  1. I've requested, at least I think I have requested, the ability to set a benchmark in a plan, and an offset, so that you could have multiple structures on a plan easily all with the same or a different offset, so you could use floor 1 as the 0 height in each structure. Surveyors will often set a benchmark on a building site that all elevations are relative to. I don't think I'd want an additional 20' added to all the dimensions, and the only way you might do it is to manually change floor 1 settings (not defaults) to reflect the additional 20'. You might be able to go to each floor above and use Reset To Defaults to raise them. I'd do a test plan and see.

    Change units?

Look down 8 or 10 threads.
  3. Cause and fix: Some programmer at Chief.
  4. None here. I did go through a period where my internet was on and off, and the program would freeze for less than a minute while I suspect it was trying to phone home to verify the license. You might contact Tech Support for the best help.
  5. Good There is a search on the Knowledge Base page that searches several sources. That's a good place to start. --------- Resources for self help: The built in Help System (always a good place to start) Knowledge Base YouTube
  6. Check under Dimension Defaults.
  7. You cannot remove parts of the trim, or even the trim on a single wall. You can make the casing (tile surround) 13/16" thick instead of 1/16" so it simply covers the base trim.
  8. You cannot create layers in any of the Home Designer products. Imported items, like things made in SketchUp, are always on the Interior Fixtures layer. The software is very modal -- you must close a dialog to continue. Very frustrating. So no leaving things open.
  9. Copy the good wall, Reflect About the center of the room (garage) to make a copy on the other side.
  10. Don't know what the problem was with the garage walls. I copied the one with framing to the other side, and drew in a new front wall. Built framing and all looks OK.
  11. Have you tried a Control-Drag to place it? Select it and move it while holding the Control key. Could you post the plan? The short answer is you cannot remove the molding on just one wall, but depending on exactly what you are doing, there may be alternatives. Need to know which surround etc.
  12. Posting the plan is the best way to get an answer to questions like this.
  13. One of the keys to using the software, especially the titles that don't have all the options is learning to use the available tools to create what you need. I see walls with a pass-thru to make the opening. You may need to place some soffits inside the fireplace area to clean things up.
  14. I suggested the metric conversion last year. The best way to learn the software is to use it. Just take the imperial plan and draw it. You will learn and get more proficient with each plan you do. It takes minutes to do a plan with these products, so just go for it.
  15. I redrew the misbehaving roof plane, along with the small one, and the problem still showed up. I would send in to tech support to see what they say. My guess it's something not related to the roof -- walls or some other part of the structure that's causing the problem.
  16. You should be able to, although I might copy the house to the terrain as terrains seem finicky about being moved. Turn off the display of the terrain on the plan with the house you want to keep, and delete the house from the other plan, then use Edit>Edit Area>Edit area (All Floors) to copy the house from one plan, and Paste>Paste Hold Position into the other. I'd also make copies of everything first.
  17. That's what I wanted to see. Please start a ticket with Tech Support. I have a similar problem I will be filing too.
  18. See image. Revised plan attached. 1241 BARKSDALE ROAD (Eric 2).zip
  19. Alan - If you care to, post the plan so we can see first hand.
  20. It's a bit tedious, but it can be done. You can vary the shape by grabbing and moving any of the edit handles.

  22. Draw a slab, use the Change Line to Arc tool. After you have shaped the first on, use Copy/Paste in Place then edit the height while it's still selected.
