  1. you probably need to adjust the Texture and Pattern sizes but only a guess these might help http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00767/8/Chief-Architect/Materials/Creating-a-New-Material.html http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01006/8/Chief-Architect/Materials/Customizing-a-Library-Material.html http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00194/8/Chief-Architect/Materials/Changing-the-Direction-of-a-Materials-Pattern-and-Texture.html
  2. Problem is nobody understands what the issue is exactly so far , which Tutorial exactly? KB no# ? , cos even if they have a MAC they wont have any idea what to try for you.... more information, pics of the issues ,your plan file etc may help too
  3. The usual workarounds would be my guess : -Soffits/ sloped Soffits -Partitions -Slabs -Shelves couple of partitions and a few shelves should do it. M.
  4. it maybe a videocard driver issue , try playing with the render options for shadows in the preference's panel , no idea what option you have in 2015 though you could turn off soft shadows and try a few other of the options.. are you using an Intel intergrated video chip by chance? try updating the drivers at INTEL too , not your computer manufacturers site. and see this too http://www.homedesig...ticle/KB-00897/
  5. I have never found the comparison matrix that useful myself and why I ended up upgrading fairly quickly to Pro, and finely Chief (cos I wanted too ) , there is no comparison when it comes to doing ConDocs, and to a certain degree I am having to teach myself the better/faster way to do stuff as Pro is "ingrained" after 5yrs or so. Do you have the OZ house Plans HD used to have in the Library? and the OZ Breed Plants ? not sure if still available but I have them if you need them, let me know, nothing too fancy, they are from 6-8 years ago when Chief had a Oz divison but then closed down..... though I see a new support no# in Oz now again. You can upgrade your software anytime after buying it to another better version and essentially get an instant rebate for your title against the new title, this renders the old licence invalid but you can still use both programs on your computer if wanted, though plans done in newer versions wont open in the Older ( or lessor) versions. Pro has a rebate against Chief of $500 , and there is usually once a year Xmas /new year usually) a 10% sale on Chief you can apply too. Chief does come with a 30 Day money back guarantee too ,if it doesn't suit your needs. you can look at different scenarios on the Chief Upgrade page or the HD Upgrade page too http://www.chiefarchitect.com/products/upgrade.html https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/products/home-designer-pro/ BTW to be clear.....You cannot transfer licence (to someone else) of any HD Product though you can resell the Chief licence at a later date , with a $50 transfer fee.
  6. on the Mac a right click is the same as a left click while you hold the Control Key (CTRL) I believe.
  7. which article? cos if you can do it on a PC you should be able to do it on a MAC. M.
  8. I was wondering if you had seen that
  9. not sure why but HD always bows ARCS "OUTWARD" 1st (guess it has to go one way or the other though) but all you need to do is grab the ARC MANIPULATION HANDLE , (the triangle) and pull inwards , the ends stay fixed and the curve will bow "inwards" . The circle edit handle is for moving the ARC along its Radial line only , you can show the ARC centres with the toggle button too assuming your version has that feature? M.
  10. You know you want to jump in Neck deep Rob never mind waist deep , I started like you are planning 8 years ago and just wish I had taken the plunge straight away now. I suggest you Buy Pro at a minimum and then Trade it In if you want the extra Features during the once a year Chief Sale if needed.( or keep your eyes open for a 2nd hand Copy perhaps) The printing thing you can get around with the "print to 1/2 scale" and print at 200% trick , assuming Suite can Print to Scale and not just do Images ? I went straight to HDA , as I needed Elevations etc (as David mentioned) which the comparison didn't mention back then... Can Suite do those Fancy divided Lite Windows you like?
  11. make a copy of your plan (save as) then go around the Exterior walls in a clockwise direction and adjust the wall dimensions as needed , the interior walls should be dragged along as needed , may not be perfect but there is no magic button for "make me 20% bigger" AFAIK. you may need to rebuild Roofs and the foundation if that isn't automatic in your version. M.
  12. Pole Barns can be done with almost any Version of HD, there are even Tutorials on it in the KB if it's really a Pole Barn you want and not a Garage. http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-01081/ if you have a more advance title there are also these http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00598/ http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00517/

