  1. Open your Library Browser in your old application and see if you can select those paid for libraries and "Export them" to your Desktop to import into your new application-try that. DJP
  2. Turn off the layer: Framing, Wall while in the camera view, that is if Architectural even has that layer (it does exist in Chief Premier). In terms of Home Designer and Chief Premier you may have to consider upgrading to HD Pro in order to also control framing and framing layers, sorry. DJP
  3. Tomorrow please call Chief Architect customer service or Tech support for source help, please. DJP
  4. Please read this Help article on the Home Designer website. I found it by searching that website using the search term: "Reporting Bugs". DJP
  5. Home Designer software is programmed to not allow any "rooms" on the "Attic Lever or <A>". If you need a room above the first floor <1> you create the attic by creating a new <2> blank floor, then on that new level draw you walls and then it will let you designate an Open Below or other type room. When you generate a floor two you automatically relocate the attic space <A> by creating a second floor. That is how they programmed it to work. DJP
  6. Please watch this video: Update your "Signature", please. In order to help you one must know what version and title name you are using that you need help with. Then it is better to just post a copy, in .zip format so other helpers can actually look at the file and its settings (almost all problems come from incorrect settings). DJP
  7. It is still the case IF you select in a dialog box to "migrate your libraries" from old to new during the installing process of the new version. I am not sure this includes core libraries as those install in a new unit of time during the initial installation, where only Bonus or Manufacturer libraries are migrated IF you, in fact have those types of Library files in the old version to migrate to the new version. DJP
  8. Never had this or heard of anyone else having this as a problem. You might try uninstalling or repairing your Home Designer software with in Windows or if that does not work call Tech Support for help. DJP

    Roof issues

Please post a copy of your problem .plan file. PDF's are insufficient evidence to advise you. DJP
  10. If you have a foundation under the porch make sure those foundation walls are aligned with the porch walls above. DJP
  11. The software is programmed to auto fill in Attic Walls but when, in your case for some reason it did not. So you toggle up to the Attic Level (<A>) and turn on the "Reference toggle" so you can see in RED the walls outlined thereby so you can see where to draw the manual attic gable walls. When you draw the wall, you then open its dialog and mark on the "General Tab" : Attic Wall, No Locate and No Room Define (the default setting for Attic Walls only. DJP

    Square footage

Go to Help, select the "Reference Manual" then find the section on Living Area where it is explained in detail, or go the Home Designer website and type into the "Search" input box Living Area calculations DJP
  13. Room Specification Dialog - Floor Leven input box to vary any room's floor level relative to the other rooms, per floor. DJP
  14. I would use three soffits (cabinet tools) with molding profiles on each of the three to emulate such an appearance. DJP
  15. Download and install in your library this grate made by other users and shared with me: DJP Iron window grate.calibz
  16. What software do you have, please? Generally you draw a room surrounding the front door using "Railing Walls", name the front porch "Covered Porch", then select the wall that is parallel to the house's front wall. Open that wall's dialog box - Roof Tab and select "Gable over this wall", then build roofs. DJP
  17. You probably turned off "Temporary Dimensions" see image DJP
  18. The software measures the accuracy of how you modeled the plan file and NOTHING else. The phone book is your best source (local to where the project is) Most Engineers use AutoCAD so you export your plan and its views to .dfx or .dwg file formats. The best thing for you to do to get squared away is to visit your Permit Authority's website to understand what they require for construction document submission. The only real limiter is not the software but rather it is you and your competence and your intention to get a product, no matter what. DJP
  19. This software uses Image files or textures to display material patterns, so the image must first represent your desired outcome when applied to your 3D surfaces in a plan file. Home Designer Architectural and Professional allow few choices for custom solids that you can easily make (Like your posted sign image) but there are "Custom Slabs" and "Soffits", found under cabinet tools that can be customized a little to represent things. Chief Architect Premier, costing a lot more to exchange for, contains the most numerous choices for customizing objects. Do a "Search" at the Home Designer Website and at YouTube to find the latest video tutorials for what you search for. DJP
  20. You can try calling Customer Service but I think the answer will be "NO", sorry. DJP
  21. X13 can read .plan files that you send that user. Once opened and saved in X13 then ONLY HD Pro 2022 will open plans marked for HD P 2022 (not 2021). This has always been the case: no backward compatibility. Personally, I have solved this for myself by running older versions on my computer ( versions 11-24 or X1 - X14) because I specialize in working with HD users who use older versions and Chief Premier Users who, for whatever reason do not see the need to upgrade. I am sorry this is an issue for you, indeed. DJP
