  1. I was able to create the roof over Jacqui's Closet with auto build roof. 1st had to lower the finished ceiling to 42" (Jacqui's Closet). Then on level 1 (garage, front and east wall)... Set upper/lower pitch, and set from baseline 104". I haven't found a solution yet to level 3 family room dutch roof (above Jacqui's closet flat roof, the roof to the right side of the small window).
  2. Is the roof over the 3rd floor and over Jacquie's closet supposed to be partially flat?
  3. Floor 2, Jacqui's closet: You haven't set the upper/lower pitch roof on the east wall. Setting the baseline to 15' closes the roof hole and the sticking-out wall. Not understanding what you are wanting the descending roof line to look like? Maybe experiment with the ceiling height in Jacquie's closet room?

    Creating Decks

I did an edit area copy/paste into a new plan, and it fixed the problem ( a deck built correctly). You said that you WERE able to copy/paste level 1 into a new plan. Did you try to build a deck in that new plan? In the new plan (with level 1 already copy/pasted), choose to build new floor/blank plan. Go back to the original plan, and go to level 2. Use edit area again and copy. Go back to the new plan (you should be on level 2 blank floor), and select paste hold position. This should now give you the complete house, and you can draw a real deck instead of having to fake it.

Looks good...but you still have some tweaking to do. Your deck floor has carpeting. Your pool is partially not showing, and you still need a driveway surface. Post back with info from tech support. It has to be something you did in that particular plan. Signature: After you login, click on your name (upper right screen). Choose settings / signature. Happy New Year!

    Creating Decks

You could save yourself from all that extra work by just faking it. Draw your deck, then change it's room type to anything that has a floor finish thickness to it. A floor finish should appear. Change the floor material to decking / planks / make your choice. You need to fix your signature. You are showing that you are using Pro 2015. I still haven't figured out why the standard deck defaults are not working. Does anyone know?
  8. You need to post the plan, so that we can see what you have (or have not) done. I think that you are not seeing the foundation because you are using the wrong camera. Read-up on the cameras.
  9. I think that your only solution will be to build a sloped ceiling plane in sketchup, and import it into the program.

    Creating Decks

The 2 plans you submitted are like night and day...they don't relate to each other. You need to better explain the look that you are trying to get. Are you referring to the area with the pool as a deck? What part of it is supposed to be a deck? Not enough info.
  11. The plan that you uploaded, does NOT have 'roof over this room' checked in any of the rooms.
  12. The basic prerequisite for building a roof over a room, is to have a check in the box "roof over this room" in the room dbx. No one should need to tell you that. But even without that box being checked, a manually drawn roof plane will generate.
  13. I suspect that maybe you need to read-up on using the cameras.

    Library

Up on the tool bar: tools / display options / fixtures, interior. Make sure there is a check mark for display.
  15. Open the stair specification dialog, style tab. Scroll down to options and uncheck "allow wrap" Redo the stair again, to see if that worked. Are your stair walls marked as "no room definition"?
  16. Also buried in the library: interiors / furniture / storage furniture / shelving/wall shelves / closet shelf w/ rod
  17. After you have resized the window, select it. The distance between the window and the wall should be displayed. Click on this distance, and the distance will be highlighted and in a box. Enter the exact distance that you want, and your window will move.
  18. Hi Keith! Happy New Year to you also! I think I found a way to add/remove the ceiling joist display, quickly. In the default settings, open the floor structure tab. Edit the ceiling structure to 0. This should be a quick easy way to avoid seeing that display, and reset it back to normal when your view changes.
  19. Acropolis Once again...copy/paste. Open a plan with the wall type that you want to reuse . Select and copy the wall. Open a new plan and tile it beside the other plan. In the top toolbar, select edit/ paste, and paste the wall type into the new plan. This wall type will now show up in the default wall types (edit/default settings/exterior wall) offered for use in this new plan. Set it there, as the wall type that you want to use.

    Dormer bugs

    I feel your pain.
  21. I've also done what you are proposing too, and without plans. My starting place was my county auditor's property search site, where I found the sketch of the exterior walls/shell of the house, with the dimensions. You will need to search to find out if Australia offers the same type of public records. Once I had the exterior walls drawn, I then did an aerial view of the house...and this helped me to get the roof correct. From that point, my memory served me to draw the interior walls for the rooms. I can now walk through the rooms of my virtual house whenever I want. This is as close as I will ever get to revisiting the house, because an investment company demolished it several years ago. As the song lyrics say, "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot".

  23. Everything DJP and Solver said is relevant. Add your program title AND it's version in your signature, if you expect to get help. You also need to upload your plan, in order to get specific help. You have chosen to build a complicated roof for a newbie. Some of it will probably have to be modeled in Sketchup and imported into the plan. Problem 1-. Ever heard of copy/paste??? Lastly, if you are wanting software that does flips, then you need to upgrade to Chief Premier (used by architects and building contractors). It is pricey, and has an extensive learning curve.
  24. Hi Keith! I think that gap is where the ceiling joists are supposed to be. I don't know if there is an easy way for it to not be displayed.
