  1. I recently upgraded from HDPro 2018 - to the current version 2020. All good - some great new bells and whistles. I like it allot. However, I notice that the great feature under Print - 'Print Model' has been removed. I queried this with 'support' and they confirmed it was dropped a while back. Well as I have jumped 2 versions - and it is in HDPro 2018 - I guess it happened in 2019? I am disappointed to see this clever devise print option disappear. Not everyone can step into stl files and a 3D printer as the alternative - it seems. Under tools - I see 'Loan Calculator' - and 'Reverse Plan' remain in 2020. Well all I can say is if someone can't use a calculator on a loan summary and can't learn how to mirror a plan manually instead of using these two features- then I am really surprised. These are surely two redundant tools? Could I suggest trading these two rather simple 'Tools' - for a return of Print Model please kind sirs? Keep up the good work.
  2. Hi there....I have had similar issue in the past, have you tried just material painting tool on that area; Also on the mismatched fascia or verge board...paint it to match the others? I recall solving my model issue that way. the other thing I now check is the room definition for the outside porch area; ive also learnt this the hard way.....it's the good part of HDPro....it's smart. im a novice with it and every day is learning the ropes.......but still I use it in a similar way to yourself... the manuals and books did help me though. give them a go it saved me some time I must say. They are good tools to have. cheers.
  3. Real-Time Ray Tracing with the new physically-based rendering technique - - this is what is stated on the what's new page re 2020..? having now downloaded a trial version....where is the feature located?
  4. I discovered something today - that floor plans are printable from within the floor plan working area; Just got it! The drawing sheet on the floor plan is turned on under View\Drawing Sheet - see image. The Drawing Sheet can be selected like other objects on floor plan and moved to suit. This can also be shown and printed from all floor levels thru to the attic - meaning I can print all floor plans with the drawing sheet positioned suitably over all floor plan levels; ( So they look similar in presentation) This meant I can now save views and drop them onto floor plans over each level.... So, it means I am not limited to just one layout for HDPro - as I can have as many levels as I like displaying whatever I like -before I even start to use my single Layout file. This was an opportune discovery for me. But a very useful find indeed in regards to limited output of HD. Anyway - this feature may be useful to other users? Working to print from multiple floor plans as well as a layout file - is of great value to my day to day workings. Note - the first image below is from the 1st floor plan level - its not a Layout file. Happy modelling.
  5. This is helpful comment, as I was keen to hear about this new ray tracing feature.

    HDPro 2020

This is listed as a new feature for the new HD Pro 2020 version on the CA website. Is this feature similar to current raytarce workings in CA? Can anyone offer some comment in this regard please? I've lodged a support ticket seeking follow up query - I'm looking at moving to the new version - soon. Thankyou.
  7. Build the object, walls and fascia/pelmet, as one element in Sketchup - and import it. Sketchup seems to have been offered as advice before with tricky contemporary designer elements. Or - just be content with a couple of seems as you have now? It looks great. imo
  8. Can I ask Seabeemike - why you were asked to provide your design on this larger sheet size. Just curious. Maybe less sheets or something else? Was the scale requirement also stipulated? Thanks in advance.
  9. Hi - Im only a novice user - but using under room specification the Use Soffit Surfaces for Ceiling - works for me in the past; Then I go to Build\Framingf\Floor/Ceiling Beam - insert on plan; then adjust height position and dimensional preferences you like; Likewise with post of the truss arrangement. An image of a quick solution below; Not sure if this is what you want - colours can be painted to suit. There are people here who know allot more shortcuts than me. Cheers.
  10. Hopefully - these screen shots of my model explain what I did to achieve this; I have highlighted the storey in purple and room area specification info I utilised to do this with; I also placed a capping on the balustrade wall/parapet - whatever you guys call it. Hope this helps explanation. I could post the model I guess - if necessary. Regards.
  11. It's late night here in Aus so I'll open the file tomorrow......I thought I may have adjusted the wall height manually but just let me check that and get back to you. It was a sort of scratch and see...experimentation with the software use at the time. But quite achievable I recall.
  12. I utilise floors and turn off roof components for the 'riad' look...if that helps? Create a room type - that is externally located, that is a slab. It took me a while to work it out to make it all look right - but client was happy. Thing is I often create things to work for me - but forget how I did it... I now make shorthand notes in a book. ( Not digitally - I use a notepad and pencil.) Also easily found when needed.
  13. Why are we talking about window schedules here - This is a HD forum? Is it not? Schedules are not part of my HDPro.

    Polyline Holes

It may be referring to slabs......but then my signature is a mere 1 liner...other forum contributors far exceed my talents there.

    3 D View

Hey there, can you post the file here so it can be viewed by others? Just a suggestion.
  16. I don't live in the USA - but in any case this HDPro forum is not limited to just USA members - so my advice, for what it is worth here - would be to engage a professional.
  17. Here in 'Help' - info I have used in the past; 'Winders' qthelp://chiefarchitect.com.chiefarchitect.hdpro.2018/doc/dq5112019.htm Cheers.
  18. For an entire plan ' from start to end' - This video was a help for me as a novice in the world of HDPro. I watched a bit - then copied it whilst on pause - then watched the next bit - and ditto...
  19. Answered From Support as follows - for those who may be interested; "When an automatic roof is generated, the program tries to create roof planes that join together to form a single, integrated system. Different parts of the structure influence how the roof is generated over the whole. When you need the roof planes over an area of a plan to be entirely separate from those over the rest of the structure, you can assign those areas to a non-default Roof Group. The program treats different Roof Groups as separate buildings for the purpose of automatic roof generation, preventing their roofs from influencing one another."So, for example, if you have a house with a turret at one corner, and you don't want the roof over the turret to blend into the roof over the main house, you could put the turret room in Roof Group 1 instead of 0. Thank you to 'Support'.
  20. Just toggle the Views\ Toolbars button?? Works on my version...
  21. Wow - That's no simple porch....it's more like the east elevation of the Taj Mahal?
  22. Hullo Forum. Looking at this option under Room Specification - ' Option - Roof Group'. ( See attached image ) What might this be used for? Is it just an arbitrary option that allows you to nominate a roof area as a group of roof plans, with same material, slope/pitch - etc. If so, where and when can you recall this group - as a 'Roof Group'? Does it appear in the materials listings as a group? Apart from this perhaps - I can't see where else in my version - HDP 2018. I have assumed that this roof group - can be edited collectively. Anything else? Thanks in advance.
  23. I was coincidentally looking for similar - and found this; Rendering Tips qthelp://chiefarchitect.com.chiefarchitect.hdpro.2018/doc/ea4386870.htm Read on......
  24. I am impressed. I will try this excercise. Thankyou. Now that is not in the Reference Manual.
  25. So by 'Global' do you mean every Sketchup object item known to 'modern man'.....Wow.... that's going to be one big library file? Why would you want that I ask? What's the issue with specific items as required? I import Sketchup objects via ArchiCAD into HDPro2018 - successfully, free and much better unique ideas and files. Cheers.
