Italbrass Bandini Wall Mount Faucet
katalyst777 replied to BrandonJJinkins's topic in Tips & Techniques
This should probably be posted in the Q&A section instead of Tips. To answer your question though, use KB-00888: Importing 3D Symbols and this 3D Warehouse glass wall faucet symbol https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=ub88596b4-9fad-4ccd-9cf8-0d8f5078b12d to model it. -
Does your version have the "Custom Backsplash" cabinet tool? If so, you can use some of these on walls in order to create the look of cabinet doors. Place hinges and door knobs or pulls from the Library Browser as independent objects. Walls are also already going to get cut off by roof planes, so you can use them and actual cabinets resized for the front of the cabinet doors for the angled back style in a loft. Or you can just use normal Full Height cabinets if you only care about the interior look, but outside will look funky with the cabinet tops sticking out.

Looking at the Product Chooser, I think you'll need to upgrade to either Architectural or Pro for creating dimensionable Cross Section/Elevation views, and only Pro has layouts. More info on layouts HERE. You probably also want to check out the print size limits.

If you don't have an "Edit" button next to "Floor Structure" in your Floor or Room Defaults, then your Pro 2014 version may not have that ability (I don't recall when it was added).

You can create your own decorative gable end brackets / trusses using Soffits, or just import one that has the appropriate pitch. Agreed, a screenshot would be helpful so we know what type of object you've selected that you are wanting to move using dimensions, and what dimension you were hoping to move it with.

It still really looks like a video card issue, based on the images. Did you get in touch with the company's technical support people? What did they say? I still don't see a compressed backup of the plan attached to your last post, only the images.

Place a cabinet foot independently from the Library Browser. Make any desired changes to it. Copy/Paste however many you need. Raise the cabinet off the floor by the height of the cabinet feet. In the dialog preview of the cabinet, select the Toe Kick and Delete it. Make whatever other changes you need to the cabinet and click OK. Put the cabinet where you want it. Place the cabinet feet where they need to go under the Cabinet (hold down the Control key to allow for unrestricted movement when you place them). Since you've got Architectural, you should be able to group select the cabinet and feet with a marquee and create a block of them (if I'm remembering correctly, it's been a while since I still had an Architectural version). You can then copy/paste the block of objects to add to your User library or just Copy/Paste it on the other side of the bed or couch or whatever.

Slow moving in 2D editor/Moving walls in 2D editor
katalyst777 replied to TechConcepts's topic in Q&A
Your client has an unreasonable speed expectation, because 3 to 4 seconds isn't really "slow" . . . if they were talking 20-30 seconds for something to move, then maybe there would be cause for concern. Still, was it this article that Tech Support asked you to go through? KB-00689: Troubleshooting Slowness in Home Designer Plans Did you send them all of the files that the "Advanced Troubleshooting" section asked for? Unfortunately most of us here in the forum aren't going to be equipped to offer any suggestions based on the System Information or Message Log files like Tech Support can. However, you could post a backup of the plan here and we might be able to offer some suggestions on simplifying the design to speed it up. More than likely though taking a few seconds really isn't something to be worried about or any indication that something needs fixed. -
If it's a left sliding window, then the left side is the part that slides (to the right in your image), that's why it's on the interior.

HomeTalk's direct search on the forum drops anything three letters or less. Use the "Search" field on the main website and then switch to the HomeTalk tab if you only want forum results. (Although in this case before switching tabs you'll see that there's a Knowledge Base article as the top result that answers your rug question anyway). KB-00290: Placing and Modifying a Rug

The two things may not be related, but try placing the grab bars elsewhere where they don't conflict with anything, raise their height from the floor, then hold down the Control key on your keyboard while moving them into place on the wall. If you're still getting a crash in 3D, there's probably something else going on. KB-00897: Troubleshooting 3D Display Problems

You have a framing overview, and with customizing your wall types you have some limited control over the On Center framing in Architectural, but any more in terms of customization and you'd be looking at needing Pro instead.

Not automatically, but since you'll both be starting off with the same copy of the plan file where walls are already placed at the same location, when you get the plan back from the other person, in your plan you can turn on just the layers of objects that you worked on, drag a marquee around everything, copy it from your plan, then open the copy of their plan and use Edit> Paste> Paste Hold Position to put those objects in the same spot and save a new copy of the file that has everything. (Since the other person would be working on things included in wall elements and in rooms, you wouldn't want to copy their version into your plan.)

You need to be in a 3D Camera view.

Okay, I admit, this one has been bugging me, so I went ahead and downloaded the Architectural 2017 trial and tested it out with one of the Interior Design templates and you'll be happy to learn that you're wrong. It does work in your version! Pretty much all the Home Designer programs have the exact same rendering capabilities (except maybe Essentials but I couldn't find that version on the website anymore). Instead of a rug for this one, I used a Slab for the wooden flooring material in this one because I could place a break in it and reshape it to the L shape of the room. Didn't want to spend time modifying the other materials or lighting, but I'm confident I could improve the realism of the view using the same tips from the earlier thread I linked to.

I don't think Suite or Architectural can create a hotkey list like this, but according to this article, the Premier X8 version can. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00238/using-the-customizable-hotkeys-feature.html
-
The edit toolbar button to align doesn't show up if the walls are already aligned, or if they are too far out of alignment, or if the walls are not the exact same angle between floors. It sounds like you turned off your Angle Snaps. Turn them back on, then fix the off-angle walls. KB-00311: Correcting Crooked Walls or Lines

Questions on...stairs, room labels, sunroom, and ceilings in Cape Cod
katalyst777 replied to illercan's topic in Q&A
KB-00125: Creating a Stairwell for your Staircase Drag a marquee around the room labels with your mouse. The Master Bedroom label alone says on the Status Bar that 29 objects select when I do this, which probably means you've only been deleting one at a time. Marquee select and delete the duplicates. I have no idea how you replicated them all so many times? KB-02263: Creating Glass Walls KB-00780: Creating a Sun Room There are no manual framing options in Architectural to create your Roof Trusses like there are in Pro and Premier. You might be able to fake the look by importing symbols from the 3D Warehouse or manually build them using sloped Soffits. -
Nope. Much easier to just use walls than the House Wizard.
