  1. Try making the lower wall Balloon Through Ceiling Above. You may then delete the upper (attic) wall if the program does not.
  2. Are you using Wall Covering to do this? The program has no drywall texture materials. Look at stucco, carpet etc.

You don't. None of the Home Designer/Chief Architect products offer this.

    floating doors

It's often helpful to see an image, or have the plan file to review. Have you built a foundation?
  5. What's wrong with what you have drawn? I extended the roof to form a porch across the front. Provides a path to the front door from the driveway.
  6. The program is showing the way houses are normally framed. I've not seen construction like you have shown.
  7. It imports into the user part of the library, using the filename as its name.
  8. In newer versions of the software, the columns do show, but there still are no snaps. I would sometimes use a solid like a slab for columns, drawing them in after the railing so they could be positioned as required. Using a closed polyline works just as well.
  9. My guess is that you painted a color/material onto parts of the roof, like the fascia. Once this is done, it seems to override the defaults, and I don't know how to tell the program to use the defaults.
  10. I believe these are the same -- that is 2 ways to access the same roof defaults.
  11. Please make it easy on us and say one part of the roof that is wrong.
  12. This KB article may help you get started. https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00358/automatically-building-a-one-and-a-half-story-roof.html On the 2nd floor, change the room type from Family to Open Below.
  13. The plan you posted has 1 big empty space on floor 1, and bedrooms, bathrooms and family on floor 2. Is this correct?
  14. Remove the ceiling? If there is a floor above (not attic), you need to create an Open Below room on the floor above. If there is no floor, uncheck Ceiling Over This Room. It's always good to check the Knowledge Base -- https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/category/167/dormers.html
  15. https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/category/46/cabinets.html
  16. Yes, you create an opening in the cabinet face. Specify it as Appliance if you want something to auto insert, or just an opening to manually position something. Again, are you asking about the countertop, or cabinet, or both?
  17. Are you asking about the countertop? Imported symbols don't work like the ones built into the program. What about the thing to the left? It looks like a free standing appliance that does not fit in a cabinet.
  18. This is from Chief Architect help, so I'd recommend looking at your help for specifics. To create your own template layout 1. Select File> New Layout . 2. Select Edit> Defaults Settings and open and modify the settings in the default dialogs as needed. See Default Settings. 3. Select Tools> Display Settings> Display Options and create any custom layers, layer sets and layer settings that you typically use. See Layers. 4. Select File> Print> Drawing Sheet Setup and specify the desired print settings. See Drawing Sheet Setup Dialog. 5. Select Tools> Layout> Page Down to go to layout page 0 and use the CAD tools to design a border and title block that suits your needs. See Layout Page Zero. To set a template as your default 1. Select Edit> Preferences and go to the New Plans panel of the Preferences dialog. See New Plans Panel. 2. Click Imperial or Metric Units. 3. Click the Browse button for either the plan or layout template. 4. Select a template file from the Templates directory or navigate to a different location and select a template from there.
  19. You will need to edit your template plan. If you will look, using Windows File Explorer in C:/Windows/Users/Your Name/My Documents/Home Designer Pro 2018 Data/Templates/profile.plan This plan file is the one that opens within HD Pro, each time you command "New Plan" in the "File Menu". Open it, make any changes to your defaults, including page size, dimensions, foundation -- essentially any defaults you want for all plans. Save it and close it. Now when you start a new plan, all these defaults will be set.
  20. Select the layout box, open it (control-e), and suppress the label.
  21. Are you reading the KB articles I linked? Home Designer products have single page layouts. Do you have Drawing Sheet Setup? File>Print>Drawing Sheet Setup You should be able to set the paper size there.

There is a built in help system, so when you have a question, it's a good idea to search it first. A search for explode block would locate the answer, and you would be working instead of waiting. When an object is selected, the Edit Toolbar contains tools that may be used on the selected object. Mousing over them will show the tools name. When an Architectural Block is selected, Explode Architectural Block will show up as one of the options. A right click (at least on a Windows PC), will show multiple options, along with the same Edit Toolbar options.
  23. Could you post one of the symbols? (3ds file) You will probably need to zip it.
