  1. That text is embedded in the 2D CAD Block and cannot be accessed/changed in Home Designer. Those blocks were updated starting with the 2024 versions to look like this.
  2. Take a good look at the Build Foundation dialog, Foundation panel.
  3. In general, it's best to rotate the terrain so you are not dealing with odd angles in the house. And please update your signature -- Accounting Settings > Signature
  4. Video shows Pro 2024 -- the oldest I have installed, and while the basics are the same, there may be some fixes in new versions that make things work that did not work previously. This is also really simple to do with the manual roof tools. Remove the upper pitch setting in the front wall and build the roof. Drag the back roof plane out of the way. Draw a new roof plane starting at the ridge going towards the rear. Open it, lock Fascia Top Height, and adjust the pitch. Cleanup as needed.
  5. I don't remember if 2023 auto builds trusses, but you will need to delete any auto generated roof framing -- rafters and ceiling joist, then build trusses. I'd also start by auto building the roof, then refine using the manual tools as needed. Get the roof planes where you want them, then work on framing.
  6. You may save to a new file as many times as you wish within the program. You can also copy a plan and/or layout using the operating system file commands.

    Materials List Print

Read about exporting the materials list. You can split it up and print from another program.
  8. I looked at that old thread you found. It refers to a curved soffit -- a soffit against a curved wall. I also searched this forum and found a solution. Here are a couple of tips. Try to learn the tools you have available -- what they can and cannot do. Since soffits won't work, what will? Learn to think outside the box when solving a problem like this. You see soffits, I see a thick wall. Why? Because you can use the door and window tools to create arched openings in walls. You can create a Pony Wall with a Room Divider wall on the bottom, or select the wall and drag its bottom up. As for searching for help, start at the Home Designer website. the search there searches it and this forum. Search video: I don't know if this will help. I've not watched it since i made it a year ago.
  9. Is this in all plans? Upload the problem plan -- zip if needed and/or delete things to meet the 14MB size limit, and someone will check it. There should be a Repair option when you reinstall. I'd try it first.
  10. Always say what year -- Pro 2018 for example. In plan or a camera view? I guess you have closed and restarted Pro, and tested a new plan?
  11. That should be automatic using the default wall types. Have you built all framing and verified it's not there?
  12. Pro 2024 doesn't have the problem. The Shelf Ceiling feature when first introduced was somewhat buggy. If you are using the software in a business, I'll suggest you stay current. One of the rather stupid policies of Chief Architect is they sometimes fix problems in new versions, but don't update older ones.
  13. Find a molding profile in the library -- look in (download) bonus catalogs too. In a camera view, click the molding in the library, then click the object you want to change. Painting (or staining) works the same, or select the object, open it and change in Materials.
  14. Because you did not build roof framing (the trusses), or any other framing.
  15. The Chief forum is: https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/
  16. Open Help, search joist direction.
  17. Blinds are typically applied through the window dialog. They will automatically resize to fill the window. If you click on a blind in the Library Browser, then click on a window to apply it, it gets applied as a curtain. If you click on a wall, it gets applied as a stand alone fixture that you can manually move into place, and resize as needed.
  18. You probably have an invisible attic wall there. Go to the A level and check. Delete the invisible wall and it should rebuild as expected.
  19. The 4' dimension is a Temporary Dimension from CAD to a Terrain Perimeter. Just keep repeating to yourself -- Pro isn't Solidworks. You need to learn the Home Designer way just as you learned the Solidworks way. Those inexperienced in CAD usually have the easiest time learning as they don't know how things should be done
  20. When I bought Pro 10 years ago, one of the ways I learned the program was opening a dialog -- like Defaults. then clicking through each item. My goal was not to actually learn everything, but instead, I just wanted to become familiar with the program. I tried to remember the terminology -- what things were called, so I could look things up in help, or search online, when needed.
  21. Using your plan opened in Pro 2025, I painted the strip -- or the 2 strips that were there. The Room Divider gets converted by the program to an interior-4 wall. In Pro, it paints without a problem. I don't have Suite 2025 to test, but it should work the same.
  22. What's the problem? What results are you getting and what do you expect? If you will attach a simple plan (the plan file -- not an image of the plan) that demonstrates the problem, it will make troubleshooting much easier.
  23. Forum search for tray ceiling should show some options. Why do you need/want to show framing? Boxing down to create a tray is normally not structural, and any framer will know how to do one.
  24. A soffit has no framing to display.
  25. Do you own the land where you will build? A custom build should respond to the site. Architects generally prefer someone come with a list of requirements/wishes, and a small selection of images showing style. Architects design and dislike feeling constrained by a DIY plan, and often having to explain to someone everything wrong with their ideas. But if you really want to work on this, Keith has a Pro 2021 license for sale and having Pro will make your life much, much easier.
