Building Terrain perimeter with plot map bearings & dimensions
Rookie65 replied to Doug_Morrison's topic in Q&A
If it's a PDF, import it to your plan, set the scale from marked dimensions, then trace it. You'll want to turn it so that your walls run straight up for the structure. In other words, turn the terrain, not the house -
The material properties was a good feature. There is no realistic looking screen porch screening option now. Deleting the watermark takes away our ability to protect our work, or to at least mark it as preliminary. Now the way to do that is to add a text box to the layout sheet, which is distracting, and can easily be removed by someone just editing a PDF page in Adobe, etc.

Library>get additional content online>millwork>Corbels and Brackets No.3 Gable. There are several styles there to pick from. Where you are using such an old version, I don't know if it's still available for sale since the change to HD 2026. You should always post questions in the "Q&A" section. "Tips & Techniques" is where you post things you have found that may help others, In "Q&A", you will also likely get more views.

They save as whatever the last settings were for the file you are using. That's why I , and probably most others, keep a "master plan" to start all new projects from. You set up a master and change all of the defaults to what you want them to be. Whether it's geographic preferences for doors, trim, etc. That way, you don't have to change everything for each new plan you start.

Or you can read up on creating your own materials for the user catalog. You can copy an image from their website and import that. Set the scale you want it to be at, and you should be good to go.

Try calling the room with the shorter stem wall a garage in room type only. Then you can name the display name whatever it needs to be. Set your garage room defaults to what you need it to be.
-
That's your only option, yet you could buy it for a year and not renew if you don't need it.
-
I guess that's one of the drawbacks of not updating a 5 year old version at some point. The new version is half price for now, if that's any consolation?
-
It's not available in HD 2026. One of the many disappointing changes in the new version
-
Best to ask support
-
Ought to ask them directly.

You won't lose 2025 if you upgrade to 2026. There are several changes in 2026 that I find very irritating regarding features no longer available. I'm currently running both versions and was told by support that 2025 won't be discontinued. Once you own it, it's yours to use as long as desired.

Have you spent any time reading the reference manual, or looking at the knowledge base?
-
It's either home designer 2025, or chief architect x16. Two different products. Anyway, from your settings for the floor, where default is not checked, there was something changed along the way.
-
The subfloor is already doing that. Look closer

Sadly, not all of the catalogs are available. The ones that were pay for in HD Pro are now free, and a very select few in the Chief catalog library.
-
Possibly, though it's likely that since it's a world-wide program, that is left open so users can decide how they want their ceilings to frame.
-
I always use an 1-1/4" ceiling finish, as that puts the strapping right under the framing and includes the dimension of the strapping and drywall. For a garage ceiling, I change it to 1-3/8" for the fire code drywall
-
Not possible in home designer without making multiple roof breaks and adjusting small area roof pitches. Would likely have to upgrade to chief architect

Separation of Top and Bottom rails on Deck Handrail
Rookie65 replied to LancasterLinda's topic in Q&A
In those cases, I keep the top rail just for the location, then make it very small. Then with either a shape or soffit, I will create the size I need and place it "around" the top tail that I shrunk- 1 reply

Hard to call it advertising when it's free. It's a disappointment for certain.Yet the clearances needed are found on other websites to help with laying out a room
