best to call and ask Sales/CS direct if you are in the US. https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/#contact

In this case I customised an Existing material ....Fir Framing , and changed the sizes, spacing and texture (picture) , there are some Tutorials in the KB on this kind of thing. The KB is always a good place to start if you have questions, lots of good tutorials there http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00924/49/Home-Designer/Materials/Customizing-a-Material.html http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00138/49/Home-Designer/Materials/Adding-a-Custom-Material.html http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-01084/49/Home-Designer/Materials/Creating-a-Custom-Library-Material.html http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-01202/49/Home-Designer/Materials/Importing-Custom-Materials.html http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00863/49/Home-Designer/Materials/Rotating-the-Direction-of-a-Material.html http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00732/49/Home-Designer/Materials/Incorporating-Colors-from-Photographs-or-Websites-into-your-Designs.html

well in case someone else asks the same question there is a Tutorial in the KnowledgeBase (KB) here http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00484/

sounds like your Roofs : Labels are turned off in Tools> Display Options , make sure DISP column is checked , I think off is the Default , it is in Pro.

you could also add a pic you took of a sign to a Picture Frame , see some signs here too https://www.google.ca/search?q=quiet+please+sign&biw=1633&bih=897&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=2BthVafUEIaoogTEzIGIAQ&ved=0CBwQsAQ this KB Article should help , and the related KB's at the bottom too http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00137/

KayNine also posted these in the off-topic area https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/990-good-sites-for-3d-symbols/#entry5702

We need them here too so I made some out of the standard framing materials a while back in both 1 3/4" wide and 3" wide at 12 and 16" oc , so you can try these ones I made and see if they work for you.... note they are not true 3D objects so may not show in all views . Import them as normal or double click on the file to install, then when you define your wall, choose the spacing and size needed in the wall Layer as needed and set the thickness , usually 3/8" here if treated ply or 3/4" if treated 1x3.. easiest way to find out would be to download the Free Trial and play with it , only restriction is you Cant save files till you activate it https://homedesigner.chiefarchitect.com/products/trial.html HD Pro can import 3D Models off 3D Warehouse and from other sources too but making 3D Models is limited , you'd need Chief for that. Need help creating a "dugout/egress-walkout" basement
Kbird1 replied to Barn_Project15's topic in Q&A
As I mentioned it's always a good idea to post the plan so people can have a look at the issues for you otherwise we are just guessing as every situation is different , and since suite only has auto Roof ,you may need to use room divider walls to get the roof to build ,but can't try it with your plan. The rest shouldn't be to difficult. Don't have Suite so not sure if your have the "Flat Terrain Tool" as I'm not sure if you mean the Flat region tool or the elevation Region tool ? this might help http://homedesigner....-Basement-.html Other Terrain KB Articles http://homedesigner....signer/Terrain/- 3 replies

looking good ...haven't tried it but you should be able to use PTP Dimensions to go diagonally each way to check for "square" same as I'd do on the job. yes with the changes , if you don't upgrade every year to the new version of Pro for $99 it can hurt a few years down the line when you have to pay $295 , so you might as well pay each year and have the latest and greatest rather than upgrade one ever 3-4 yrs as it costs the same now... you need to start charging some of your customers , so at the very least you can afford to update. Yes, ask your Architect joking aside....https://www.jameshardie.com/Products/HardiePanel-Vertical-Siding

might be best to ask on the Roomplanner App Forum , personally I am not familiar with it. should be same password /ID over there I think https://roomtalk.chiefarchitect.com/

Yep I tried the lowercase after the uppercase placed smileys on every one , I was trying to label it like you did in your uploaded images for easy reference.. I can't mark your post as answered , only you can do that, (slip of the mouse? ) and I did think it a bit weird that "you should post the PDFs" was the answer.... Yes I think this year they changed the upgrade price from $200 to $295? if you are more than a year behind (which is only $99) , had thought I might get my old Pro 10 updated too but decided to get Chief in the end when it was on Sale.

