Those 2 existing walls (north & south) are attic walls. Either draw over them, or change their settings. The key thing is those existing gable walls are marked No Room Definition. That setting needs to be cleared. You don't need to add a second story -- you already have one. Draw 4 walls roughly over the garage. Build the roof and you should see a room and new roof.

If you are thick skinned and can handle a critique of your plan, consider posting it on houzz.com here: https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/build The general suggestion will be to hire an Architect, but you will get some good honest feedback. California generally is one of the worst places for getting plans permitted. I'd seek a local draftsman to create the construction documents and help with the permit process. Architects typically are not interested in reviewing a DIY plan. Builders often offer this service too. Choose a builder who will take your plan, and use their draftsman to complete the drawings and obtain permits.

It's a layer display issue. Open Layer Display Options and search for a layer with a red color and dashed line.
-
It looks like a layer issue. Here is all layers on. I looked quickly and did not see an obvious problem. I copied (using Edit Area) your plan into a new plan and the cameras work as expected. Suggest sending the file to Chief. I need to get back to a job -- will look again tonight.

Try an install with the Repair option.

Since Pro only has single page layouts, you will need a 3rd party PDF tool to merge multiple files into one. I don't have a recommendation, but a web search should find both free and paid products.

You should automatically have a Living Area label that shows a value -- do you see it? It can be turned on or off in Plan Defaults. Running a Plan Check will often bring it back. As far as the icon, you need to drag it to a toolbar (read up on customizing toolbars). And Auto Interior Dimensions has only ever done this one thing.
-
They just removed the icon. You can add it back. Turn on Room Labels, and the Standard Area or Interior Area layer.

Look in the Status Bar. No.

What are you calling a tray ceiling? You can use ceiling planes, soffits, slabs, custom countertops to model most anything.
-
Use the Adjust Material Definition tool. You can also create a new material that has its direction changed. Search the Home Designer website for articles / videos, or Help for specifics.

It's probably being cut off by the roof plane that extends into the gable. If the wall needs to sit on top of that roof, try setting it to Roof Cuts Wall At Bottom.

When you look at the Templates folder, you will see files with a M at the end of the name, like ProfileM.plan. Those are the metric templates. You will need to do the same -- just start with a metric template, and save it with the M. At least I think that should work.
-
Yep. File>Save Thumbnail Image Even Suite has this.

Did a quick video on making your own template.

This is an unsupported, but safe method for creating your own custom templates. Set up your defaults in a new template or templates, and use them when starting a new plan. Unrehearsed and unscripted, so ask questions below. Watch on YouTube: http://youtu.be/JIvZ86tkIyc?hd=1

Please update your signature. That's not the way the program works. Here is a structure with 8' walls and the default 8' garage door. My guess is you drew your shed with 9' walls. Open the room, on the Structure panel, set the ceiling height to be whatever you want. Or, even better, open Defaults, set the ceiling height, then and rooms you create will be correct.

Open a new plan. Copy/paste wall from another plan. Delete the newly copied wall. Save, close, then open the new plan. The wall type is still available. Take that new plan and replace the profile.plan file that HD uses as the default template. Now when you open a new plan using the default template, that wall type will be available.
-
You copy/paste a wall, not a wall type. Once a wall is in the plan it becomes available in the wall types list.

Make your porch room using room divider walls. Use railing walls when you want railings. And for the best help, attach your plan file. A picture of the plan rarely helps.
