  1. You are, I think, doing this the hard way. If you build a foundation with walls, those walls will automatically get a footing. If you simply draw a wall, you can mark it as a foundation wall and it will get a footing. The software does many things automatically -- sometimes it's not what you want, but generally it is. You want to do a little manual building as possible and learn/allow the program to do it for you. A search in Help for ledger will give you some ideas on how to have the program automatically generate a ledger.
  2. None of the Home Designer titles allow you to put holes in things. You need to draw the slab so it forms the opening.
  3. You should not need to do anything.
  4. @codylv7 Research Textures and Patterns, and how to create a new Material.
  5. Did you choose a template other than the Default Style when you started your plan? You might want to go over the resources I linked above.
  6. Copy windows and doors, replace wall, Paste/Hold Position to put the windows back.
  7. Open the object and review the available settings. What is "lose the tool"? There are lots of videos on the Chief YouTube channel. Watching the recent hour long Home Designer webinar will help you get up to speed with the new version.
  8. I believe you will need to redraw the wall as a Pony Wall, and not simply change it.

    Attic help

Go to the Home Designer website and search for frog. Read the article to get the basic idea.
  12. Use Soffit Surface for Ceiling Did you try this? How are the two outside walls defined? Also, it looks like you have Angle Snaps off. Best to keep this turned on or it's easy to draw slightly off angle.
  13. Reread and think about what I wrote just above. Start by defining a new wall type that has siding on both sides and use it for the 2 side walls. Draw a wall on the 2nd floor where you want the balcony railing. You have just formed a room. Set the Room Type to Unspecified. Do you get a roof? Draw a wall across to close in the end forming another room. Set that Room Type to Open Below. Use Soffit Surface for Ceiling
  14. Suggest you check the Chief YouTube channel for a video that clearly shows the process.

    Catalogs

You can create your own materials. Articles and videos available. What appliances?
  16. I believe the floor camera was removed from the toolbar in the 2020 version to help eliminate the problem you describe, although it may be added back manually, so I imagine your friend was using the Full Camera. Problems like this may often be resolved by reviewing the documentation. Reading about the Floor Camera would reveal that it only renders a single floor.

  18. I don't understand. Rooms, including a balcony, must be surrounded by walls. Look at the various room types. One of them is Open Below which is really a shortcut way of saying this room does not have a floor structure. Roofs build over rooms.
  19. I don't know of a way in Suite.
  20. Looking at your image above, I imagine you have not created a room, you have simply drawn some walls. The program needs connected walls to form a room, so draw a wall here, and at the end of the hallway on the right -- a Room Divider will work.
  21. Tell the program to place a roof over the room, and if that space is not a room, it needs to be. Notice how all your other rooms have roofs?
