  1. Find a molding profile in the library -- look in (download) bonus catalogs too. In a camera view, click the molding in the library, then click the object you want to change. Painting (or staining) works the same, or select the object, open it and change in Materials.
  2. Because you did not build roof framing (the trusses), or any other framing.
  3. The Chief forum is: https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/
  4. Open Help, search joist direction.
  5. Blinds are typically applied through the window dialog. They will automatically resize to fill the window. If you click on a blind in the Library Browser, then click on a window to apply it, it gets applied as a curtain. If you click on a wall, it gets applied as a stand alone fixture that you can manually move into place, and resize as needed.
  6. You probably have an invisible attic wall there. Go to the A level and check. Delete the invisible wall and it should rebuild as expected.
  7. The 4' dimension is a Temporary Dimension from CAD to a Terrain Perimeter. Just keep repeating to yourself -- Pro isn't Solidworks. You need to learn the Home Designer way just as you learned the Solidworks way. Those inexperienced in CAD usually have the easiest time learning as they don't know how things should be done
  8. When I bought Pro 10 years ago, one of the ways I learned the program was opening a dialog -- like Defaults. then clicking through each item. My goal was not to actually learn everything, but instead, I just wanted to become familiar with the program. I tried to remember the terminology -- what things were called, so I could look things up in help, or search online, when needed.
  9. Using your plan opened in Pro 2025, I painted the strip -- or the 2 strips that were there. The Room Divider gets converted by the program to an interior-4 wall. In Pro, it paints without a problem. I don't have Suite 2025 to test, but it should work the same.
  10. What's the problem? What results are you getting and what do you expect? If you will attach a simple plan (the plan file -- not an image of the plan) that demonstrates the problem, it will make troubleshooting much easier.
  11. Forum search for tray ceiling should show some options. Why do you need/want to show framing? Boxing down to create a tray is normally not structural, and any framer will know how to do one.
  12. A soffit has no framing to display.
  13. Do you own the land where you will build? A custom build should respond to the site. Architects generally prefer someone come with a list of requirements/wishes, and a small selection of images showing style. Architects design and dislike feeling constrained by a DIY plan, and often having to explain to someone everything wrong with their ideas. But if you really want to work on this, Keith has a Pro 2021 license for sale and having Pro will make your life much, much easier.

    Door Dimensions

Select Specify Label instead of Automatic Label and enter the dimension.
  15. Start with a general plan cleanup. Align walls one over the other. Reset wall top and bottom heights. Fix the foundation. Reset railing walls to non railing walls, or use railing walls everywhere.
  16. Tips: Attach your plan file. Always say what program and year you are using (like Pro 2020). Vector View often shows alignment and other issues better than Standard View.

    Help with roofs

Just take a screen capture. Save as an image file -- .jpg or .png and attach. Show a 3D overview. You probably need to make the porch ceiling height the same as the entry.
  18. You cannot set this value via room type defaults. Tip: Vector View often shows details better than Standard View. Tip: Attach a simple plan that demonstrates the problem. Image shows a room type of Porch with a 3 1/2" drop for the slab. This is the standard way of doing this.
  19. Could you show where to set the floor to -3 1/2?
  20. Please add this each time you ask or respond to a question. Many responses need this info. I'm guessing you are showing a Temporary Dimension in your image (always good to specify). Temporary Dimensions will always display like that. If you are creating a model for a house that you have measured the exterior of, as an example, you need to dimension the walls using Auto or Manual dimensions, not Temporary Dimensions. Then work your way around changing each wall as needed. Just draw the plan getting the basic shape correct, apply dimensions, then change wall lengths to be correct. You might turn on Show Start And End Indicators, and learn about the options when a dimension is selected. You can also toggle off Temporary Dimension display. And if the walls are stucco, suggest you change the default exterior wall type to one that represents the wall. Generally, try to set all your defaults prior to drawing -- walls, windows and doors etc.
  21. The solution is above in my response. And almost always best to start a new thread when asking about almost anything. You are asking about Exterior Dimensions not Interior Dimensions.
  22. Please always mention what title and year you are using -- Pro 2020 for example. Open Help, search elevation. Search "toggle color" (with the quotes) Search "toggle patterns" (with the quotes) There are articles and videos on the Home Designer website, and videos on the Chief Architect YouTube channel (look for the Home Designer specific ones like the hour long webinars).

Please always mention what title and year you are using -- Pro 2020 for example. Not automatically in Home Designer. Easy in the Chief Architect products.
