  1. There were many threads on the old HomeTalk about these. Their video doesn't meet the minimum system requirements and they aren't supported. If you only care about the 2D floor plan, you might be okay, but the 3D is one of the main advantages of using this software.
  2. There are three different ways that Room Labels can be set to display. This article has an explanation for each. http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00552/
  3. I've had good luck with this one in the past, but since it is a Windows app, I may be on the lookout for something else in the near future. http://anydwg.com/dwg-dxf/
  4. There's no real control over this in Architectural. Pro has a "Pattern" tab for defining materials that affects how the Materials List generates. You can try just placing these types of things in a new blank plan and generate a materials list to get an idea of what is going on though.

    Range top view

I think David answered your question that the Chief Architect Premier can do this, but none of the Home Designer titles can change how the 2D floor plan for the symbol displays. If you are sure of the symbol you want to use, maybe consider posting over on ChiefTalk and see if someone can clean up the 2D for you and send you back a fixed version of the object.
  6. Not sure if it's the same issue, but I had trouble uploading images using Firefox with this new forum and had to switch over to Chrome.
  7. While it is certainly nice to what what title/version someone has, honestly it seems like most of the posts don't really require it in order to answer the question, so it seems pretty futile to get upset if people don't do it. Just my 2 cents.
  8. Most dialogs even have a "Help" button located near the lower right to quickly access Help on that particular dialog.
  9. Sometimes there can also be an issue with the video card that can cause lighting to not look very good. Most video cards will be limited to only showing 8 lights as "on" for example.
  10. Use a Terrain Feature and reshape it using the Break Line and Change Line/Arc edit tools. Discussed in this Help Database article - http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00864/

Just bringing over the replies from the thread on the old forum in case you had trouble finding them. http://hometalk.homedesignersoftware.com/showthread.php?19531-roof-problem
  12. You might need to adjust the Height of one of your terrain features so that it is slightly more raised than the other. http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00806/ http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00864/
  13. Here are some of the materials I've found online that work well for applying to Appliances to give that shiny effect. http://homedesigner.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-01084/
  14. There's an icon on the toolbar for "Move Camera with Mouse" or you can also go under the 3D menu, Move Camera with Mouse, Mouse-Orbit Camera.
  15. There was a post on this some years ago back over on the old forum. http://hometalk.homedesignersoftware.com/showthread.php?16305-Shiny-Metal-Materials "... if you don't want a flat gray color, you want to apply a texture to your objects, and not just a flat color. There is a selection of metal materials in the Formica manufacturer catalog that might suit your needs. You could also do a Google Image search online for shiny metal pictures until you find something that is suitable for you to import as a material. Attached are some images that demonstrate how these types of materials (when set as "Stretch to Fit" so that they don't tile across the surface) can look when applied to appliances in Home Designer."
