  1. The suggested answers don't really reflect the image you posted - your image shows a cut-away garage not a ramped access garage? Not sure how this solves the question's you had regarding 'subterranean garages'? Does it?

    Text in 3d?

I bought this library for a specific project - it's great value.
  3. So are you asking on how to build a skillion or single pitch roof - as per the topmost floor in the sample design photo you posted? Thanks. (PS I thin you guys call this roof a shed style?) Jeff.
  4. Is this sketch plan you have here drawn to scale ? Can you place a few dimensions on it so it can be modelled? Thanks in advance. I'm not a fan of opening random plan files on offer at this forum - would rather start from scratch on it. Jeff.
  5. Try this ...See Reference Manual.... Note - 'Roof Groups' are found on the 'General' tab of a Room Specification. ROOF GROUPS When an automatic roof is generated, the program tries to create roof planes that join together to form a single, integrated system. Different parts of the structure influence how the roof is generated over the whole. When you need the roof planes over an area of a plan to be entirely separate from those over the rest of the structure, you can assign those areas to a non-default Roof Group. The program treats different Roof Groups as separate buildings for the purpose of automatic roof generation, preventing their roofs from influencing one another. Bear in mind that the use of Roof Groups typically involves using a combination of both automatic roof generation and manual roof editing, and that changes to Attic walls may also be necessary. See Using Both Techniques on page 557. Roof Groups are assigned using numbers. The Default Roof Group is always 0, and you can assign rooms to other roof groups in the Room Specification dialog. See General Panel on page 300.
  6. I just create some new wall definitions that define the difference between an existing wall and a new wall; There is also a wall hatch tool that I have used to differentiate a particular type of wall - say 'exisitng', on my drawings. Hope that adds some thought on the subject for you. Jeff. PS - Make sure the layer Walls, Hatching is on - to show it.
  7. Looks like a job for a manually built roof to me? Or is it already?
  8. I understood that it needs to be an application to run on an iPad? Home Designer Pro is not an App. It would be grand if support could offer some confirmation here on this? Jeff.
  9. So what is the benefit of using an allocated point? The elevations cannot be manipulated in the layout other than by guesswork or clever eye judgement- as none of the snap points are available from my use? (or that help) Conventional orthographic projection and good practice drafting (here) provides for elevations and sections to be aligned with corresponding floor levels (or similar); Having a midpoint of an image or elevation sent to layout aligned doesn't really cut it - does it? Do you guys not work similarly with your drawings? This drawing (attached) I aligned the views by guesswork (by eye) and is in no way accurately represented between each view - which it should be. ( IMO) Done in Home designer Pro - not Chief Architect. (BTW) Jeff.Stevens_Kitchen2019_Final_191022.pdf
  10. I don't need all the Math....I find the point to point resizing tool perfect for this. It's use is straightforward. Have used it many times. Never fails.
  11. Try going to preferences, and under 'Render' turn on 'Manage GPU Residency'.... Solved an issue for me as advised by support services at CA. It may work for you.
  12. Well, when I use % signs code - all I get is as its typed - with the % signs. Including the % signs before and after each factor; Its just as easy to enter the details manually as you go, on the fly, as it were - for my work.
  13. Wow - so much discussion on such a simple matter - Any custom materials I have created on the fly are automatically saved in the 'User Catalog'.....So where is the issue? Once they are located there they can be accessed in any plan. These new materials can be filed into folders to suit ones individual needs and classification etc. Am I missing the question here? (again?)
  14. No need for the % coded typed in entry's in Pro 22 - type in what you like under 'specify label' - the window displays custom notes etc. as customised. Or is this for some preset automatic tag to windows other than the preset? Happy labeling.
  15. I have had 2 similar errors running 2022 out of nowhere with similar graphics card? All was working perfectly, and is again presently, apart from these 2 incidents. Feedback from support was to update the drivers (x2); waiting input now from Asus also; I'll look into your solution. Thanks for posting.
  16. I have the 2022 updated HDPro version now and the rendering is noticeably better, the ambient light is more balanced, the materials are crystal sharp and clear. I'm impressed with this alone for the price. You can't knock it for value for money compared to other runners in the field in my opinion. After dollar conversion it cost me $140AU. The saving of unique text notes to library is also a nifty addition for my work. One simple tool that means a lot. Well done Chief.
  17. Create a new wall type as 'existing walls' that mimics the new walls; but change the wall background color so its identified differently as the existing building part; there is a wall hatch tool that just hatches walls on the fly; That's exhausted my capabilities; Good luck.
  18. Maybe this framing thing would be better as a technical question to CA support? It looks a bit weird from here. So the frame is maybe 18-24" lower than the floor level? You might need to upload your plan file for others here to delve into a solution for you. Don't give up on it. Problem solving is part of the learning curve I say to myself often. Especially when time is not on your side. Cheers.
  19. Just as a side issue - that's a lovely looking house.

    Shade sails

There is a purchasable library of Exterior Sail Shades in the Exteriors and Landscaping section of the additional library's at CA; (Additional - because these are additional to the core library's.) You get there thru the Libraries\Get Additional Content Online tab in HDPro. I have used the sails and connector object's and all work very well. They look great. Happy sailing.
  21. Alpha Terra - if you are seeking Home Designer Pro 'polish to design' as you say - then this is the HD Forum. If I wanted Chief Architect polish - then I would post on the Chief Forum. I hope you find the help you seek.
  22. Are you seeking Home Designer assistance or Chief Architect assistance to layout? This is after all the Home Designer forum - not Chief Architect. Isn't it? I always thought it was. I'm not offering btw, just curios as to the suggested resources offered here. Thanks and good luck btw.
  23. Can I ask which material's/finishes in the pic attached to your comment are the ones you have created please?
  24. For this to work I use two slabs - the screed under slab bed is depicted as gravel in these screen shots; This is ok in the 3D visual world but needs drafting using fills in the 2D detail drawings world - easy as really. This is a 6" slab and a 4" screed. Happy modeling.
  25. I have read various comments by users in these forums about the multi-page layout subject, and I have experimented with the multi-page layout on my own projects - and show the results I achieved here; Generally it is stated that it cannot be done - but I seem to have achieved suitable results for my work. So in layout I have created a custom layout sheet size that is dimensionally, 4 x A1pages wide and one A1 page page high; Using a metric A1 sheet that's a layout that measures 594mm high x 3364mm wide (or long, 4 x 841mm =3364mm) An A1 sheet is 23" x 33"....approx. See screen shot attached; So you can delineate these 4 sheets graphically, I have noted these as Sheet1 - Sheet 4 - just for simplicity here across the 3364mm width and then allocated all the drawing material images, plans, elevations - that is needed accordingly where needed on the 4 sheets; Then, when ready to print - nominate the target output sheet, in my example this is an A1 sheet - and save the job as a 4 x A1 sheet pdf file; I have printed the 4 sheets from the one large layout onto 4 x A4 sheets - 'scale to fit' - just for simplicity here; Alternatively - I have also printed the layout as a pdf of the same layout size; Some 24" printers can print one sheet to that length using paper roll feed - not cut sheets; This can be cut into 4 pages once finished/printed; As it is that I use A3 sheets predominantly with drawing output - I am experimenting in testing the limitations of the layout maximum width. According to CA - there isn't any limitation. The results are satisfactory for my multi-page needs and use - from one layout. ( Note - the output nominated print size was adjusted slightly to suit the total page width.) Happy days. 2021_Trevellyan as 4 printed sheets.pdf
