The visibility of objects, like rafters and joist, is dependent on Layer Display Options. Turn layer display on or off to see, or not see objects on those layers.
-
In all Home Designer titles, you can only turn the display of a layer on or off. You cannot delete or create new layers. You cannot specify, or change which layer an object is on.
-
You do know you must turn on Line Weights. View>Line Weights

For problems like this just the plan file is needed, not a backup of the entire plan.
-
Window defaults, Minimum Separation Looks like you have a small wall there that's not aligned.

Think about what you want the roof to do. If it is to join at the ridge, the lower pitch roof planes need to change. What needs to change to make them build correctly?
-
No need to complicate things -- just learn how the program works ... All automatic.
-
Multiple ways to do this. You control alternate (not default) roof pitch in walls. Roofs build over rooms, so set the ceiling height to set the wall top height to control where the roof starts. I'd make the section with the loft a 2nd floor, but it's not necessary. Manual roofs -- Watch on YouTube: http://youtu.be/LsjUP9ee6jU?hd=1

Because defaults are plan specific. You might want to spend some time with the documentation to get a better understanding of how the program is used.

You need to update your Template plan. Search Tips & Techniques for info.

This trick can be tried any time walls don't connect correctly. Watch on YouTube: http://youtu.be/qZ9maGsukZ8?hd=1

I've not seen the problem you describe. For questions like this, best to attach the plan file.

Open a room, review the Structure panel. You will see where you can adjust floor and ceiling heights. Suggest you create a new plan and experiment a bit to see how the settings work. Use a Cross Section camera to see what's happening.

I've not looked at the plan. You need to make your "attic" a numbered floor. When you build the roof, use Ignore Top Floor, or reduce the ceiling height on the top floor, build the roof, then turn off auto rebuild. Where is this located? Don't understand this, and are directions indicated on the plan? Read about/watch videos about stairs. Check out the other arch types. There is no match roof pitch setting, but this is easily done by eye or with a bit of math.
-
I imagine this, centered under a gable. OP wants the sloped parts to match the roof pitch.

Dimensions do not locate moldings, except on cabinets. You can place a CAD line or a Point Marker and dimension to them.
