  1. Hi , I found the same 96/12 limitation in the Wall DBX until I 1st set the default Roof Pitch in the "Build Roof DBX" to 125 in 12, it then becomes the standard pitch and you only need to alter the Upper pitch setting. Same issue as you with the windows and doors and I had to set the eave overhang to 3-4 inches to get it closer to right , I also used the other settings in the Build Roof DBX ,under "ignore 2nd floor" ,not sure what you have in Suite This appears to be a tough roof for the Software and Jo_Ann maybe correct that in Suite the Dormers will be an issue to Autobuild ,Auto Dormers can't be built in two Roof planes per your image , and in Suite you have no manual roof tools, however , it will let you still place windows in the 2nd floor walls so it will look "kinda right" though shows obvious issues. I'm thinking you may have issues with Roof lines adding the RH extension on to the House too and the dishwasher Area ,as the gambrel settings seem to be playing with the Roof height at this point anyway Perhaps Jo_Ann will post a solution , She is great with workarounds but I'll add my play plan , hopefully you can open it to view at least if not edit it. 2. Thanks for reporting back.....that's great for future Users. I know they change the icons to HiRes versions in 2016 but I don't know if the issue is related. Perhaps you should report it to Dell too , since it's there software causing the issue...
  3. Patience is a ....... You didn't follow my advice in post no#3 , your overhang is still 32" and should be 8"-12"? looking at photo but I used 4" ,it works best by the looks in the software your default roof pitch is probably closer to 125/12 ( 85°) or nearly vertical not 32 /12 as currently built default overhang is set at 1/4" , it should be minimum 1 1/2 ? ( I used 2 1/4) otherwise you will lose the siding as seen as the fascia would be in the wall as it is 1 1/2" thick (usually) but maybe 3/4 thick with Siding tucked behind it.? You are building the Roof on the 2nd floor , when it is actually being built off the 1st floor framing , your second floor is in the roof actually , so use the "ignore second floor" check box, and set your Gambrel up off the 1st floor walls not the 2nd. I used a cross section elevation to determine your second floor ceiling is at 207" , so I used that height in lieu of the real height for the 2nd pitch start at height. , see the pic below for the results. The dishwasher area needs it Wall Roof setting changed to 4/12 or whatever it is ? if a shed roof? , it is defaulted to 32/12 so messing up the main roof. hopefully you can do all this in Suite?
  4. did you toggle them off with the toggle textures button under 3D>Camera View Options I think? or accidently click the icon for it?
  5. printing to PDF at 1/2 Scale and then printing the PDF at 200% works for full size Arch.sheets ie 12x18 at 1/8th scale is 1/4: at 200% on 24x36 as far as the layout pages , once your Drawing is done and you are ready for ConDocs. the easiest thing is to make a "save as" of the plan with an additional name eg 1st floor ,foundation etc and then send that to layout, so essentially you have a plan file for each level.elevation etc as needed ,un fortunately the downside is you make a change after that you may have issues . They really don't want you using Pro for doing ConDocs but there are people doing it , one sheet at a time. you'll find other threads here and on the legacy forum about this ...
  6. Thanks, I'm thinking cos you cant get "lites " in shaped windows that you maybe able to do it ,admittedly , with a bit of work using 3 shaped windows per side ( 1 per Lite) with the frame and sash measurements set really small as needed , but as you say a few CAD lines in Layout will give you what you need too. M..
  7. 3rd pic shows your overhang at 32" not whatever it should be eg 8", to get it close to the wall ,and I'd say the 1st pitch has to be even steeper than the 32 you are using now. posting the plan , will get you the best answers , as there are too many settings in dialog boxes which leads to guessing, especially since you have filed in your Forum Profile signature with your Version or the Title you are using... see mine below M.
  8. Jo_Ann used a png file applied as a material to a soffit in this thread to do house numbers https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/354-house-numbers-and-fascia-color/#entry1885 what version are you using? may make a difference
  9. or make the casing on the windows bigger so they join , the windows are held apart by the required framing ie 2 studs per side....
  10. emailing or calling sales would be best , usually newer versions can open older plans ,but it sounds like you are also wanting to downgrade ? so I'm not sure if a plan made in Pro 10 can be opened in say Suite 2016 , Pro to Pro wouldn't be an issue. you may be able to open but not edit anything , so best to call as Kat said and get it from the Horse's mouth.
  11. they were probably removed to reduce the program's download size , if you already have them in 2015 , just use them from that folder.... M.
  12. try a curved stair railing altered to your specs for height/panel type etc...
  13. No problem , don't bother on my account , just haven't played enough myself beyond triangular windows to get the bottom off horizontal too like you show. I am seeing a few more reports of crashes on the MAC but haven't seen any causes yet.

