Rob is correct , if there is a (D) or a check mark in the default box it MUST be deleted or unchecked to alter the measurement otherwise it just reverts to the default setting. M.

its true the Face looks okay in sketchup but the sides ,especially where the distressed paint is doesn't look good in SU either. HD's cabinet tools are pretty powerful , once you learn your way around the tabs and the settings , and the Manual and KB Articles will help with that. I think you just got unlucky that that company is taking the easy way out .....perhaps you should contact them ? M.

Hi , well it is kind of hard to answer since you haven't posted your plan for us to look at or any useful pics for us to see what you have attempted/what is wrong ,just one very small (poor) example pic of want you want to do... A deck WILL allow a roof so I am at a lose to explain why you cant get it once you check the box in the Deck Room's DBX on the Structure tab as I pointed out above. here is a quick 10 min plan with what "I think" you are after but it's a guess , has a look at the settings etc and see if it helps... The Porch/deck Roof is essentially a Shed Roof ,so use those settings from the basic roof tutorial in the KB. http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00359/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Automatically-Building-the-Basic-Roof-Styles.html Mick Weebles Deck.plan

it sounds like you have not loaded the library Library>Install Core Content then add the tile and anything else you want from the bonus libraries and Manufacturers libraries etc too http://3dlibrary.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?r=site/library&search=&x=0&y=0&x=true&soft_family_2=2&hid_soft_family_2=2&utm_source=&utm_medium=&utm_campaign= you can take any picture yours or from internet and import it as a material to apply to tiles , have a look in the knowledgebase for articles on how... *** the Trial wont save any of your plans , etc so DO NOT close the program ( or turn off computer) or you will lose all your work...

did you look into text styles in Plan Defaults, ? not sure if possible or not there but in Plan Default>Windows>Label you have global Plan options too, but no idea on auto size labelling I don't have access to Pro to look into it for you today....
-
Me either but I think it works cos everything you import to HD is assigned to the Default CAD Layer (CMiIW)

Turn off Auto label and specify your own on the windows label tab should work , you can make it anything you want, though the feet inches method is the industry standard. you might be able to do it using text styles options somewhere but I haven't dug that deep.... M

I asked Chief to do that when the Forum first opened last year in the sticky thread about getting good answers but unfortunately they did not implement that, it should be there right under your Location I think, as it wastes a lot of time regularly , usually Eric or David ask them to do the Signature before me but none of us want to be the "Forum Police" , I just don't answer if the is too much guessing involved and move to the next problem.

if remember correctly Len has Suite not Pro Robyn so no manual roofs ..............Len please update your Signature in your Profile , so people don't waste time On answers you can't use thx..... Try adding the 2nd storey as a "Blank" floor instead of derived from the 1st floor , you then have to draw your own walls , 3rd floor on House may need to be set to 0" high. It is better to build all buildings at each level as you go, if possible, especially in Titles lower than Pro as you don't have the manual tools to fix problems.

Hi Jo doesn't HDA have the ability to treat stair case sections independently? maybe it helps me choose them separately ? but a railing running in the same direction tends to link together with the next one as HD "sees" railings as "walls" which was why I tried the break wall tool ,which works kinda ok in V10 but is still a bear in V15. Hmmm that's not good Keith but they are busy trying to push out X7 , public beta (with SSA ) comes out today , with the full version next month apparently. I had hopes they would have some tips, did you try the two different types of rails trick ? ie sloping rail must be different from anything horizontal.... Mick

Well at least in V10 you can see a texture ..in V15 it strips the textures for some reason on importing ....can't explain that ,perhaps tech.support would help a user if they had '15 sort it out. However in V10 after converting the V8 .skp to V7 in Sketchup , I imported each of the 5 you listed and they import fine without the errors above like in '15 but on 1st looking at them in 3D they appeared "cartoonish" to me ( or flatish) too ,which lead me to find this company is "cheating" in that, the front of each cabinet is actually a texture ,(pic), unlike HD Cabinets which have real 3D editable faces and handles etc. if you look closely you can see the texture is the wrong size as HD has imported it at its default 20x20 setting, so with the material definition tool you maybe able to resize the texture and have it look right again ,you may also need to adjust the origin of the texture to get it to line up with the cabinet again by moving it up/down/left/right etc. If you change the front's texture to another material you will lose the handles as they are a pic not a real 3D handle. To be honest I think if you read up on the cabinet tools in HD you can pretty much make anything of these items .....easier in Pro ? since there maybe more Tools available?. This happens in '15 Cartoonish look Front texture is too small PS David is Correct , many answers here depend on the specific title and version you are using ,as there are 5 titles in every yearly release all with different features and abilities , we know you have a 10 series title as I do but what title? Put your Title and year/version in your Profile sig ..once.... and nobody needs to ask again....

Unfortunately Robyn, Susan is using HDA not Pro so She does not have the ability to do manual Roof planes as far as I know ( don't think that changed in 2015 version) , however the roof will build no issues usually just by checking the options in the pic of the Room DBX above. Set the Roof's parameters ,like highshed, pitch etc before doing this for each of the 3 walls as needed. M.

Search the library using your File Name+90° , if it isn't found then either it didn't save or wasn't saved properly ,which means you'll need to try saving again to the library from the plan you created it in. If that doesn't work ,post the .plan file so one of us can have a look and advise further.. M.

Oops ...I hope so that's a pretty old title but I don't know when they started allowing .skp as an import ..... I have Pro 10 and it is under File>Import>3D Symbol do you have that option ? and if so what are the choices? you may need to export from Sketchup as a 3D model eg .3ds or .obj rather than as ,skp M.

the wrong software would explain the activation not working , to me anyway, as the code would be for Suite not Interiors... M

thx Jo. kinda surprised they would limit that... M.

excellent advice..... read ...read...read.... a deck room by default has no roof or ceiling but they can be turned on ...at least they can in Pro in the deck room's dbx.

would the chimney not resize width wise when you grab the edit handle on the sides as in pic 4 above? it may depend on the shape of the chimney you need too though , might have time to play tonight if needed. M.

okay thought it might be better than nothing , so i'd suggest sketchup and make your own and import it....
-
Nope , try harder ....... just joking, you must be tired Eric.... What's the most likely cause if you "can't see something" ??? especially if you "think" it should work..... That's right ......turn on framing in the 3D view in display options too..... Every view type has it's OWN display settings DBX I can see it is already on in the plan view in that pic of the DBX but you must enable it for the 3D view too and then rebuild the 3D with F12.... worked for me....in Pro...with the drywall removed in the wall definition.
-
post the plan perhaps , too much guessing..... perhaps messed up wall layers/wall definition , or material definition? M.
-
did you try 3D Warehouse for a pyramid in the correct orientation or make one in Sketchup yourself perhaps? M. Edit: actually you can use the wedge and an inverted wedge to make it ------make each one 4 1/2 x16" x 100" long and place them on top of each other at the correct height....

HDS Product comparison-matrix.pdf I am not sure HDA has any framing options (see above pdf), it is all autobuild I think except perhaps deck posts and beams and I think it has a locked Floor Thickness like Suite but call CS on Monday to check it is 6years? since I used HDA you have your 30 day return time if it doesn't do what you want so don't panic..... download the Pro free Trial and test it out ...only you can decide if it is worth it.
