  1. You have done Well actually , and were so close this is gonna hurt your gable wall was slightly misaligned with the hip wall to the right of the Bay , which meant is wasn't aligned vertically with the Basement wall ,hence the roof grew on the basement wall instead as you had checked the "extend existing Roof " box in the Bay DBX..
  2. Hi , had a quick play and it looks like instead of your Railing you need 3 invisible walls (room divider tool) , then you can set each side to 9.5 and the front to Full gable. And set the room to Porch to get the concrete floor or to deck etc as needed. M.
  3. A newer version (2016) can always open older versions but not the other way around , you would also be able to open X7 files as X7 = 2016.
  4. the x6 User would need to set the plan to be edited in Home Designer Products ,but your editing will be limited to Suite's capabilities AFAIK.

    "False" Gable trim

If I understand correctly , you don't need sloped soffits , what you need is a Skirt Roof that is an exact copy of the Front roof , and that is your method , since you have Pro it is fairly easily done ,to give the impression of a Dormer. - copy in place the front Roof plane , - spin it 180° - slide it back over rear 1/2 of garage until overhang is correct. - now cut the hole in the new roof plane around the Wall line of the Garage (so you have a big 'U' or 'C' basically depending on orientation) , this will allow the garage walls to rebuilt up thru the roof again - Adjust and fiddle as necessary to get it to display nicely in 3D something like this: M.
  9. no actually what attribute? post the plan with a few text notes will make it easier for everyone.... I'm thinking you are a bit late with this plan I see drywall going up .....

    Aligning Walls

    - The basement wall , has to have all layers defined as Main layer as Eric shows above and per the Manual : Aligning Foundation Walls The Foundation To This Line setting in the Wall Type Definitions dialog controls how a wall of a given type aligns with foundation walls directly below on Floor 0. By default, Foundation To This Line is specified for the Main Layer of most wall types. An exception to this are brick wall types, which have Foundation To This Line specified for the exterior siding layer. See “Brick Ledges” on page 268. - you have several different wall types on the basement level so will need to adjust them all I think. Part of the problem is you have drawn the Basement and are now trying to draw the 1st floor above it, HD Pro is designed to Draw the Main floor (level 1) and then Auto generate the Basement (level 0) you then make any changes as needed using the Foundation wall type if needed. - As a quick test I deleted ALL except the Main Floor in your Drawing and made two new wall types for the basement and main floor just to be sure , and rebuilt your Roof too. Your bumpout on the end is causing an issue due to a known bug , you need the room heights to be 12" different or the Roof lines will try to join regardless of the Full Gable setting. The Roof still maybe not 100% right as I don't know it's true shape or the pitches. Hopefully you can open this to look as I have to use Premier to open your plans as I only have Pro 10. 306 MOUNT ZION_R1_Mick.plan
  11. David is correct , even a sketch on a piece of paper and a pic from your phone would help. What title you have will effect the answer but if nothing else Soffits on the Cabinet menu will work I think. Seen from a Contractor's point of view , since this is Real, I would use 2X material for the Rail Top as a 1x that wide is going to Cup badly or crack is my guess. see my Sig. below if you need help posting Pics.

    Aligning Walls

You need to align the Main Layers of your two wall types using the Wall Definition DBX of each. you have log siding as the main layer on the 1st floor ? and opening no material in the basement. Does the basement brick really go into the Ground? or is this not really a basement? Have you gone through the User Guide and done the tutorials ? and downloaded the Reference Manual off the help Menu too?.... try pages 213-240
  13. and is searchable ,at least as of today ,June 8,2015 , but may not be always , as they have already removed the link off this Forum's Front Page. http://hometalk.homedesignersoftware.com/forumdisplay.php?2-Q-amp-A
  14. Hi I thought I had mentioned Version 10 files about a year ago and did , they were taken offline May 27th last year. https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/534-archive-for-older-version-bonus-libraries/#entry2827 http://hometalk.homedesignersoftware.com/showthread.php?19529-For-those-with-Version-10-titles
  15. if you have been trying this afternoon , they are doing Server Maintenance from 2pm PST onwards. if it's a file from a version higher than 10 , that is why it won't load , version 9 files would.... *******Edit : actually I am not sure the Version 10 files are available any longer on the website , you should check but I think they disappeared last year.
  16. it appears you don't have the "Same wall type Handle" ON in preferences ( I don't see the diamond grab handle) which makes dragging the same wall type easy and foolproof , you grab the diamond and off you go. What you must be doing from my tests just now , is drawing each wall individually by connecting/dragging from the point of the interior wall which causes the new wall to lap back over the already drawn wall as it joins at it main layer not the point. Conversely if you drag from the outer point (brick) the wall will get longer as the walls will join at their Main Layer NOT the point you dragged from. Try in again with the Same Wall Type Pref. set to ON....I think Eric mentioned this Earlier in the Thread ? M.
  17. not that I have read , but I don't know if this is a Dell issue or an HD issue or which one is fixing it. M
  18. you need to set the Window separation , it's default is 2" , it's in Defaults>Window >General Tab (at the bottom) . it maybe useful to also check the Box while in there for Defaults>Plan>Ignore Casing for Opening Resize. ( at top in general section)

    wall height

yes if you don't use walls , you can use Shapes, Soffits, Partitions, Slabs etc . There maybe other ways too (workarounds) but you haven't filled in you Forum Profile signature with your Version and Title of HD so it is hard to be more specific as they all have different features but I think Soffits and Shapes are common to all. if you are trying to do something specific then pics or sketches or something like that would help too, lots of good help here on the Forum for OOB Ideas. 20. Use the same Trick DJP suggested with the Pass Thru, ---the Ctrl Key while dragging--- , it works on nearly everything.

    wall height

You can't change a Wall's height in HD Software directly via a DBX , you can change them in the Room Defaults or Floor Defaults DBX via the Ceiling height settings only AFAIK. your can edit a wall's height in an elevation or 3D view however by pulling the 3D Polyline up or down as needed .
  22. not sure on your issue but was thinking the 32bitvs64bit myself though I have seen one or two others report the same issue , I just saw this though if you want Win 7, though it is a today deal only. http://promotions.newegg.com/NEemail/June-0-2015/WESunny-06/index-landing.html?utm_medium=Email&utm_source=EXPRESS060615&nm_mc=EMC-EXPRESS060615&cm_mmc=EMC-EXPRESS060615-_-EMC-060615-Index-_-E0A-_-Editor&et_cid=18664&et_rid=3506656&et_p1=#Elite
  23. The method above works well if you don't need Casings around the Opening ...baseboard still builds though, which is good. You can also Use a solid rail (half Wall) and a Ceiling beam with Drywall as the material if casing isn't needed instead of the Soffit since there would be a Beam there ITRW. BTW Doors and Pass through's are much more difficult to select once the Casings are turned off , sometimes plan view is the only way it seems.
  24. try disconnecting the walls at one end , otherwise all is does is push one wall over and shortened the other , and in some circumstances it wont move/change size at all.
  25. you could try downloading the Trial Version and then try activating it with the CD Key to get the Full Version , otherwise you could call Sales on Monday and see if they can help you https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/products/trial.html?product=architectural https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/company/contact.html
