L-shaped roof with 3 gable ends and strange diagonal edge
LawB10 replied to ErlendArge's topic in Q&A
What was the reason for raising the ceiling height? No it's not an error, this is what happens when you change ceiling heights -
Like the others have said, build the foundation, use a doorway and remove the casing, create the perimeter and then uncheck automatic and flatten pad, to raise the pad, lower the number, to lower the pad, raise the number. All the rooms in the house has "Floor supplied by the foundation below" and Monolithic slab checked, uncheck those two and the floor heights return their defaults. I did this and everything fell into place. To paint the sides use a soffit. Use the plan check tool, you have 30 errors on the 1st floor and 9 on the 2nd floor. What's the deal with fake fireplace in LR? click>build>fireplace or search the library Remove the two bifold doors for the dining room and replace with a single bifold door. Last, Too all Pro users, it helps HDA and HDS users alot, if you unlock the plan so that it can be edited. You can only look at in HDA and HDS.

Here what I came up with.. I created a salt box roof, then lowered it to 60", turned off auto rebuild roofs and reset back to default ceiling height. Next I lowered the full cabinets to 71". I used windows and soffits for the other cabinets, you have to use the shape tool to match the roof and then resize. loft cabinet.plan

Chief, For the 3rd time post the plan please!!!

There's other problems with the plan. 90% of the displays are unchecked, you don't see roofs, cabinets, fixtures, terrain features etc: in doll house view, only with the floor camera. There is a attic wall that invisible? Both floor and ceiling structures are set 0"? The whole floor is carpet by default including the Kitchen, Garage and Porch? The roof doesn't build in doll house view. The terrain perimeter doesn't show in doll house view Sorry to say, but that plan needs to be rebuilt using the default settings set by the software.

Like solver said in Suite you have use soffits or a box shape to get the look you want. Also when you add a material don't use the Room painter tool ® as it paints all the walls in that room, use the Component © or Object painter (O) tool. You might want to try the chair rail tool, it might help you out.

Here's what I came up with.... john 2.planjohn 2-1.plan

Are you trying to put a garage door in the basement? Is there a reason that the floor structure is 20 3/4 " ? Can you post a picture of what the problem is? Lastly your gonna have to rebuild the foundation, it's not correct. Save the plan as 1830 Ranch-1 and rebuild the foundation, then compare the numbers to the original plan.
-
I meant to say " you will have to rebuild the plan" You keep auto rebuild on until the roof is how you want it. 601- 1.plan
-
Or you can go to the 2nd floor and delete the side walls and drag the wall until it connects, that will fill in the hole you have. However that's not the problem(s) you will have.... When you use the break wall tool on the rail, and you gable it, it will cause more roof problems when you build it. Delete the side rail on the wall, it's not needed. To see how the software works, check auto rebuild and see what happens and then uncheck ignore 2nd floor and see what happens. To sum it up, you will rebuild the plan.
-
see #4 or click rebuild foundation, uncheck room supplies floor for the 1st and foundation floors and reset your defaults
-
Post the plan please. You turned auto rebuild off, what ever it did automatically, you will now have to do manually.
-
Align the foundation wall manually. With Auto rebuild off, any exterior wall you move will have to be aligned manually
-
David, take a look at the roof, it looks to be a combination Hip and what looks like a Mansard. LeeBur is that true???? I have Suite, so it's going to be tough, with Pro and Premier it shouldn't be problem. I guessing where it starts and where it ends.

Objects and fixtures you import from 3d warehouse will not be recognized by the software. You can fake it by using the electrical panel from the library, and then use standalone meters from 3d warehouse. That way your electrical connector(s) will work when applied to the panel, not the meters.
-
uncheck upper pitch, that will give you a full gable wall. If you want different materials for each wall, simply choose the material and apply, using the material painter tool. Use either Object (O) or Component ©, do not use F or P

If you get a SEH message in red, that will make that plan sluggish and slow...sometimes it fixes it self and the plan works normally.
-
LeeBur, If you can, upload pictures of the house, the front, rear and both sides. I already rebuilt the plan, I just don't know what the roof looks like... I could have fixed the plan if it wasn't locked. Go to edit>preferences>general>file management and check "disable file lock"

LeeBur, Your plan had me completely confused, what were you thinking when you built it? The dining, family and kitchen is a deck, the two door entry is useless as you cant get to the interior of the house. The second and third floors don't connect to the first floor. The 3rd floor needs to be rebuilt using exterior walls instead of rails, again what were you thinking? Extend the perimeter so that it's beyond the trees. Lower the perimeter by raising terrain height number. For the landings don't change the defaults The reason the balcony did not show, was because the wall was a attic wall, which was corrected when you redrew it. The stairs on the third floor are not needed if there's no fourth floor. The whole plan needs to be rebuilt. Please pay attention to how it's laid out.

Download the James Hardie collection from the site....

Suite doesn't have sloped soffits, You can search 3d warehouse for the beam and edit it using sketchup.
-
Please post the plan. It appears you have some room dimensions wrong.
-
Download the trial version of Pro and/or Premier to see what David is saying, the problem can be fixed in HDA if you extend the slope downward It can't be fixed with the gable roof.

veranico, Sorry to say, but with the interior roof the problem can't be fixed. HDA doesn't allow interior roofs. I would suggest rebuild the roof and then use a sloped soffit and/or a shape the emulate a interior roof. Also change the eave and gable overhang to 4" or more. Like David said build a second floor and make it open below.

I'm trying figure out what is the issue? Like it's been mentioned, that's the way the software works, Suite has limited editing tools, to get something how you want it, you may have upgrade to pro.