    Foundation Piers

I think it'd be a Ceiling beam if you are drawing it in the basement , and I think you can use the Post Tool (Framing Tools) to place the Footing and post and change materials as needed. if you need a round steel post I think you can delete the wooden post after and then use a cylinder shape from the library instead if you post defaults (framing) don't allow for round ones?. M.
  15. I was just curious as I have seen this reported several times on Chieftalk with X6 , and they were using the old material not the new but have not played with this myself , the old standard door ,was probably built in Chief way back when , but I am not sure why applying the new mirror to it doesn't work as expected.

    Rotating rooms

I had forgotten about the arrow key/scrolling issue with using Rotate Plan , so yes I'd use Eric's suggestion of Edit Area and rotating the whole plan.
  17. the "grey glass/mirror" is the old Mirror glass AFAIK ( non reflective), did you try just changing the material for the mirror/glass in the "standard glass door" to the new mirror material?
  18. it's a good one for the Suggestions forum ....
  19. Angle Snaps will actually let you automatically draw the wall at 45° as you initially draw it , and is actually pretty easy to draw the wall ,open the wall's DBX and set the correct length as you go , it is the adjusting dimensions after that proves the issue usually as all other walls move to accommodate any changes. Your Preference setting for grid snaps (defaults>Plan>snap grid) may alter what happens here , I usually have it set to 1". But part of the problem you are seeing is that HD/Chief I think measures Walls along their centreline whereas you are measuring along the wall surface on one side of the wall , see my pic below which should highlight it for you , although the wall is 22"5/8 long in the DBX the dim's on either side of the wall show it differently. If the wall was 22 5/8" on the short side/inside ,the wall at centreline is actually 25 15/16 long (second pic) Angle and grid snaps can be turn toggled on/off with the icons on the Toolbar ( you may need to add them?) or with the shortcut keys of F10 and SHF+F11 respectively. excuse the writing , I don't print well with a mouse and Snipit doesn't do text.
  20. try Edit>Preferences>Reset Options>Reset SideBar Windows though simply closing the software and perhaps a reboot may work sometimes too.
  21. Kyle is right with his advice on soffits and adding your title to your sig. ,as different versions have different features and you may have more options than soffits if you need them? you could try turning snaps/angle snaps off perhaps while doing the 45° walls but I haven't tried it ,should have more time later if needed. M.

    Rotating rooms

you don't say what version you have ? but some versions have a "rotate Plan" option on the Tools menu
  23. HD's old mirror material is NOT reflective and is still in the library and is probably still on older library items as the default. And the reflection in the Room's door cannot show the closet doors or vica versa
  24. use two landings not one, set them the riser height distance apart ... you can probably just copy>paste in place> select and resize top landing you just copied to 1/2 and set its height one step(riser) above the original. if that doesn't work post the plan ,so I can have a "play" M.
  25. this was new in 2015 , but AFAIK , you have to use a specific mirror material AND have the Preferences setup correctly but also mirrors cannot reflect mirrors which maybe your problem with the two doors being too close together. check this out http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00858/49/Home-Designer/Materials/Showing-Mirror-Reflections.html