Years since I saw Plans , where the Mantra was "Provide as little detail as possible, so no-one can say no" , I hope you have more info than this to work from and a recent Topo Survey or at least the old ones , you sure pick'em Keith , I hope at least This Client is paying you. it is do-able .............. I'll attach the plan , Eric will be able to open it I think but you won't unless you upgrade to 2016 My Petrol Station 19.05.15._X7plan.plan There are no doubt better ways but basically what I did was..... - Drew Existing Salesroom (ES) 4 walls - group selected all 4 walls, and used Transform Replicate to rotate to -9.5 ° (allows you to draw other buildings at 0°) - Drew 1st Workshop (with 2x8m bumpout on the Front) , well up the plan 25 m or so, ie. separate building (a - Drew New Showroom with workshop Extension as a separate building (b - group selected building (a and slide it down to touch Building (b - group selected (ES) walls again and slide up and over towards Build (b until I was happy with placement 4-5m away then extended front wall towards Building (b until it hit the Corner of (b - extended back wall of (ES) up 2-3 m ( mark no room def) -extended back wall of (a down until about 2m into new Showroom area (11m?) (mark no room def) - drew new wall connecting both extended walls while holding the Control key till they snap together. ( mark wall "no room Def too so Roofs wont build there) -Group Selected EVERYTHING ,transform replicate , rotate back to 0° so (ES) is now straight up and down ie 90° to Road. - Set up Roof/wall gable /shed etc settings and built roof . - Built Foundation.. Hope this helps some... Mick. PS how do you stop the forum from making ( B ) into these
-
Are you doing something special ? cos generally the Auto roof tool does a good job of curved Roofs over Curved walls.
-
Post the PDF's Keith cos from the Air it looks like 3 Buildings , yet you have drawn it all as one so I am confused and looking at the Aerial shot I wouldn't say any of the building was at 90° to the Road. your two Plots don't match in size either , and the Aerial suggests the LH side isn't straight , though it maybe , in which case I'd say your buildings are to far left ,and shouldn't be parallel to the PL if the fence in the Aerial is the PL.?

I would say you are just not zooming in close enough to get the dimension to locate properly and you should use the Point to Point Dim. Tool, not End to End , if you are a little off , zoom in and drag the PTP Marker ( the cross) to where you need it. Step by Step 1.) Take Back Clipped Elevation View (after Building the Framing) 2.) Open Display Options and uncheck a.) Walls normal b.) Walls Foundation (or Slabs) (what do you have?) c.) a. Roofs Planes ,b.Framing Roofs d.) Check Framing Walls is on (checked) e.) Moldings f.) Floor Surfaces g.) may need to turn off other things depending on what is in your model ,Door and Windows don't show if no Walls, Normal is uncheck a.) above 3.) Use PTP Dimension tool and Text Boxes/Text Boxes with Arrows to Label as needed. Edit : While playing a bit more with this I realised that, when you take the initial Back clipped Cross section , you can use the Manual dim. Tool the PTP Dim Tool, and the ETE Dim Tool , and THEN TURN OFF everything above and they will stay . ( make sure all dims and Text items are ON in Display Options) these might help too http://homedesigner.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00927/74/Home-Designer/Dimensions/Dimensioning-Cabinets-in-a-Wall-Elevation.html http://homedesigner.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01002/74/Home-Designer/Dimensions/Using-the-Dimension-Tools.html

only suggestion I have would be to double check the KB Article here http://homedesigner.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00111/ or try say Arial or a Fixed width Font instead.
-
they should be , post a pic of what you are seeing , my signature has a link to a how to if you need it. be a good idea to add your title to your sig . as it is relevant to a lot of questions
-
sounds like you may have select room before wall set in the preferences, is one thought and another would be how are you selecting ? left click or Right ? do you have double click to select on? under context menus? if you have issues it is best to post the plan so we can look at it , and help you efficiently, see my sig. for a how too good idea to add you software version to your Signature too , so you don't have to do it every question.
-
If you have more than one wall to place at an angle , you can also add additional Snap Angles to the Plan under Edit>Defaults>Plan>Allowed Angles. , you might want to use 15° and 9° so HD doesn't try to Snap to 7.5° and 9° though. M.

With the HD Program Open , just double click on the file, where-ever you downloaded it too and you will find the new library in your USER LIBRARY under STAINLESS STEEL. if that doesn't work for some reason you can also use the Library>Import Library>Import Calibz File option from the manual from the menu select Library> Import Library to display the Import Library Data dialog. Browse to the .calibz file that you want to import and select the file so that its name displays in the File Name field. Click the Open button. A progress bar will display, telling you the progress of each library data file as it is imported. Once imported, each file will be located in the User Catalog of the Library Browser.
