  1. Build roof dialog -- not in a wall dialog. Then go to Edit>Reset To Defaults, choose Roof Directives In Walls (only if you have changed pitch for a specific wall -- and you will need to set gable and returns again). Draw walls outlining it. Change the room type to porch. Make the walls invisible.
  2. Change the roof pitch and draw in the porch. Forget for now about the gable over the porch. Once the basic look is correct, post your plan file and someone may help with the gable.
  3. With Suite you will need to use a manually placed soffit for the lower wall.
  4. Post the plan file and I'll have a look.
  5. You asked about adding the notches, not the vents ...
  6. I believe the SketchUp version and the Home Designer version need to be the same, or Home Designer newer. You can download the Pro 2020 trial and test.
  7. You have tried multiple symbols? That message is when there is only CAD -- no 3D in the import. I believe there is a version match requirement too.
  8. This is the type of question that is easy to answer for yourself. Simply create a plan, and try it.

    Plot Plan

    Where did you look?
  10. Saving the camera only saves the camera position and settings. It, along with everything else is saved when you save the plan file.
  11. Don't open the small wall -- just drag the top down. When like walls merge, and they often do, try reversing one of the walls. Works for walls that are alike both sides, but also as a temporary fix. Reverse, make a change, reverse back.
  12. A niche has a back. Use the Pass-through to make an opening. Build foundation, elevation view, select wall, reshape ...
  13. Not automatically. Pass-Through or similar. You could also break the foundation wall and pull the top down.
  14. @ChiefSales The website only shows an upgrade to Premier only, and does not show Interiors as an option.
  15. I'm not sure what you want to do. The wall needs to be sitting on something. I was thinking a pony wall with a 5" lower wall. You could also set the wall to have 2 bottom plates, then edit one to be wood. ------- Unsure why you are doing this, but if for permitting or to show a contractor, a non dimensioned drawing showing maybe 4' of the wall should be enough. Use text to convey the details.
  16. Build>Framing Do you understand about Pony Walls?
  17. Draw in a general framing member, position and size it as needed. Guessing it's not floating in air. Maybe a pony wall? You may need to manually draw one.

    Layout Scale Bar

Easy enough to make your own using cad. I added the 4' and line to show the drawing scale and started a new scale bar below. I'm sure 3D Warehouse has a selection. Here is one from my library. Bar Scales.calibz
  19. Auto dimensions only work when you have defined a room, or rooms. Start a new plan, draw 4 walls connected to form a room, then try auto dimensions. Most people use temporary dimensions to position walls. The Tutorial (via the Help menu) goes over creating a plan. More info: Getting Started Knowledge Base YouTube See the Getting Started webinars on YouTube too.
  20. That's really annoying, but you can turn on auto dimensions. Open help and search for auto dimensions.
  21. Roof Baseline Polylines must be created by the user by checking the box in the Build Roof dialog. They control how the roof builds, but as you found, are not connected to the roof. They often cause these type of problems. I'd suggest only using them in the rare case they are truly needed.
  22. There is no link to an actual answer. You posted your question in the wrong forum. Post on ChiefTalk, attach the plan file and someone may take a look.

  24. Chief forum is: https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/
  25. The software does not work as you are thinking. If you want to maintain a specific camera view, like an elevation or 3D view, you need to save the active camera. Plans always open in plan view, you then manually open other views using a new or saved camera.
