Like this? There is no 'shingle layer". You are seeing patterns which may be turned off via 3D>Toggle Patterns
-
Are you using a custom template? Are you opening existing plans and making changes? Room types are stored in your template file and will be available when that template is used as swarren showed above.
-
Where did you see the new room types? Bonus Room is not an out of the box room type in any Chief or Home Designer product. Chief has the ability to define new room types -- Home Designer does not. Do you understand the difference between Room Types and Room Names?
-
Here this might be called a roll out pantry. Not sure how, or even if you could create one in Home Designer. Why are you asking? Do you want to show it open?
-
Could you attach pictures and/or the plan file?

You can override the default pitch in a Wall Specification dialog.
-
Try a Pony Wall (check Help if unfamiliar) upper part Room Divider, lower part shower wall. Default Pony Wall on left.

Post your plan file and someone will take a look. I did this (auto build) quickly, but something in your model might be preventing it.

I worked on this for a bit and was not able to get your roof to auto build. There are several people here that are better than me at this -- maybe they will take a look. It will help to have dimensions for the roof for the larger part of the 2nd floor. Fascia height or some other dimension that locates the roof planes, and the ceiling height and roof pitch for the extension.

Did you click the blue link to Log In To Your Chief Architect Account?
-
Search Temporary Dimensions in Help.
-
I believe those are Architectural Blocks. Explode it (select it, edit toolbar) and the parts become independent objects.

Have you considered a Backclipped Cross Section?
-
Could you post a sketch of what you want?
-
Post your plan with your best effort and I'll take a look. This roof can be done simply with manual roof planes too. Set the porches to not have a roof, then Auto build. Draw in the porch roofs manually.

The videos always show Pro, so there will be more options. You need to make settings in walls to build a shed roof. Under Build Roof, look at Roof Styles for info.
-
Try opening a wall and setting it to use default (check the box). Post plan if this does not work.

Open Help and search toggle textures. I'm sure it's in Suite as your image shows no textures -- everything is just a solid color.
-
I'm guessing you have textures toggled off.
-
Could you attach images (screen captures) so we see what you see, and say which frame and artwork you are using.

Because soffits are just a box shape with a few special properties. They are not walls. Try placing a register away from a wall. Then manually position it -- rotate/drag, open it and set the height.
