    1 1/2 Story

KB-00358: Automatically Building a One and a Half Story Roof The third section entitled "To adjust the second floor" under its second step explains how to adjust the ceiling height.
  2. Select and Delete it. Or, if you think you'll want to reference it again later, turn off the display of the CAD, Default layer in your 2D floor plan view.
  3. None of the Home Designer articles are Mac vs PC. The only difference I personally have observed is that Preferences is under the Edit menu on the PC, and under the program menu's name on the Mac, and usually with that one I've seen them actually put both instructions in the same article itself. So, this article should work just fine for learning how to modify a material, such as tile, for it's size as well as rotate it, if needed. KB-00583: Adding Tile to Walls UPDATE: Ahhh, I think I see you're confusion with your statement: Check out this article on "How to Right Click on a Mac" since you're unfamiliar with the process. http://www.wikihow.com/Right-Click-on-a-Mac
  4. Since you have Pro, you can get the roof to generate as close as possible using the automatic tools, and then just manually adjust the roof planes as needed.
  5. Mick is correct, there's no way to automatically do what you want, you'll need to manually adjust the walls appropriately.
  6. David's method only turns off the display of existing dimensions. It doesn't delete them or stop them from updating. Instead . . . Edit> Default Settings> Dimension> Auto Exterior Dimension Defaults Uncheck Auto Refresh Dimensions Click OK Then, Edit> Delete Objects> All Floors> check Automatic Dimensions then click the Delete button and Done to actually get rid of them. Or just select one of the auto dimensions and click on Delete. It will prompt you asking if you want to turn off the Auto feature and you can choose Yes and only get rid of the dimensions you want.
  7. David, I don't believe Architectural has the Transform/Replicate edit tool, unless it was added in the most recent version?
  8. Based on your earlier questions, it does sound like going with anything less than Pro (which has layouts, manual control over roof and framing, advanced CAD tools, etc) is going to just be a disappointment for you. The company's Sales folks are going to be the ones best equipped to answer these types of questions on the comparison between programs and their features though. https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/company/contact.html
  9. Renaming a floor to attic would have nothing to do with the roof generation (basically, your question makes no sense), so I second Mick's recommendation to attach the plan so we can figure out why your roof isn't being created when you build it.
  10. You can only have 1 terrain perimeter in a plan, so the line is probably something else? Post the plan and we'll take a look.
  11. As a side note, I think only the Premier version allows you to create actual bowed in cabinets like what are shown in your image, but you can probably fake the look with a bunch of custom countertops stacked on top of one another.

    Terrain data

I apologize for misunderstanding. If you don't have the data already to import, it would be easier to just go ahead and model the terrain using the terrain tools.
  13. Check out this article for what I think you're trying to accomplish based on your description. KB-00878: Creating a Plant Shelf Closet
  14. KB-00888: Importing 3D Symbols This Knowledge Base article has instructions on importing, as well as a link to the 3D Warehouse, which is probably the largest resource for free 3D symbols. If you find a symbol you just want parts of, then its not too much more work to download and install the free version of SketchUp so you can delete the elements that you don't want, resave the symbol, and then import the new version to Home Designer. You might want to use some non-specific search terms too, like the ones below as examples. https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=petrol https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=gas+station https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=convenience+store https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=refrigeration+case https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=store+shelves https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=display+case https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/search.html?q=cash+register

    Terrain data

Check under your software's File> Import menu and in the software's Help to learn more about your options for you particular Home Designer title (might be good to add it to your signature so we don't have to ask each time). Here's a screenshot of my Pro 2015 Help on the available options.

    Terrain data

This is a pretty vague question. There's a lot of resources in the software's Help, the videos, and the online Knowledge Base on creating terrain. http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/category/72/0/10/Home-Designer/Terrain/ http://video.homedesigner.chiefarchitect.com/?search=terrain If you're having a specific struggle, let us know and we'd be happy to try and help.
  17. So you are wanting to create something like this? Since Attic Walls will rebuild, you should make sure that everything is located correctly before changing the material in their Wall Specification dialogs.
  18. In case someone comes across this thread using the search in the future. KB-00863: Rotating the Direction of a Material
  19. This article applies to the Premier X7 version, but maybe some of the steps may work in Pro? http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00797/

  21. KB-01009: Using Dynamic Defaults to Update Cabinets
  22. Gates can't be placed as independent symbols, you have to click on a fence segment (created using one of Build> Fencing tools, not just individually placed millwork panels from the Library Browser) to add them.

    Dimensions

The best thing to do would be to just fix the objects the dimensions are locating so that they are the actual distance you want them to be. However, you can also check in your Dimension Defaults to see what kind of options you have there for how dimensions display.
  24. I wonder if this information might help if you didn't want to uninstall the Dell Backup and Recovery service? http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/software-os/f/3526/t/19525968
  25. It doesn't take too much to copy/paste what was in the earlier referenced thread to save some time searching.
