Another video showing how to use a soffit and landing. Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/cJ7oAEG15UA

Don't know, but the links are fixed now. Having some odd trouble with YouTube last day or 2.

All good solutions above, but in reality, raised areas like that are normally poured along with, or on top of the garage floor and don't have additional stemwalls or footings below.

After watching David's video ... Edit>Reset to Defaults Select All Floors, and then check all the options below. That will clean up all the problems. Reset the walls to gable and you should be good. ----------- And one more request ... Please post images directly -- no need to make a PDF of an image. This makes it easier for others as an image shows in the forum.

You cannot use the dormer tools to do what you want. Notice the wall on the dormer is not aligned over the wall below. You will need to explode the dormer, and then the dormer roof becomes a manual roof plane. What part of the roof is giving you trouble?
-
Open Defaults. Set the backdrop in the camera settings.
-
The simple answer is to learn and use manual roofs. Nothing wrong with starting with auto build, but you will save time and be less frustrated using manual instead of trying to coerce the auto builder to do what you want. People will look at the image and see a full width dormer, I see a 2 story house with an extra U shaped roof plane -- something that may be added at any time. Search for decorative truss. I've shown how to manually do them. You can also just use a truss generated by the program. And try to build a complete model. If you want a porch, it should be there as it will make a difference in how the roof builds.

Is the plan publicly available on the internet? The request was for your Home Designer plan file, not the one you are copying from.

A different way using a landing and a soffit for the raised part. Watch on YouTube: http://youtu.be/0x5OxKpjZ3k?hd=1

No settings to do that, but I'm curious what advantage this alternate procedure would provide. And generally, you would click (left-click) not right-click. You still need to move to the end point to complete the action.

I don't believe so, but can you explain what you would like to do? Or what the other software does that you want to emulate?

Don't use a dormer. Create a room and raise the ceiling.

ChiefTalk is for Chief Architect, HomeTalk is for Home Designer. You need to be on ChiefTalk. Could you post an image or 2. I don't have the model open and with the trial, unable to save. Are you asking about these? They are invisible walls and may be deleted.

Don't know -- it wasn't me. I gave you an upvote so you are back to neutral.
-
No idea what you want to do. Can you explain a bit more?

Terrain builds on whatever level you are on when you Build Terrain.
-
Your terrain is on level 0. You work on the terrain in Plan view.
-
The vertical siding is board and batten not the material you are thinking of. I don't use prefinished siding so I'm not familiar with what's available.
-
I did offer. The test plan is just that. Open it, see if you can update the materials as you like. You will not be able to change the shape of the roof. If you are able to change things, I'll do the actual plan.
-
It's not clear from your images what the problem is. Could you attach the plan file?
-
That's all it is. You asked about changing the materials/colors on the roof.
