    Dormers

    That's not a dormer, it's just a gable, and is created like any other gable. Just assign the wall below it as a gable wall. Here is a similar roof on a plan I was testing some ideas on recently. You might also be interested in this thread.
  2. @Hammer7 You might try contacting tech support. They are quick to respond to this type of issue.
  3. Have you tried selecting the egress well wall and dragging it down? Also suggest providing your software title -- Suite, Pro etc, as they often have different capabilities. Or just do it the easy way as Jo Ann suggest.
  4. And because a Custom Backsplash may have depth, you can use it to do some interesting things. David -- Have you used Material Regions in X6? This seems like much the same thing.
  5. Thanks Elovia and David. David -- I tried using a pony wall. Did not seem to work on an attic wall. Also tried building a very short second floor, then raising the ceiling to the ridge, which sort of worked. Thought of using a Custom Backsplash sometime in the night. Tried it this morning and it works.
  6. The attached image shows 2 colors, and maybe 2 materials on the gable walls. I have tried the Wall Covering dialog which sort of works. Using a pony wall does not work. How would you do this?
  7. Place the dormer (Auto Floating Dormer). Explode the dormer -- select the dormer, right click, explode dormer. Select the roof hole and delete it.

  9. What title (Suite, Pro etc) are you using? Could you post screen captures of what you are getting, or post the plan?

    I don't know about Architectural. Check your help for "Reflecting Objects".

    The break tool for stair landings is in the edit toolbar, usually located at the bottom of the window. Here is an easy way to do this type of stair. Draw a U shaped stair and adjust it so it's to your liking. Now select the top run, copy, reflect around the center of the middle run. That mirrors the steps to the other side of the landing. Do the same for the bottom run and you have your stairs. I removed railings in the images so the stairs would show better.

    This type of thing is fairly easy in SketchUp. You can create the arch, add trim as needed and then import into Home Designer.
  13. I worked on the garage a bit. I think your structure settings were off. Attached is the modified plan.
  14. I just took a quick look -- need to get back to work, but I noticed the garage has 2 settings reversed. The first should be a negative number, and the second is normally 0 for a garage. Don't know what any of your values should be, and I don't think in metric!

    Was able to do this, but much work yet to do to match your image. Used a round top pass through for the arch. 2 floors, one for the open area, one for the enclosed.

  17. Could you explain "planning out circuits"? What are you wanting to achieve?
  18. Which title (Suite, Pro etc) are you using? When you open the stair, do you get a dialog like the attached?
  19. The problem wall gets marked "Roof Cuts Wall at Bottom" -- image 1. You then need to manually drag the two roof planes over the entry into the wall. They should snap in place. I needed to pull the right side back a bit at the top right corner -- image 2. Does this do what you wanted?
  20. Really need the plan. Have you tried zipping it? Maybe cut it down so just the problem part is shown.
  21. Thanks David. I envisioned rotating the terrain as needed and then placing the house in the terrain using Edit Area All Floors or something similar.
  22. I would think you would show switch and an outlet/junction box on the plan, and use a note to show the specific lighting type, or refer to your lighting schedule.
