  1. I see you have Premier. You are on the Home Designer forum. You want ChiefTalk.
  2. Your plan has some problems that I could not fix. Copied the first floor to a new plan, built a new second floor. Take a look at this plan. I did not use the Open Below, just reduced the 2nd floor, floor structure and raised the 1st floor ceiling to 126" Shawn Porch (eric).plan
  3. Don't mess with the floor. Think of it this way. The first floor area of the porch has no ceiling, and the second floor of the room above has no floor (you set it to Open Below). Just set the ceiling height of the 2nd floor room where it needs to be -- like 20", or what ever you need to add to the first floor to get the required height. The reason you added the 2nd floor is so you could make adjustments without changing the first floor.
  4. That second floor room over the porch needs to be Open Below, and the porch should have Ceiling Over This Room unchecked. You are essentially using the second floor ceiling as the ceiling for the porch. Go to second floor and click on one of the walls. In the Edit Toolbar, there is a tool that will align the wall with the one below. Just mouse over them to find it.
  5. That roof will be difficult, if not impossible to model in Suite using the standard roof tools. Home Designer Pro would be easy. See if you can open and work with this file. Smoketree plan-CURRENT-5-30-NEW MSTR BATH (eric).zip

    No Black Lines

That is a vector view, and it's not available in Suite.
  7. I don't think Pro is capable of this.
  8. How did you add the materials?

    wall breaks

There is no Remove Wall Break tool. They normally go away when the wall on both sides of the break is the same. You can always drag one wall over the break to merge the walls either side of the break, but the walls must be the same.
  10. This is probably the best first post I've seen. Good description of the problem and what you are thinking as a solution. Attached appropriate pictures, the plan, and even filled out your sig. Good job! I'd build the patio just as you said. For the front, do the same, but add a second floor above creating the part that extends above the roof.
  11. No need to use the control key unless you want to override snaps. Doing so is usually not a good idea as you will locate items imprecisely. The dimensions displayed are rounded. Click a dimension to see the actual. It will often end in something like .1296756 instead of .125.
  12. I don't see a Home Designer Essentials on the website. Is this an older version? That's because snaps are off. If your snap grid is set to 1", things will move in 1" increments.
  13. I'm guessing you have Auto Exterior Dimensions turned on. You can turn them off, you can delete them (Edit>Delete Objects), or you may be able to hide them with Layer Display Options. If you delete them, you can get them all back by turning Auto Dimensions back on.
  14. I'll try and tie things together. The way your walls are structured prevents the program from running the exterior surface down to cover the gap you are seeing. Building the floor framing fills in the gap (with wood using the default settings). That's why the suggestions to fix the walls. In the US, a SIP is typically two outer skins of OSB, or plywood, with a foam core. You can get them with a finish cladding on the interior and exterior, but they are the exception. Don't know about where you are, but here, the exterior cladding is normally attached after the walls are placed.
  15. Please explain. What dimensions, and what grid?

    Adjacent pony walls

Draw the pony wall. Take an elevation. Select the upper or lower part of the wall, break it with the break tool (3 on the keyboard), shape as needed.
  17. You are missing the floor framing, not the floor. Build the framing and the gap will fill in. Your finished floor surface is there in a camera view.
  18. Check your wall layer definition. Those SIP walls confuse the program. I moved the exterior material outside of the main layer. Next door (eric).plan
  19. Does Interiors have the ability to set the wall thickness? This is from Suite. Maybe the extra $20.00 is worth it? For the sofa, it's usually a good idea to attach the plan file -- make sure it's not open in the program, for this type of problem. And let us know where the sofa came from. The library or other website.
  20. @Fredric -- You can always start a new thread with questions. Things like placing an outlet on an island are doable.
  21. @Griffin Are you using Chief Architect or one of the Home Designer titles? I believe only Chief has the ability to create Layer Sets.

  25. In the build roof dialog, set the pitch of the roof to match the sloped ceiling. Set the high wall to high shed/full gable. Set the end walls to full gable. In the Room Specification dialog, set the ceiling height to match where the sloped ceiling intersects the wall. Turn off Auto Rebuild Roof. In the Room Specification dialog, set the ceiling height to its proper height.
