If you will attach your plan, I or someone else will take a look. You can see from the image I posted above that the only thing that changed is the floor overhang. The top rail is the same, and all I did was add the layer shown. No other changes to the wall.
-
Just a guess. You started the plan from a template that includes a lintel over the doors. With Suite you cannot remove it.
-
Nothing newer than your Interiors version date, so anything 2019 or earlier should work. If you find a problem, try the next older file.

Google 3D Warehouse. It's a free repository of symbols. Also check the bonus catalogs available on the Home Designer site.

They display fine in Chief, but I could not get them to show in Pro. I'd contact support and ask.

Take a look at the image you posted above.

Suite is essentially a toy compared to the others. But you can start with Suite and upgrade as/if you see a need. You only pay the difference in price. There is a comparison chart on the website.

Start with your local planning/code enforcement office. They can tell you what you will need to submit and what if any engineering needs to be done. Check with your HOA if there is one. You can probably do everything you need with Home Designer. I'd start with Architectural and upgrade to Pro if needed. Chief is nice, but lots of $ for a one time project, although you can buy a pre owned copy, and then resell when you are done. You can rent Pro and Chief month to month too. There are free trials of both, but you cannot save your work. You can vet your design on Houzz https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/remodel/ Which is probably a good idea.

I've not opened the .docx file, but if it's an image, please post them directly. No need to encapsulate an image in another file. Have you rebuilt the roof?
-
I'm guessing the program now thinks that wall is inside the house so it has changed some things. You should be able to change them back or do the railing differently, like making that small room a deck or porch.

This is all auto built. Think about how you control auto roofs -- they build over walls, and the wall height is controlled by the ceiling height. Here you can see the room I created on the 2nd floor, which has a 1-1/2" ceiling, and how its ceiling height is raised. I changed the pitch on the outside wall shown selected above. Since you already have most of what you need, you can manually change the roof to give the look you want, and simply move the outside wall over the one below. You won't need the roof hole if you do this. You can break the roof plane at 2 points along the lower edge, then drag the center part up forming a C shape surrounding the dormer, or grab the edge of the roof and pull it across forming on side, then copy it and reflect about the center to place the roof on the opposite side.
-
Delete the floor structure in the room formed by the exterior railing. Experiment with making the railing No Room Definition.
-
You need to rebuild the roof. Set the ceiling height back down in the main space, set the ceiling height up in the bump out. Build the roof, then set the ceilings back to their actual height. Remember roofs build over walls and wall height is controlled by the ceiling height.

What Jo Ann said.

What's the problem? Draw in walls on 2nd floor, set one to full gable. Posting images of what you see (screen capture) will help others help you.
-
You will need to call tech support. This is a user to user forum and you need someone form Chief Architect.
-
You should be able to login to the Chief website from any computer and activate/deactivate.

No guide that I know of. You might search around in Tips & Techniques for any info posted by a user. Tags are whatever you want them to be. Completely optional. I believe you have the basics since you managed to post this.

Strange Soffit - Act Like the Door Trim I Want You to Be!
solver replied to SeabeeMike's topic in Q&A
Oops -- I left out that part. It should be Molding head 3 in the library. If it works, I'll make you one using your dimensions. And it can be saved anywhere. Also, just double clicking on it should do the install into Pro. -
Strange Soffit - Act Like the Door Trim I Want You to Be!
solver replied to SeabeeMike's topic in Q&A
Soffits have magic properties that are often unwanted but cannot simply be turned on or off. Slabs are far less likely to cause these type of problems. Here is a molding you might try. Use as a Lintel and check Wrap. After copying the file to your PC, drag it into Pro, or Library>Import Library Door-Window Head Trim 1.calibz -
Are you able to duplicate what I showed?

That's the way it's normally done. Start a new plan, you are on Level 1. Build a new floor. The software creates a new Level 2. No need to move up a level.
