Flying saucers.

The front wall color issue is related to the sun. When I changed the sun angle so the front is shaded, the color looks OK. Also the texture on the floor and siding is showing for me. Also changed the dark wall in the bedroom to match the others after taking the image. And I just noticed the upload limit is now 25MB.

There is a huge amount of information available via video on youtube, and the home designer site (and Chief Architect site). Spend a few hours watching and reading over the users guide.

When in a 3D view, find the button (see image) and click. It's often on the far right side of the window. It fills the screen with the structure.

Make a copy of the correct plan. Add a second floor. Copy the wrong plan in as your new second floor. Align walls. Delete lower floor.

Submitted this issue to support. Will report back when I hear from them.

I looked at the plan. See no problems. You should not need to raise the living room ceiling. I'm dealing with a similar issue https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/344-high-shedgable-roof-woes/ I believe this is showing a bug, or limitation of the software. Maybe someone with more experience will have a solution.

Thanks Jo_Ann I'm trying to keep the roof in a single plane on the back side. Here is a view of the entire structure. Second image shows the roof prior to switching to a shed. I lowered the ceiling height to match the rest of the structure, broke the front wall, added High Shed/Full Gable to the front wall and rebuilt the roof. I could fix manually, but trying to figure out how to get the program to do it.

Lower the ceiling height in the room under the roof you want to change to the proper dimension. Uncheck High Shed/Gable Wall for wall 1. You may need to break the wall where the roof changes. Set the roof pitch on wall 1 so the new roof section joins where it should.

Thanks David. Should have been more clear. In image 3, I want to make the raised roof on the left a High Shed Gable. The only wall marked High Shed/Full Gable is the front wall of this section as shown below. Image 2 shows this, but the roof has incorrectly extended over the dropped center section as shown by the tan siding. The attached image shows the interior wall for the raised area has built correctly.

Image 1 shows part of the plan in question. Highlighted wall at lower left is marked High Shed/Gable Roof. Wall to right is unbroken the length of the building and is not marked High Shed/Gable Roof. The wall extending from the break is a Full Gable, as is the wall to the right where the shed roof is ending. Image 2 shows the problem. The tan sided part should not be there. Image 3 shows what it should look like, minus the high shed wall. Ideas?

Set all ceilings to 7'. Set front and back walls to Full Gable. Set right wall to High Shed/Gable Wall. Play with roof pitch set via left wall to get correct right wall height.

Your structure information -- relative and absolute measurements looks wrong. Try doing a new first floor with correct heights, then derive the basement. See what you get.

Thanks for taking a look Mick. It's not all that important that it is perfect, just frustrating.

This seems like a rather ambitious project to be using a $99 product on. Maybe it's time to consider an upgrade? You may also think about renting Chief Premier month to month. With Premier, there is a tool to copy settings from one room to multiple rooms, all at once. I would consider starting over. I suspect you will be fighting these problems for a long time because it's impossible to know when everything is correct.

Problem is related to the space to the left. It's a carport, and as long as it is not a defined room, the deck and railing work as expected. Image 1. Define the carport as a room -- I am using Open Below as there is no floor, it will be gravel, and it effects the deck as seen in image 2. I have attached a stripped down plan file if anyone cares to have a look.

Thanks Jo Ann. I think I'll try deleting all the rails and things, including the deck and start fresh.

Yes I am able to recreate. While playing with a stripped down plan, I fixed it in this specific location. There is a short interior wall right of the door. I made it longer by about a foot. There is a cabinet that the Room Divider passes over. I moved it out of the way and drew in the Room Divider. I then moved the cabinet back into position, and shortened the wall back even with the Room Divider. Room Divider stayed as it should. Thanks for your efforts Mick.

This started as a porch with slab. Changed to Deck with a roof over.

Look at Floor Above and Ceiling in image 1. They are the same, but Floor Above should be more -- see image 2. Don't know how to fix.

Image shows using the Straight Deck Edge tool. Better. I want the deck to extend to the wall, and the post to stay where it is. If I move the end of the deck, post moves along with it and is now out of alignment.

A Room Divider shows as a single dashed line and takes no room. An Invisible Wall shows as 2 dashed lines and takes up the width of a wall. As shown in the first image above. Both drawn the same -- chose Build > Wall > Room Divider. One stayed a single line and when you view its properties, it shows wall type Room Divider. The other changed to an invisible wall -- in properties wall type is the default interior wall set to invisible.
