    Polyline Holes

It may be referring to slabs......but then my signature is a mere 1 liner...other forum contributors far exceed my talents there.

    3 D View

Hey there, can you post the file here so it can be viewed by others? Just a suggestion.
  3. I don't live in the USA - but in any case this HDPro forum is not limited to just USA members - so my advice, for what it is worth here - would be to engage a professional.
  4. Here in 'Help' - info I have used in the past; 'Winders' qthelp://chiefarchitect.com.chiefarchitect.hdpro.2018/doc/dq5112019.htm Cheers.
  5. For an entire plan ' from start to end' - This video was a help for me as a novice in the world of HDPro. I watched a bit - then copied it whilst on pause - then watched the next bit - and ditto...
  6. Answered From Support as follows - for those who may be interested; "When an automatic roof is generated, the program tries to create roof planes that join together to form a single, integrated system. Different parts of the structure influence how the roof is generated over the whole. When you need the roof planes over an area of a plan to be entirely separate from those over the rest of the structure, you can assign those areas to a non-default Roof Group. The program treats different Roof Groups as separate buildings for the purpose of automatic roof generation, preventing their roofs from influencing one another."So, for example, if you have a house with a turret at one corner, and you don't want the roof over the turret to blend into the roof over the main house, you could put the turret room in Roof Group 1 instead of 0. Thank you to 'Support'.
  7. Just toggle the Views\ Toolbars button?? Works on my version...
  8. Wow - That's no simple porch....it's more like the east elevation of the Taj Mahal?
  9. Hullo Forum. Looking at this option under Room Specification - ' Option - Roof Group'. ( See attached image ) What might this be used for? Is it just an arbitrary option that allows you to nominate a roof area as a group of roof plans, with same material, slope/pitch - etc. If so, where and when can you recall this group - as a 'Roof Group'? Does it appear in the materials listings as a group? Apart from this perhaps - I can't see where else in my version - HDP 2018. I have assumed that this roof group - can be edited collectively. Anything else? Thanks in advance.
  10. I was coincidentally looking for similar - and found this; Rendering Tips qthelp://chiefarchitect.com.chiefarchitect.hdpro.2018/doc/ea4386870.htm Read on......
  11. I am impressed. I will try this excercise. Thankyou. Now that is not in the Reference Manual.
  12. So by 'Global' do you mean every Sketchup object item known to 'modern man'.....Wow.... that's going to be one big library file? Why would you want that I ask? What's the issue with specific items as required? I import Sketchup objects via ArchiCAD into HDPro2018 - successfully, free and much better unique ideas and files. Cheers.
  13. I have a question for you - what are you asking about please? And I think your caps lock is on......?
  14. I know them as 'treads' and not 'threads'? Is this a US term? Assuming from what I have read here, that's what we are talking about.

    DXF to .plan

But a dxf file is a CAD data file. It will open as just lines and arcs etc inHDPro - won't it? The dxf is not going to be a three dimensional import like a 3ds or stl perhaps. Dxf is fine for electronic drawing board 2 dimensional CAD.....with no BIM or 3D data. I would guess you would have to spend allot of time expanding with trace overs etc to produce your HDPro model. Rather a slow process from my past experience.
  16. This option with stairs could be a good idea as an inclusion for the 'Suggestions' forum page? I'm also all for this to be shown correctly on my plans- Why not add it to the list?
  17. For me, with three point perspective/camera views - Standing too close to the target with a wide camera viewing angle (Field Of View) of more than 60 degrees - will distort things out of sight. I move away from the target, then ensure my camera viewing angle is a maximum of 60degrees (Default is 55 Degrees) - and things start to appear, well sorta normal. That's been my experience - for what it's worth. Hope I am not intruding here.
  18. Here ya go...just another bundle of usable goodies... Hope this aids your decision?

    virtual tour

I use HDPro 2018, for my own reasons and for some of my own clients and for the right project - and I am a professional Architect in my 60's. The use of Home Designer is not restricted in any way to DYI's - I wouldn't think. It's the decision of the individual as to which program is best, surely. I note also that there is a 'Seeking Services' on the Home Designer Forums page.

    Dome homes

Now you're talking.....That's a dome-home, or two....even. Note - the Home Designer Core Catalogue - has a folder with domes and spheres in it, that you could place in a model - but as to editing them, adding windows etc....I have never seen this exhibited anywhere in this forum. Sounds like a job for other software editors perhaps.......an 'igloo' tool.
  21. David - yes -I have found the Ambient Occlusion slider and the Bloom tick box in General Camera Default...Thanks for that tip. And Eric, thanks for the suggestion - I did a search in a number of places before posting - Nil results. Ambient occlusion is a method to approximate how bright light should be shining on any specific part of a surface, based on the light and it's environment. The strength of the bloom effect is largely determined by the range and the strength of the blur filter used. The resulting blurred texture is what we use to get the glow or light-bleeding effect. Cheers .
  22. Hi - The 2018 software update suggests one new feature as follows - 'Enhanced Render Features, Ambient Occlusion, Bloom, Normal Maps and Bump Maps are all elements that can be leveraged in Rendered Views'. I have updated to the new 2018 HDPro - and I have spent a while trying to find these new features. Has anyone else also done so - and if so, where are they located please? I can't find them. ( EG., Define Material window - not there, Rendering Technique options - not there....Ref. Manual Chapter 31 - nothing?) Thanks in advance.
  23. I can agree that the reference manual is well written. My only comment is that linking steps similar to those you offered to me to solve my situation is difficult to make work thru simple reference manual application. You need a starting point, and a good one in that. If I had perceviered at the level i was at before I asked the question that I asked the forum, I would still be floundering about with possibly very little gain or advancement. Thank goodness for the user forum as a venue for these shortcuts and explanations. Regards.
  24. Thank-you David - That instruction all worked perfectly for me. No problems at all. Transform/Replicate Object appears only (from what I can find) as an icon - bottom left corner of screen. Not under the edit dropdown menu. In my HDPro. Your input is the 'HDPro/CA Logic' that can only come from years of using the software. Not by reading the reference Manual. (Which btw, I have open every time I edit.) I was heading towards creating an ArchitecturalBlock of everything and rotating that - then exploding it back again. So many Thanks for your time/ input.
  25. OK Thanks David - I note you have made that exclaimation in other earlier posts that I have found - numerous times. I only found these after searching the forum history post my forum entry. However, my building needs to be aligned with x-y grid which is apparently what the program needs to function correctly. This I was advised by the CA support to resolve some conflicting wall intersections in the 3D views. Nothing too much of a drama, just trying to align things correctly, as it should be. Rotating the terrain is not an answer as it's not what is trying to be resolved here. It's the rotation relative to the x-y grid - see the plan. If these odd angles of some walls are defined in the snap angles (other than the 7.5 and 15degree defaults.) and aligned accordingly with these then I have been told that this is the correct procedure. (By CA) Its the mechanics of rotation about a centre point of a selected group that I need explained. I have no personal need to return with agonising replys. Thankyou.
