Box Window Tool Help

Recommended Posts

I created a box window for the kitchen windows and want it to include 3 double hung windows rather than the default 2 flat windows.  Can this be done?  I tried pasting in a window and get an error message "Unable to paste "window". Window must be placed in containing object."

I'm also getting these weird extensions above the window going up into the second floor.  How can I get rid of these?

The box bay window tool is limited in terms of editability. To do what you want, instead of using that tool, manually draw three walls and then manually place windows, this way you can more easily edit the windows to what you need.

If I add three walls it will auto add the foundation and then the walls will be 2 stories.  I want a box out.  Can you provide more specific directions on how to just do a box out without a second floor above and foundation?

Thanks

Turn off auto rebuild foundation.

Put a roof on it.

That's not a great solution.  If I move a wall in the future the foundation won't line up with it.  Is there a way to just specificy no foundation under a specific wall area?

The window on the left is solver's solution without the foundation, the window on the right is David's solution with the foundation  I lowered the ceiling, gabled the side walls and lowered the pitch for each wall. If this doesn't work for you, then post the plan and some pics.

You can make the room a Deck, changing the settings for the floor structure etc as needed.

Or you can complete your design, and just delete the foundation walls you don't want.
