Missing gable walls (rendering shows open to attic)
DavidJPotter replied to RogueBuildersLLC's topic in Q&A
Go to the Attic <A> level, turn on the Floor reference display, so you can see the first floor walls highlighted in RED, then manually draw in the missing gable walls, manually marking then as "Attic Walls, No Locate and No Room Define". Home Designer only automatically adds such walls ONLY if there is a corresponding first floor wall already. That is why you have to add the missing walls manually. DJP -
Materials, visually speaking are emulated using image texture files, so if you replace a material with a color it replaced the texture with a flat color. What you need to then do is replace (put back in place) the texture you wish and then using the "Define Material Definition" tool (tri color icon) you select the material you wish to alter and change its default color with the shade you wish to alter it with, then go to the "Texture Tab" and check the check box that says "Blend with Texture" to then custom adjust the appearance of the material, visually. By using the Cabinet Specification Dialog and doing some manual editing of cabinets. DJP

Home Designer does not natively have that capability to show windows inwards without also showing them outwards, sorry. Your only work around would be to place one inch thick soffitson the outside and soffits on the inside carrying mirror as their material. The same is currently true for Chief Architect Premier. DJP

That has worked for me for about 30 years, take another look, it IS something you are missing, sorry. DJP

You must first set up the following: Drawing Sheet Setup "File - Print - Drawing Sheet Setup" There you set the paper size and drawing scale in its dialog box When you open your layout after setting its attributes you check to make sure the layout is actually displaying the proper virtual paper size using your dimension tool to verify it is correct. If not you manually resize the layout sheet size so it agrees with your intention to print to 11x17 paper. Finally, when you order a Print Dialog to print your layout sheet to paper check to make sure that dialog is displaying your intended paper size AND that the "Print to Scale" check box is checked. Try manually placing the footers and posts to match the posts above but also be aware that if you must then rebuild deck framing, the manual adjustments will be lost and you have to do them over again. DJP

You enclose the porch with railing walls as I already suggested, then using the "Break Wall" tool you use it to divide a small section of that railing wall to detach that segment from the rest of that wall and program that detached segment as "Invisible" thus creating a closed room with an opening it the outer wall. I also looked in X14 and X15 to see if this functionality is possible, it was not in Pro or Premier. But what you can do is to create your cabinets and then create a one inch thick cabinet of what ever type so it emulates a door or doors, that you can then locate on the back of cabinets as a work round to get that look you wish. It may be possible to do this in Pro and Premier but I could not find it if it exists as a function. DJP

The most common cause is that the second floor wall with the "missing" windows is out of alignment with the first floor wall allowing the first floor wall to then cover the windows. Align the two walls and see if that fixes the unwanted result. DJP

Call and ask Chief Architect Sales/Customer Service. I looked and you are right. Looks like the only way to turn off unwanted dimensions would be to delete them... DJP

Library Browser - Materials - Roofing - Shakes, the color can be varied using the "Adjust Material Definition tool and dialog" DJP

Architectural has no strictly manual tools like Pro does. What you would do is to carefullly study the tutorials found in the "Build Roof Dialog - Roof Styles tab" on how to preprogram the Build Roof dialog and Wall specification dialog-Roof Tab settings to achieve the geometry you desire. DJP

Open "Display Options" while in plan view, and uncheck "Dimensions, Automatic". DJP

Problems using transform/replicate to set an electrical panel into a wall
DavidJPotter replied to MCCCcc's topic in Q&A
Just select a new electrical panel symbol from your Library Browser and place it manually, transform-replicate is a valuable tool but in this case it is unnecessary. DJP -
You only need to draw your Porch using railing walls, invisible or visible. The the outermost wall, you open its Specification Dialog - Roof Tab and mark it to be a Gable. That ought to do it. DJP

Auto Save files are for your protection. If you no longer need them as auto back ups, then just delete them, no harm done. Their main purpose is to back up any files than might become corrupted or lost. DJP

Post an image of EXACTLY what you mean and what application you intend to create it with, please. Only then can anyone cogently answer. DJP

Make sure all "Deck" related layers are on when doing so, including framing layers. DJP

How do I get really specific with material on a wall
DavidJPotter replied to Tyler2022's topic in Q&A
In Architectural under cabinets you will find a "Custom Backsplash" tool where you can, while in an elevation view use that tool to draw a custom polyline that defines the area of the custom backsplash you wish to create. You can have multiple such objects on a single wall with different materials as you wish. DJP -
Cant figure out Auto Dimensions not appearing correctly
DavidJPotter replied to JulieJuls's topic in Q&A
It is not programmed to do that, sorry, it can be done manually... DJP -
While a Dollhouse view is open, it has a controlling dialog box that you need to open and uncheck "Show Lower Floor" so all you then see is the floor on which the camera view was ordered/created. This isolates the view to only one floor and not other floors as well. DJP

Cant figure out Auto Dimensions not appearing correctly
DavidJPotter replied to JulieJuls's topic in Q&A
The software is designed to allow dimensioning, either manual or automatic based upon default settings ONLY in elevation or plan views. Dimensioning in 3D cameras is NOT supported. DJP
