    Stairs

A rectangular Polyline will NOT work for the glass railing, watch my video where I show you what DOES work please. DJP

    Stairs

I never learned how to use Sketch Up either but I have always been able to create simple custom objects using it for import into Home Designer titles. Sketch Up is very easy to use for symbol making, especially relatively simple objects like glass railings and other Architectural appliques. DJP

    RV design

Home Designer pro does not do rounded walls like an Airstream has, otherwise, yes you can design the interior, just not to nine decimal points. DJP

    Stairs

I was successful in creating a glass railing for a stair object in Home Designer Pro 2019 (My license for Home Designer Pro 2018 lapsed) but never the less you should be able to do what I show in the video in Home Designer Pro 2018. As soon as the video is formatted I will post it here like the others. DJP

    Stairs

That being the case your hardest part after the custom winder stairs shown in my videos above, will be the glass railing. I will see if HD Pro 2018 can use the railing tool for that, if successful I will post a video of the results of my experiment or a message of failure. DJP

    Stairs

The glass rail is going to be problematic with ANY Home Designer software. Any version of Chief Architect Premier can do the glass rail easily but a lot more difficult in Home Designer, without the adjunct use of Sketch Up to make the glass rail symbol to import into Home Designer. DJP

Zahida, You need to share with us also what software and what its version number is, without knowing that, no one can help but rather guess as to what to say to help you. Stairs are demanding in terms being precise and methodical, it requires lots of practice after carefully reading the documentation about "Stairs" in your Reference Manual (found under the "Help" menu in your software). What software do you have? DJP
  11. Happy for you, well done getting it figured out! DJP
  12. If you downloaded it from the Home Designer Catalog webpage, it should have worked. If you downloaded it from elsewhere, probably not. Where did you download the library file from, please? If you did not obtain it from the Home Designer website, then try again from there. You can also manually install the Dal tile library using your Library-Import Library file command. DJP
  13. Post a copy of your plan, otherwise, we all have to guess what is wrong. Help us, help you, please. DJP
  14. All objects and symbols in this software have Default Settings and Dialog boxes where dimensional changes can be made. That statement should address your question. It is true that, out-of-the-box settings are for USA use but you can change those settings to suit your own purposes. A metric default setting can still be edited and changed by you at any time via Edit - Default Settings. DJP
  15. I gave it a look too but nothing definitive was found DJP
  16. Part of the process of learning this software is being confused, the condition occurs just before you become unconfused. The reason, his looks different, most likely is that his copy probably has different settings that your copy, that is what is most likely. Settings in Dialogs and in Default Settings directly effect everything in a plan file. Your job is to find the correct series of settings to get just the effect you want. DJP
  17. The most common cause of this is that you accidentally created a bit of wall or some other type object away from your house model. The overview camera is programmed to include ALL OBJECTS in plan view. I have seen this complaint numerous times here and it is always the same cause, accidentally placed objects in plan view. find and delete the unplanned for object and that will solve the problem. DJP
  18. I rarely use the Materials List and so that is not an important consideration to me. When I first started using Chief Architect back in 1994 my then boss asked me to thoroughly investigate the material list feature to see how it might help our remodeling business. What I found is that the materials list only measures how competent you are with the software. In other words, if you make a PERFECT 3D model the result will be a useable materials list. When I say "Perfect" I mean exactly that which is beyond the abilities of most users, especially new ones. I do use Chief to do take offs but NOT the Materials List per se. It is great for quick calculations of space and volumes but I do the take off the old fashioned way using the raw data from Chief and a calculator, modified by my knowledge of actual building methods and procedures. This, I found to be quite useful and this is also the method professional take off professionals use: Chief for the Raw data and then input into a dedicated software program designed for doing take-off calculations. That said there are those who use the integral Materials List tool for take-offs but they are meticulous with their materials settings and procedures as well. DJP

    Gridlines

Essentials is the only Home Designer or Chief Architect software product that DOES NOT have grid lines as a feature, sorry. All other Home Designer titles do have that as a feature. DJP
  20. I sometimes just set the interior wall's "Main Layer" to "Drywall" or a color to handle this anomaly, in Chief I often use a custom 3D object to cover anomalous instances as well but that is not an option for Home Designer users. A thin, reshaped soffit sometimes works to cover such blemishes also in HD programs. DJP
  21. Carefully study the "Roof Styles" tab of the "Build Roof Dialog" for the required settings to produce the common roof types in Architectural. Then practice creating such roofs in a simple Test Plan to work out the kinks in your competence to produce such roof types at will. Only then, start applying your newly acquired skills to your house model. DJP

    skp files

Symbols use images in plan views and the symbol's 3D faces to be seen in camera views (that is how they are programmed to work, whether as an imported symbol or like the symbols that come with your software. Your Software is not programmed to natively dimension to them like other 3D objects like walls, cabinets, fixtures etc. If your software has the "Tape Measure" tool under "Dimension Tools" you can at least get an approximation of its dimensions and also via the symbol's own Dialog Box where you should be able to see a display of three dimensions that define the symbol's size. DJP

    Gridlines

Save your desktop view as an image (Control Key - Print Screen), as an image file, it should include your visual grid lines. They are designed not to print otherwise as far as I know. DJP
  24. Name it "Balcony" and then uncheck "Ceiling over this room" and "Roof over this room" on the room's Structure Tab. DJP
