Reuse (copy/paste) the platform you made in your other post , just resize it ,and move into position.

Jo_Ann is correct all your walls need to be set to Full gable , the High Shed setting is basically only for telling the software what is the High side of a Shed Roof , the two side walls would still be Full Gable ...check you manual for Shed Roof if you don't quite follow what I am saying. You have Pro , so have Manual Roof Tools , so can drag the rooflines out/in etc as needed, so check out the Manual Roof Tools too, http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00415/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Creating-Hip-and-Gable-Roofs-Manually.html I find I don't need to play with Base/Gable line much at all myself. here is a tutorial though.... http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00062/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Using-the-Gable-Roof-Line-Tool.html http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00544/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Modifying-a-Roof-Baseline.html this might help too http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00388/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Extending-a-Roof-Plane-Over-a-Bumpout.html and it would be a good idea to add your info to your forum signature so you don't need to add it to each post in the future. ie John Burns Chief Architect Professional 2016 Version 17.1.2.20SX Macbook Pro OSX Yosemite

You can import 3d Models from most 3D Software in Chief but you can make Symbols right in Chief Premier and save them to the library , this stuff wont work in the trial as you can't save anything in the trial AFAIK though I don't do a lot of brickwork myself so that particular symbol I haven't played with but I have seen it discussed on CT several times , check the Symbols Forum for User made shared files. perhaps you should also checkout http://www.cadsoft.com.au/ ProArchitect is a bit more than HDPro and Envisioneer is a bit Cheaper than Chief and they have OZ Support too

sounds like a videocard problem , you using an Intel intergrated video chip by chance? try updating the drivers at INTEL , not your computer manufacturers site. see this too http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00897/

As a Pro Rob ,producing Drawings, I don't think HD Pro is gonna work for you and will be one frustration after another , unless all you need is 3D capability for Client presentations , I'd think that the time savings alone with Chief especially when it come to get Drawings out the door for you ,would mean it would pay for itself in a year . Neither HD Pro or Chief a BIM capable/enabled , you may find more info on this on Chieftalk , not sure how important that is but a lot are using Chief as Revit etc are 3X the price (AFAIK) Chief has an Aust. support number again these days too, if that's a consideration.

maybe I am reading the OP wrong , but it sounds like he wants advice to do it ITRW (in the real world) not in the software to me .... , in which case I'd say check Youtube or hire a good Framer/Carpenter to help. you could also try the JLC Forums for advice http://forums.jlconline.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?11-Rough-Framing&s=8809e5d41e259d44d29af9ff2e10dba7

In Version 9 there was one called just HD David , it was the version below Suite and should be version 9.6.1.1 according to the Update page https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/update-archives.html M

it would be best to post the plan , see the second link in my Forum signature below and also fill in you Forum Profile Signature section so we know what year and version of the Home Designer Products you are using as they all have different capabilities. Any room can be renamed an attic in the Room's DBX (dialog box) on the General Tab , however I don't know if that's what you really need to do to get a Roof , Roofs either Auto build or need to be built in Pro if Auto Roof is Off. if you don't know how to attach your plan or Pics , have a look at this thread https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/221-how-to-take-pics-of-your-plan-to-post-here/?hl=pics

What the 1st Tut. doesn't make clear is that the RESHAPE ARC HANDLE , a triangle, ( seen in image halfway down) is very important for altering curves and making full circles or even convex (inward curves) easily by just pulling in or out, best to just try it and you'll see what I mean. http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00983/

don't know what title you have but you need to build the roof if auto roofs is off to change the overhang either via the build roof dialog as Eric showed or you can change the overhang on individual walls in each Wall's DBX on the roof tab( see pic) then rebuild the roof if auto roof is off

