  1. You haven't drawn the shed in your plan (you should), but I'm not understanding what problem you are having? I do see lots of clean-up that needs to be done. Also, I think you have incorrectly set up the great room. You already have a 2nd floor, so reset the walls above the great room to not be attic/no definition. Designate the new room as 'open below' and set the finished ceiling to "0", and 'no ceiling over this room'. On floor 1, copy/paste in place the dormers to the 2nd floor. Back on the 1st floor, you can delete the dormers, which will eliminate the wall clutter.
  2. Hint: You've experimented with enough different designs, that by now, you surely must know that roofs only build over 'rooms'.

    Use windows 'snippet' tool.
  4. Not enough correct information for anyone to be of enough help to you. In your prior threads, you indicated that part of the structure is elevated from the other (elevated via foundation or ceiling???), and you wanted to connect a 3rd structure (slab) to those structures with steps. What is what??? Then, in your uploaded file, auto rebuild roofs is turned off, and any corrections made, (to get the roof built in your file) have been undone. How did you expect to rebuild your roof? A lot of clarifying is needed, to be of any help with your file.
  5. Maybe try this: First, you should build a second floor over only the basic house. Open the 2nd floor and set the room type as 'open below' . Open the structure tab and set the finished ceiling at "0", uncheck 'ceiling over this room'. It appears that you might have a loft, and this paves the way. Do all the roof settings on these walls. Back on floor 1, you don't need to pull in the east/west walls of the porch (put them back to the edge of the house). Next, draw an island room (invisible walls) within the deck room. Set north invisible wall as 'full gable', and other 3 invisible walls at the pitch you specified. Open the outer 'room' dbx, and uncheck 'roof over this room'. Start moving the north invisible wall towards the house until you see the roof overhang (green dashed lines) just touching the house wall. Next, start moving the other 3 walls to reign in the wild overhang! Open the island room and start raising the finished ceiling until it blends correctly with the house roof. The 3 walls and the ceiling height will probably take a lot of finagling.
  6. Set the half wall 'balusters' to be 84", change the rail to drywall, and install the door. Use a box shape or custom counter top for the top shelf (soffits don't work well). You can add molding to a custom counter.
  7. If I am understanding this correctly, you want to build a house that accommodates the slope of the property? The house floor is at one level, and the garage is lower. The living area appears to be at a different level only because it's ceiling is taller. Realistically, I don't think it's possible to build the house on a slab, when you consider the property slope (at least not if you are wanting to accommodate the slope). Assuming that your property elevation is correct, this what what I think you are going to get.
  8. Open the material in the older plan, and look at it's color numbers in the material definition dialog. Write down those numbers. Then follow this kb article, and add the color numbers to the new material. https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00924/customizing-a-material.html
  9. To lower the stucco walls to floor level, for example, I opened the room dbx for the room next to the garage. That floor (D) is set at -900mm. If Suite has this setting, 'Stem Wall Top (C)', set that at 10mm lower than -900mm (-890mm).
  10. This is what you currently have. The rooms descend from each other, and I added the doors so that this is visible to you. The terrain slope needed to be adjusted. This exposed some of your foundation, so you need to work on that. I think you need to adjust the top of the stem wall height, as each room steps down. Is each ceiling height supposed to get higher as the rooms step down? The ceiling height is what keeps the roof at the same eave level. What happened to the high shed roof that you wanted?
  11. Why are you using 3 1/2" fir framed walls? I think that you have sabotaged yourself from the get-go, and you should start over. Make sure that the snap settings are turned on.
  12. If cabinet 1 is set at 0" from the floor, then maybe cabinet 2 should be set at 34" or 35" from floor (dbx box)??

    Rabbit Ear Roof

To save yourself some work, FIRST open the roof dialog box and set the default pitch to "0" ( it will default to 1/4"). Set the gable walls only where shown. Whatever pitch that you set on the west wall (floor 1) is what will determine the height of the high shed gable wall. Build a new floor/ check the box for 'build new blank plan"/ set the finished ceiling to 12". Turn on the floor reference display, and draw new walls only where shown (draw over the existing attic walls). Use a room divider wall for the interior wall. Align the walls with the walls below/set the room as 'open below' (if you want the floor structure removed). Set the 2 gable walls and the high shed wall. The roof should pop up.

Is this what you are trying to do?
  15. You are not offering a 'tip' or 'technique', you are asking a 'how to' question. Your post belongs in the Q&A section.

    Flying Building

Olivier...take a look at what is obvious. If bldg #1 floor (c) is set at '0', and your terrain takes a steep elevation drop...should bldg #2 floor (c) still be set at '0'?

    Floor Joist Height

Is it really floor structure(L) you need to change, or is it floor (C) that you need to change? Floor (C) is most always set to "0" and the terrain elevation is what gets changed to raise or lower the house from the ground. If it actually really is floor structure(L), then you need to re-read what I said. For a bigger floor structure, stick with the default (12 5/8) and add only a few inches to the floor finish (K) to get what you need.
  18. Looking at your elevation picture, you have misrepresented the entire house roof structure in the plan that you posted. That changes everything. Read up on 'story and a half' roofs in the knowledge base, and focus on getting the main house roof correct first (front gable and dormer included). You have a lot of fixing to do.
  19. After you have deleted the 2nd floor garage walls, repair the 2nd floor house walls (at the corner) with exterior walls. Then try this: On floor 1, set the garage walls as "separate" from the house, as shown. Remember to set the front and rear garage walls as 'gable'. Add a new room, as shown. Follow the settings. When the roof is correct, turn off auto rebuild roof. You can then rejoin the garage walls to the house, and delete the extra room. For water drainage, easiest way to add a cricket (in this case), is to use an isometric wedge (library shape), as shown.
  20. How about a custom backsplash?
  21. Same method. Not very practical, unless it's for a child's playhouse.