    Gazebo

so I guess you don't have the polygon deck tool? I know version 10 did, it does all this in about 5mins , if you want it 12' wide set the radius to side distance to 72" . If you don't have the polygon deck tool and have to do it manually then the walls would each be 59 5/8" long each according to the Polygon Deck Tool in my version. these are the plans Jo_Ann mentioned Gazebo Plan Templates.zip The "templates" folder is in My Docs>HD Data folder> however the "Samples" Folder is wherever you installed HD to , usually C:\programfiles>HD>Samples M.

the Polygon/Octagon Deck tool should get it done for you , you'll need to turn on post to beam , one the wall's and give the deck room a roof but shouldn't be too hard assuming you have the polygon deck tool?
  15. more photos of the real thing and posting the plan , so people can have a look for you will get you better answers it would be a good idea to fill in your Forum Profile Signature too , so in future posts people know what you are using etc ,which is pertinent to all questions on this forum. M.
  16. are you sure you are using a Elevation Line and not a CAD Line ? don't know your title and it's pretty old ,so can't check personally but there should be tabs foe Elevation, polyline, selected line and Line Style on the Elev. Line DBX. you having an arrow tab makes me think your using cad lines not elevation lines or your title doesn't allow this perhaps ?
  17. David's advice should work but you could check wall connections etc too to see why the Terrain is "getting in" but sometimes it best just to move on if the "fix" works , so it doesn't drive you crazy. If you have "weird issues" it's always best to post the plan so others can look for you, there are just too many DBX's to guess at. edit you just posted above.... possibly cos you changed the foundation defaults ,type or height and didn't rebuild the terrain previously but the 1st floor is always 0" ,so it may depend on what the soffits are getting there height off.
  18. he needs to do the opposite David , he wants to see the wall ....so set the Staircase fill to Transparent , I usually use 50% , in these case as HD/Chief cannot do the Traditional stair beak per old hand draw/ACAD plans as it's a 3D program not 2D. But word is there are working on it for future versions as it's been asked for often.
  19. good find Jo , I guess it was the walls at 4.00 the cameras I found were locked on (I did see cameras out at 10 o'clock too but didn't delve that deep in) , strangely I didn't see the walls even doing a 360° turn in the 3D view window when the fill window and fill window building icons didn't work... yep definitely going to be busy with the "remodel" M.
  20. as David pointed out you must be in a metric plan to display in metric , however you can enter metric dimensions into any dialog box and HD will auto convert them to the equivalent imperial measurement if the rest of your plan was already "drawn" in Imperial
  21. sorry was typing as I was playing with your plan so this maybe a bit disjointed............ it's very strange , the cameras are there , but for some reason they are generating about 64 miles away ( guesstimate) from the house , if you go to 3d Pres. Overview and then switch back to the 2d plan and use the Fill window icon (or F6) you should see the camera(s) , you may need to zoom out even more though, the house will just look like a bunch of text /dimensions , I found the camera out and down to the right but ALONG way from the house. for some reason all your Pres. cameras are no longer on "default" neither the height or distance settings eg I am unsure why your camera is 232730" above the ground or 354340" away,( see the pic), right click on the camera once you find it and click open and then set both back to Default 60" and then you need to drag the camera back towards the house and resize it lengthwise as you go. looks like you'll need to do it for each camera too. Full camera works , looks like you have a few other issues to deal with too esp. you roofs. Before you "fix" it you might want to send the ("bad" plan to Tech Support ,and find out why this happened , they may even have a faster way to fix it? house is there though , this is after fixing the 1st camera Okay after fixing the 1st camera and closing the view , and then reopening it , it goes back to "64miles away and UP from the model , so TS maybe your answer here ,unless someone knows how to reset the default camera settings. quick tip: once you fix a view ,make sure to save the camera before closing the view and then open it from the saved camera instead of from the camera icon
  22. you may get your wish Robbo , just not in X7 https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/4705-brick-details-around-openings/
  23. re prob. no#1 it looks like you drew them in an anticlockwise direction (right to left) which is why they are reversed , but the reverse button as Eric mentioned will fix that.
  24. post the plan then..............
  25. can you post some pics perhaps ( see my Sig. for a how too if needed) cos your description sounds like the typical base cabinet to me ,except for what I think is the notched back (3"), Though as far as the software goes I am unsure why you would need to model that notch ? you might want to add your Title and Year to your Forum Profile Signature so you don't need to add it every Post too, like Eric and I have done....
