ICONDEV
Will HD ARCHITECT 2018 allow me to draw this cabin in the picture? If so, could someone direct me to a tutorial on how to separate the 3 opposing shed roofs?
DavidJPotter
The software does not "draw" anything, rather it is your skill and competence that will "draw" anything. There is nothing in that photo that Architectural is unable to draw, the only limitation is you and your persistence. DJP
solver
Have you tried? I know of no tutorial.
ICONDEV
Yes, and i cannot get the roof correct.
DavidJPotter
You define 3 shed roofs in the walls that support those shed roofs and then keep building roofs making indicated changes until you get what you are after. If that does not work and you have tried everything you can reach, then upgrade to Home Designer Pro where, roof-wise anything is then possible once you learn how to use the new manual roof tools. ICONDEV
it seems as though I need to break them up and treat them as 3 independent rooms/roofs?

Getting the basic form is easy -- getting the roof correct will be far more difficult. You really need the manual roof tools in Pro to do this type of roof. ICONDEV
Would using a wall break, or potentially turning the interior walls to reformatted exterior walls help me?

Note the incomplete roof overhangs. Walls could be easily drawn in.

DavidJPotter
Great! now as earlier suggested, add, manually your missing "Attic Walls" (you go to the "Attic <A> " level, turn on the "Reference Display" and then manually draw your walls that are missing on that level, place your windows and doors and VOILA! You have it all, and well done! DJP

It's as if they drew the L2 walls, despite me not even having a L2. Suggestions sir?
DavidJPotter
1 hour ago, ICONDEV said: Suggestions sir? Attic walls (to be identified as such by the software) also need to be marked, by you manually as ""Attic Walls", "No Locate" and "No Room Define". When that is done, by you, they should then filll up the side-spaces you wish them to. Those check-boxes are to be found on each wall's "Wall Specification Dialog - General Tab", take a look please! ICONDEV
I selected the two check boxes, but it did not fill in. Where else may I have messed up?
Jo_Ann
The exterior of this design is fairly easy to do, BUT...the interior could be a problem (depending on what you want). And, you haven't provided enough info for your intentions on the interior. This is much more complicated to do with Architectural, as opposed to Pro. Posting your plan might help. ICONDEV
All 1 level, all vaulted ceilings. I'm trying to get the attic walls to fill in and the roofs to overhang on the insides to match the outsides. Thanks in advance! 1 hour ago, Jo_Ann said: The exterior of this design is fairly easy to do, BUT...the interior could be a problem (depending on what you want). Jo_Ann
And therein presents the big elephant in the room, "all vaulted ceilings". When I said post the plan, I meant the plan FILE. Not images. Before posting the plan file, try to make the structure as complete as possible. Roof pitch and basic ceiling heights are important. If you intend to add the porch, then you need to do that also before posting the plan. Close your HDA program before uploading the plan.
