  1. Draw a straight ramp, select it and click the Change Line/Arc icon. Shape as required.
  2. Delete the slab and walls. All you should need are 3 invisible walls outlining the porch. Set the room type to Porch and make sure Roof Over is checked. Set the end walls to Full Gable and the front wall to have a lower pitch.
  3. Read up on how the material painter works. There are multiple modes -- you need to select the correct one. Dormers work like most other objects, you select it, open its dialog and make changes. You also have Default Settings that may be changed -- set roof to shed for example. I don't understand these two. Do you have better images of the house you are modeling? When asking about roofs, using a Technical Illustration with the patterns off (3D>Toggle Patterns), gives a clearer picture. And posting the plan file will help answer your questions.
  4. If the concrete in front of the house is a room, select Roof Over This Room to start. Lots of good info linked above.
  5. Change the hip to a gable.
  6. There are training resources available (linked above). Have you reviewed them? You mention creating a shed dormer. What specifically is the issue? Same with changing the roof to metal. What are you doing that does not work? Attaching the plan file is often helpful too. Close the program before attaching.

  9. Not in the Home Designer line.
  10. Exactly. Place the tub in the countertop, then shape the countertop to fit. Once you understand the CAD tools used for shaping things -- countertops, slabs, roofs etc, it goes quickly. You might want to block the tub and countertop when yo are done.
  11. Use a Custom Countertop. They may be shaped where soffits cannot. I show a gap only so you can see how to form the basic shape. You would close the gap.
  12. I bet that's a limitation of all titles except Pro -- sorry for the misinformation. You seem to be stuck with doing 1 wall at a time. Back to your original question. What does the material list have to do with this? The amount of brick and siding will almost be the same. You will need a bit more concrete to form a brick ledge. In any case, I would supply your contractor drawings to bid from, and not rely on the materials list.
  13. No, select all your exterior walls and change at once -- either change the Siding-6 wall, or change to a Brick wall type.
  14. All you did is paint the siding with a brick texture, you did not change the material. Change the Siding-6 wall to have brick instead of siding, or select your exterior walls and change them to Brick-6 (or whatever brick wall you want).

  16. My take on the problem. Watch on YouTube: http://youtu.be/v_DgpOpC8ik?hd=1 Or here ...
  17. Pro gives you more tools. It's up to you to learn and use them.
  18. Your image shows a lower pitch roof on the porch. Fix that and your roof will build closer to what you need. With Pro, you have manual roof tools too.

The program like walls that match from floor to floor when thinking about visible lines as you have shown. Here is an idea for you to experiment with. If you want an all brick foundation wall, just substitute brick for the concrete I show. And leave the sill plate in place -- maybe make it 3 1/2".

  22. Make multiple cabinets and then combine them. Use soffits, partitions, custom countertops. You just need to think creatively.
