not in Suite , but if you build 3 invisible walls (U shaped) say 2 feet off the doors , you will get a room definition and a roof can be generated over the "invisible" Room no room def. = no roof you should be able to uncheck ceilings as normal too and add a few brackets from the library to hold it up.
-
something you wont find in the Tuts. is that your family room and Living room/entry rooms are not the default height (3/8 out) which screws up the gable roof ,even once you have the gable walls set correctly.

All you need to do is meld these two tutorials together try each one then practice on a copy ( do a "save as") of your main Plan , if you get stuck ask more questions here http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00359/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Automatically-Building-the-Basic-Roof-Styles.html#Gable http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00120/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Creating-a-Parapet-Roof.html Mick

I would do a search of this forum and the legacy forum for information and delve deeply into the Reference Manual , there is a lot to pickup and unfortunately the ML isn't always very accurate , so hard to trust for bids etc. , your Model also needs to be very accurate and as you would build it. one post here: https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/114-materials-list/ and the Schedule workaround if you want them too https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/83-how-do-i-create-a-door-schedule/?hl=%2Bmaterials+%2Blist#entry377

check 3D Warehouse perhaps , might find something you can use or modify..... M.

just attach the plan file from wherever you save it, the same as you attach pics , no need to zip it or anything now as long as it isn't over 50mb which is the new limit. Eric (Solver ) is great at Stairs and I am sure he'll take a look if you can post it. I thought the LH rail was at the front of the landing not the back side sorry you don't have "follow stair" checked in the DBX of those two fallen rails do you ? that can cause the fall if NOT a staircase. Mick. PS last chance to get that upgrade to Chief sale ends midnight Jan 12th

Hi Jimmy I think you must be an X6 User ? ( you haven't filled in you Profile signature) as the Build Trim>Polyline Option is not available in Home Designer titles and you are not on the Chief Forums but the Home Designer titles Forum ( HD forum theme colour is blue) but you can use the same User ID and Password over at Chieftalk (green themed forums) here : https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/ though anytime you want to help out here on the HD forums is good , all help happily accepted. the KB search function is your friend ...... use it often..... do able in Pro only but a tad tedious : http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-01187/ the KB http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/database.html

try building a four wall exterior "box" even if you don't need it then put in the interior walls as needed eg a bathroom remodel, and the ceiling issue wont happen I don't think.
-
did you deactivate HD on you desktop computer? you cant run both at the same time http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-01028/63/Home-Designer/Installation/Installing-Home-Designer-on-Multiple-Computers.html more articles http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/search/?q=installation&default_tab=support

you could post the plan so we could help figure it out ...if possible are the landing hand rail auto generate you manually drawn? Auto ? the one on the left you don't need , so select that edge of the landing and turn off the railing on that edge in the DBX try moving the other one onto the landing by 12-20mm and see if it "jumps up" I have had this with manual railings and you get them too close to the edge. no idea on the concrete ceiling unless your floor structure is set to concrete for some reason
-
More info is always good, so don't be shy there is info on page 175 of the manual about that too the DBX works on a -/+180 scheme as do most in HD software including sun and wall angles
-
maybe it is having a bad hair day did you close the plan and close Pro and restart Pro ?, perhaps restart the computer too before restarting Pro. if no luck post the Plan file so one of can look for you. M.
-
Ahhh ok , yep I missed that but I guess you missed the highlighted Note on page 175 of the manual when you read it too..... it is displaying the expected behaviour I think for objects, as they are placed with coordinates, I usually use the mouse ( and CTRL key) to move objects so had not noticed this behaviour with the arrow keys guess that's 2 hours neither of us will get back
-
Yep ,Tools>Rotate> put 90.0° in the DBX and tried the up arrow no change in direction the house moved which is actually down with the up key as you are actually moving the scrollbar with the arrow keys NOT the model is that your issue ? you are thinking the house should move relative to the arrow keys when it is actually the scrollbar you are moving? you can change the scroll distance in the preferences if needed too , default is 12" see page 692 of the manual PS in 3D views it depends on how you have it setup in the 3d menu for arrows keys
-
post the plan and I will try it here , as my simple plan works as it should ie UP key is UP even after rotating. also in post #3 you have posted your serial no # , sig is now fine
-
the jumble up text is due to the bounding box being too small in its new orientation , if you change it in the Default settings it should work ok I think , that fixed itself for me when I tried after setting the Room Label Style too. did you try rotating the plan 180 instead of reversing it (what I think you did) to cure the "mirroring issue" M.
-
it is generally a good idea to leave angle snaps on except for specific purposes/uses , then toggle it back on , the newer versions remind you to do this but Ver. 8 wont. perhaps post the plan file and I or one of the other can try it and see if they can open it and try splines.
-
No problem I appreciate the follow-up and Thanks ..
-
usually you don't get a Deck (or Room) definition if the walls are not connected properly , I would zoom in really close at each end and double check that 1st. have you played with the settings in the Defaults>Rooms>Decks ?
-
mirrors? some pics would really help , I am guessing at you descriptions did you also as I said above ..........."you may need to uncheck it for Room Label box style too" the text will jumble up if it's containing "box" (Border) is too small , just make it bigger , turn on borders if needed so you can see them temporarily. M.
