    Material Direction

if you saved it to your Library it would be in the folder called User Catalog ....
  2. That's correct Eric ...A circle Room must be made up of 2 arcs ,as one arc only does 359° +/- though I read on Chieftalk you can get it sometimes by dragging the start over the end 4 times but I have not tried it or know why it works....something Yusef_33 came up with. edit rereading you post Eric I am not sure if you were asking a question or stating a fact but hope the above helps someone....

    Insane terrain

post the plan perhaps so someone can look M.

    Edit library windows

you don't have the same options in the window dbx as shown in post #2? then those options must be Pro only which is what Eric and are using..... M.
  5. if the 3 walls don't make a room , you can not set the ceiling height which controls the wall heights ( and lets you have a roof too) Rooms are very important in this software , so even if you are only doing a Bathroom remodel for eg. , build 4 outer exterior walls and build your bathroom inside them. Insane terrain

cant really tell from your pics whats happening but are you playing with the Build Pad setting? where your cursor is shown? that is the house pad height not the terrain/garden bed height. M.
  7. yes you can use the Space Planner to do just that for a quick plan , then go Build House to see in 3D ... Susan , your other post says you have HDA , this one say X6 ...maybe both but if you have X6 questions try the Chieftalk forums instead ,you will get better answers related to x6 features https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/forum/7-general-q-a/
  8. Can you not turn off the display of Images in HDA in Tools>Display Options>Images ? (uncheck the Disp(lay) option for images) I have used Jo_Ann's trick in the past for my own notes (text) etc so should work with an image too.... Mick.
  9. have not checked the new plan ,but with Suite everything has to be perfect as you only have auto build Roofs and cant correct weird issues manually as we can in Pro , so it may take some dedicated hunting to find issues. Next time I would build the structure and get it right before "decorating" etc. If you can't get a Room definition , ie can select it individually you wont get a Roof above it ,which is why wall connection are important and if you see that symbol next to your mouse cursor you really need to deal with it. Yes the basement has some issues ...maybe start there and work up..... some of the measurements seem a bit strange eg 62'1" I saw but I don't know if that is you or you Former Contractor ? ( I hate to hear that as a GC,,,not good) M.
  10. the Knowledgebase is always a good place to start for questions like this.....have a look at this Tutorial. http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00863/49/Home-Designer/Materials/Rotating-the-Direction-of-a-Material.html M.
  11. Kristine I now know from your other post you are using version 10 , so I can now say with that information ( why I asked you to fill in your sig , as David and I do) you can use old chief symbols to up version X3 (or earlier) which you may find on the old chief legacy symbols forum if you can access it with your current user name ???? http://www.chieftalk.com/ DMD has some older symbols too both free and by paid membership http://davidmichaeldesigns.com/free.html you might like this site too which DMD is now hosting http://3d-diva.davidmichaeldesigns.com/ M.
  12. Sorry not much help as I don't know sketchup ...maybe you can spin the component in 3D space (in sketchup and resave) that is wrong if it's "directional face" is indeed facing the wrong way , probably better to ask on the Sketch Forums. if I find a bad symbol I usually just go back and find another similar one that is good as only Chief has the ability to modify symbols. M.
  13. Home designer titles don't have the ability to "fix" symbols so if it is bad , you will need to fix in sketchup and save to the correct version of sketchup for your version of HD. ( you don't provide your name ,version or title in your signature ,OS etc so I cant be specific. ( see my sig) 3D Warehouse does have some good models but many are made by students for there "portfolios" so YMMV.... M..
  14. Only Pro and Chief have ceiling planes I think ? what i'm seeing.......big and small Level 0 Back corner LH side is broken wall Level 0 Front corner RH side is broken wall Level 0 RH side wall is not aligned to level 1 wall--align Level 0 none of the slab room foundation walls are aligned with above (3) walls align LH wall manually , the "tool" wouldn't do it for some reason Level 0 back rh side back wall is dawn incorrectly ? it has 1 1/2 step in it level 1 Hand rail is broken at RH corn turn some of you dimensions on level 0 are measured to centre of the wall which is unusual ...is it correct? ie 10" and 12'4" fireplace mantel floating in space 12" off wall ,explode block and move as needed hallway to left of fireplace floor is 2-3' lower than living room floor , not sure if that's for the MIL or a BooBoo that should keep you busy , post the new plan back when that lot is fixed up..... M.

    Newbie Issues

Did you install it on more than one computer , eg a laptop and a desktop , or under a dualboot scenario? deactivate on the other computer 1st... M.
  16. the symbol next to your cursor tells you there are broken walls fix them 1st and see if the roof looks better.... look for a circle over the breaks on the main floor and basement. dinner time... edit the walls of your porch ....left hand side /corner are not aligned and the corner is broken due to that..... M.
  17. please add you details to your signature as we have above , this is important info. for all posts Add you name too ...or I can just call you Jack

    Square Footage

the default measurements you see do not include the width of any of the walls , so a fair bit of missing sq.ft perhaps depending on the plan, so see Eric KB article for changing that and the issue of 1st floor vs 2nd floor is, either there is a room that by default isn't included in the living area calc. or you have accidently unchecked or checked the living area calc. button on the general tab of the Room DBX ( use room default is the default). M.
  19. just attach the .plan file same as you did the screenshots , there is no other way to see what you have done and what settings you are using that maybe causing issues...... if it is over 25mb you will need to zip it of do a "save as" and delete stuff out of the forum plan until it is under 25mb in size which is the forum's maximum for a single file. as a general rule I don't use floor camera unless there is a specific reason , ie to locate an issue , other I use Full. M.
  20. post the plan ..... much easier to figure out what you have "jacked up"

    Edit library windows

you can do in via the DBX as I posted in #2 , it should not change back unless you did not hit ok to apply the settings
  22. Since David himself runs multiple versions of HD and Chief side by side on his computer, I see no reason the 2015 upgrade would not work , just download the mac version of the free Trial and do some testing , if it works ,as it should, activate it to the full version ( you don t need to uninstall and reinstall for this). The Trial http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/products/trial.html Monday you can calls sales to as suggested if you have in depth questions here Phone Sales / Customer Service: 208-292-3400 / 800-482-4433 Call Sales on Skype: chief.architect.sales Technical Support: 208-292-3375
  23. try the Reset Side Windows button in Edit>Preferences>Reset Options M.
  24. Sorry Jay I opened the wrong version of my current plan which wasn't HD enabled , so I couldn't do much......
  25. No it wasn't the goal , it is just how his house is , the roof of the 1st floor overhangs onto the parapet roof at about 1-2' off the deck ( so thru 3' high parapet wall) whereas yours is 8' up and clears the Parapet wall. not incorrect , it works as you can see , if you look at the material def. though it will say beige stucco painted as 6" lap siding ...or something like that and in some situations .like if you want two materials on a wall defining them properly works , I think pony walls are one example try the painter and the whole wall changes , not just the stone part etc.
