I have checked my 22x34 and 24x36 prints done via PDF (4pages) as mentioned above on my own printer and they are 100% accurate in regard to scale vs my Scale Rules in both metric and Imperial . M.

I have Pro 10 and it is too old for Text Styles , strange that the Product Matrix says you don't have the ability but the KB articles says you do , unless you have Essentials as noted, might be worth the upgrade to Suite then.
-
according to the Product matrix even Pro is limited in this so it might be better to contact Sales at Chief rather than us here at the DIY Forum look here under CAD/Elevations (page 5 if you get the PDF version) http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/products/product-chooser.html there is a setting in Preferences too under Appearance> Font

sounds like you may have the joist direction wrong perhaps ,and as far as I remember Suite only allows 2x12 joists unlike Pro where you can specify what you want/need. Personally however I do not find the Materials List helpful as the model must be built EXACTLY as you intend to build it and it has a number of errors which if you search here you will find other threads about the Materials list problems. may not be as easy as Pro but it seems you can remove gutters http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00308/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Removing-the-Gutter-from-a-Roof.html and overhangs http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00077/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Specifying-Different-Roof-Overhangs-on-Different-Walls.html M.

I haven't seen that before ,did you try rebuilding 3D (F12) or closing and reopening the plan ? I don't have 2015 either though so you might want to submit it to TS if you haven't figured it out yet. M.

Don't eliminate the interior walls , just make them ( or one) invisible , looking at the tutorial on Clerestory Roofs may help with this as that technique is used there if I remember correctly. http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00492/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Building-a-Clerestory-Roof.html not sure if it is possible in Essentials but can you turn the Gutter off ? and reduce the eave overhang on the two interior walls to 1-2" depending on fascia thickness ( you can this in Pro ) M.

Soffits work well , once you get the 1st one configured for 3/8" glass at desired height save it to the Library so you can reuse it again and again as needed. I didn't bother with tile in the pic below but it is easy to place a wall break and make the interior wall tile so the tile stops just outside the glass eg about 2-3" past the shower tray.

Have you download the Core Content yet ? look under the Library Menu Item , you must do this once the program is installed , after that you can also download the Bonus Libraries and Manufacturer's Libraries too if desired. bonus and Man. libraries http://3dlibrary.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?r=site/library&search=&x=0&y=0&x=true&soft_family_2=2&hid_soft_family_2=2&utm_source=&utm_medium=&utm_campaign=

yes the age would account for the 2x8 joists , I run into this at work a lot as many of the homes are 60-100yrs old here, these days a very rough rule of thumb is not to span more than 1 foot per inch of joist depth , ie a 2x8 would be good for 8 ft max assuming the load wasn't significant , but the Engineer will look at al that as part of the permit process. In some cases you ae right there are sometime 2-3 ways to get the same result , but there are times you need a certain DBX , eg the Framing defaults set for 7 1/4" would give you that size for ALL joist throughout the house on all levels , but you could also set the 2nd floor to have 2x10 joists if need via the Floor defaults>structure setting. Pro can import a number of different types of Topo Data but to be sure I would install the Trial Version and see if it can import the File obtained from you local Council , you'll be able to play with it but the Trial can't save ,print or export anything ( so don't close the program or turn off computer till finished "playing" ,then activate/buy the Program if you decide it'll work and you want to save it.) this video may help ? http://video.homedesigner.chiefarchitect.com/player/player.php?id=310&th=1&autoplay=

your pics seem to indicate you were in the FRAMING Defaults , not the FLOOR Defaults ( though you mention Floor defaults above) ,not sure if that was why it was initially greyed out or not though? FYI a 7" Floor joist would be a non-standard size , 2x8 is 7 1/2" and they are no longer used for floor joists unless the span is very short or perhaps for matching up to and existing floor structure . 2x10 or 2x12 is the usual size today. M.
-
make sure you uncheck the default box in the Floor Defaults DBX then check the structure type as Eric shows above ,as even though it may say Fir Framing at the top, the structure type can still show I-Joist and will still be I-joist after you try to change it if you don't uncheck the default box. nothing as fancy as the pic posted but you might be able to use one from 3D Warehouse and modify it https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=door+saloon&backendClass=entity

Since Posting this I have also discovered the Snipping Tool , which is Part of Windows 7 and is in the Accessories Folder on the Start Menu , it does not have the ability to add text if needed like Paint but you can add highlighter marks or coloured arrows etc with the included Tools in Snipit , I now have Snipit pinned to my Taskbar ,it's very handy. It cannot take "Snips" of Menus etc though as they disappear when you click on Snipping Tool to activate it, so use Print Screen key for those , eg below

Hi Bob , is it a gable roof you want over the window or and eyebrow (curved roof) like Eric shows in his pic, I'm not quite clear on what you want ?. But to get a standard gable over any window, there is a tool on each window's right click menu or icon on the edit toolbar once the window is selected that does that automatically no roof tools or invisible walls needed , you can adjust the gable size etc after it is placed manually if desired too. unfortunately at least in Pro10 the tool only does gables..... check this thread from a while back too https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/261-representing-people/?hl=%2Bpeople+%2Blibrary

Not that I am aware of , some program updates are available but not the Bonus or Manufacturers Libraries which have not been online for 3-4yrs at least , they only support those back 3 versions usually ,eg the version 10 files disappeared in May when 2015 came out. you would need another user with version 7 to export the libraries (if that is even possible) or still have the library files they downloaded and be willing to share them with you. you could ask tech support if the new version runs on XP but the System Req. page does not mention it specifically , and then reinstall on the Mac when you get it ,but I cant think of another way. http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/update-archives.html

looks like you posted as I was checking my files yes it does take some time for the library to refresh sometimes ,sometimes you need to close it and reopen it to get things to show. Now would be a good time to export the libraries you particularly like as a backup though as once the 2016/17 version comes out they wont be on the website any longer, same as Version 10 files disappeared in May when 2015 was released. M.

You would need the calibz file which includes the textures , not sure if the Library in Version 10 is the same as 2012 but I could export it and you could try it perhaps if needed. ............Nope sorry the Dal-Tile calibz I have is 2010 and is 75 mb so too big to upload here anyway. Did you look in the Textures folder to see if there is two Dal tile folders? I am assuming though that Dal has removed the Tile they no longer make/sell so there would be no point spec'ing some of it anyway. Someone with 2012 that hasn't updated or still has the calibz could help you though if they have dropbox for the 75mb file though. M.

can you post your plan ie attach it to a post via the more reply Options button.... M.
-
I don't have interiors but there are baseboards in the Core Library under architectural>Molding>Base Molding however depending on which template plan you choose to start your Plan/design with there is usually a base (skirting) and Casing (architrave) and in some a Crown (Scotia) automatically assigned to each room by default. ( and a wainscot/picture rail in some too) M.

Should be do able using TWO shed Roofs back to back , so the two following KB Articles should help you in the right direction ,except you will need too reverse the pitch as the low point is in the middle of the Roof where the ridge normally is. http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-01020/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Creating-Multiple-Shed-Roofs.html http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00492/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Building-a-Clerestory-Roof.html give it a try and post back with Pictures or post the plan so someone can give you more help.