Overhangs want to be 2 1/4 minimum +/- so the siding will tuck up behind them , though I personally like mor to protect the building more. you have some other issues too -- instead of building a monolithic slab ( build>Floor>foundation) for you garage floor you have concrete slabs , and one is floating 12" above the floor which you can see through the siding, delete them and build the foundation. -- you have designated the upper floor as "Attic" that is why you can see the floor sticking through the roof in several spots , make the area inside the knee walls a Bedroom / office or unspecified even. The two areas outside the knee walls should be designated Attic though to clean things up. -- Fascia on the Dormer was too small usually fascia is one size larger than the rafters so you have room for the soffit, and I adjusted the auto windo which are never the real size eg 4'x4' works nicely. -- Is your garage really 12' 8" tall? , just wanted to check.... also your garage doors are 10'x10' which is an unusual size..... unless this is a Mechanic's Shop or something? I'll attach the doctored plan below , but not sure you can open it... detached garage.plan

did you try 3D warehouse? you might need to refine your search terms , to the items you need as the term "shopfittings" didn't get too many hits... https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=shopfittings&rsi=sbis&backendClass=entity
-
I have done exactly what you want many times using the Mezzanine technique for warehouses , you don't have you use the space above for anything or , put stairs etc up there that's a design choice , and done that way you get all the framing etc too. , it's no different than building a two storey house ...very easy once you do it once... here's a quick plan for you... Warehouse_Mezzanine Floor.plan and some pics M

yep post the plan , and like Eric my guess is Attic wall maybe not set on the gable ends. you can use the Snipping Tool to take picks of problems , no need to print to PDF , see 2nd link in my Sig . if needed for a how to post
-
1/2 walls are not designed ( programmed) for that use , you basically are creating a Loft or mezzanine area so look at this article http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00210/ or the older one I still have Mezzanine Floor-Balconey.pdf a forum search on Warehouses ,should find you other posts too where we have dealt with this before.

A TopoSurvey would give you some good numbers to start with but importing a complicated one rather than just using the numbers from some of the main features can really bring your computer to it's knees graphics wise, so I usually do as David suggested above. If your City has a GIS service there maybe some terrain data available there , not sure how helpful Google Earth is but the Pro version is now free and may have height data etc esp. if you are in the US. M.
-
not sure about Pro David it was the only reason I could think of for not being able to select something, but looking at the plan might help .
-
Did you use the Painter Tool too change the material? Attic Walls are Auto Walls , so it is best to either change the material in the Attic Wall's DBX and hit ok where you will get an "error" message , http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00872/ hit yes that way that wall will no longer auto update when everything else is rebuilt , you may have to alter the wall in other ways too if you change the building etc though as it wont be an auto wall any longer. the other way would be on the attic level to draw your own exterior wall over the auto walls and specify the wall as needed. M.
-
better than my explanation and how I learnt to do it....
-
sounds like it maybe on a locked layer so you can't select it,... check in your Display Options DBX , perhaps its an old CAD Line Or Polyline? or post the plan so someone can look at it for you

How to edit materials for multiple kitchen cabinets etc.
Kbird1 replied to Don_Anderson's topic in Q&A
hi . 1. Cherry material is under Materials >Wood>Cherry in the Core Library , then use the Plan Defaults>Materials>Cabinets and >Doors/Panel items to change them all ( do countertops here too) which is quicker than using the plan defaults>Cabinets>Base >Wall etc etc settings. 2. once group selected use the open icon on the edit toolbar or RC only on the centre Handle of your group selection should work too to get the RC Menu. 3. see above 4.Change the Wall Cabinet Specs in Plan Defaults>Cabinets>Wall 5 some Wolf appliances are here to download otherwise get a 3D Model from 3D warehouse, you cant use a Pic as a 3D model https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_id=3044 6. you do spec. back splash separately on the cabinet's general tab, I would guess whichever template you used , has them off for wall cabinets but on for corner cabinets. ( you can also change that in the Plan defaults (wrench icon) >Cabinets section) A Tip: post the plan if you want others to look at stuff further , there are way too many settings to guess at and you'll get better and more definitive answers. -
you don't need the Soffit , the Room Divider is a wall so will accept an Outlet ...which should be a GFI in a Kitchen BTW , as long as you don't join the RD Wall to another wall I think it should be fine , it worked fine in a quick test I did lining the RDW up with the cabinet or Partition edge , you can even hang one in midair apparently edit I see Eric posted while I was Playing.....

looks possibly like Print Preview Mode to me Keith ( Alt+F2) or on my Toogle Toolbar just beside the Temp. Dimensions Button is an icon that looks like a sheet of Paper with the corner turned down and a magnifying glass, my guess you clicked it ,when toggling the Temp Dimensions on and off
