Nvidia gaming cards are what is suggested for HD and Chief products , no need for Quadro or other CAD/CAM Cards if only doing CAD/CAM I would think ddr3 is fine if you want to game on it too go DDR5 ... M.

display Options>dimension>manual and automatic.... may help to turn of window and Door labels too. if you don't want to see something ...or can't see something that you think should be there >>>>DISPLAY OPTIONS

I didn't think avi was an option in HD anymore actually , but it maybe that the Codec isn't on my system , but I installed XVID as the other two didn't work for me at all. not sure if MovieMaker or MoviePlus will use Xvid Codec though? https://www.xvid.com/

if you use Eric's 1st suggestion , you can lock the needed end (start,end or center) and alter the angle I believe.

it didnt work for your scrollbars but try the reset >side windows option again 1st, if that doesn't work, delete the Toolbars Folder in the HD Data Folder in my Documents and restart HD, it is supposed to rebuild that folder on startup if it doesn't find it.

Use Shift Select / Marquee Select (Ref.Manual) not the Polyline Tool when using the EDIT >all Floors command..... But usually it is better to move or rotate the Terrain .

The Pocket Door in the Door Menu also works in Exterior Walls, though I am uncertain if you can make it have 4 doors ? going into one side ? haven't tried that. But you can push two Doors hard upto each other to show 4 doors. find the appropriate door in the Library , setting it to Single Door only will make it slide to one side but then you only get one Door too, so it may depend on what is more important to you to show. Pic of the Door may help someone come up with a "workaround" ..... thinking outside the box is something HD Users find they need to do sometimes.

use the Room Divider on the Wall menu ,it allows you to delineate rooms like that with invisible walls ( it used to be called Invisible Wall on the Menu in fact)

It does sound like your video software is degrading / downsampling the Movies when you edit them , which might mean you are using the wrong or default settings, but Like David I am no movie Guru. M.

What you are trying to do doesn't work well in HD as you cannot change the "Layout" of the Texture (picture) while as you have seen the Pattern file for Vector view is easily done as it is just colours. HD (and Chief) use repeating Patterns for applying the pic (texture) , so if the texture of the Tile is of a single tile as in this case HD cannot turn it into a Running Bond (brick) Layout. easiest thing to do is find a Brick Pattern (Running Bond) tile in the Library of approx. the right size and then apply the colour - EXO1 stark white to it , not the material. you could make you own brick pattern Stark White Texture file in Paint or Irfanview with the grout lines too if really needed.

Try preferences>reset options>reset side windows. Curious why you have 2015 since 2016 is out and has some new features, if you buy I think you'd get 2016 now.

Is your tutorial for HDA or Pro ? HDA doesn't have manual roof planes does it? , so I'd be surprised if you have the Join Roof Planes Tool either. Do you have Roof Planes displayed in the Display Options ? ..... note that EVERY view in HD has its OWN Display Options DBX.. which Tutorial are you referring too?

Hi CY , there is an article on Overhangs in the KB (below) but It sounds like you are aware of be able to set different overhangs on different walls, but I think you may have run into a "bug" I think I have seen before, the software is sometime a little "too smart" for it's own good and tries to line things up where it "thinks" it should be , no matter what we tell it , which is when David's invisible / temporary walls method becomes useful. Your plan view and pic don't appear to match ....I think I see a valley in the pic on the extreme left but not in the plan view.... As Eric and David suggested looking at the actual plan is the best solution and the quickest way to get good answers , assuming it can be fixed and isn't a bug. It is difficult to advise further without seeing the specific plan that has the issue unless you can recreate the issue exactly in a test plan. If a symbol doesn't fit , some of them will allow you to place them on the floor ( ignore warning message) and then open them as normal ,alter the size and then use the Ctrl Key to slide them into the Cabinet.... That one might look a bit squashed though as it is 48" wide...... don't forget if you know what you may want to look on 3D Warehouse for the model of the Unit you may use... M.

That was why I dug a bit deeper as I used my Template Plan 1st by habit and it worked as expected , then I realised My Template Plan was made in Pro 10..... here is the 2015 profile plan incase someone needs it .Profile.plan

gave it a quick try with the blank 2015 Profile Plan Typed in Link > Print >Save As PDF open PDF and Click on link.....Profile-Floor Plan.pdf No fancy software needed.

that looks like the Defualt from the 2015 Profile Plan Eric? (white) ....I get the same result as the OP with the 2016 Profile Plan. I have now opened the 2016 version in X7 and autowidth is off , but setting it on doesn't help when opening it in 2016 again though making the default 1/2 wall cap 1 1/2" thick did ,so I think it might be one for Tech support.....

EDIT: It works if you DONT USE the default Profile.Plan supplied by HD it seems ...see below...... after a bit of testing with 2016 your are right , but if you use the Half Wall Tool, instead of a full wall and then converting it , you will get the CAP , but since you have 2015 or earlier version available Open the default Profile.plan from that version ( I used Pro 10 version) and it works as you want and expect ,...except the Cap is 2" thick or so not 3/4" like if you use the HalfWall Tool ,which I think proves there is a Bug in the default settings of the default Profile Plan in 2016 , and knowing Chief has an option to "Auto size width" for Rails, my guess is it is Off in the Supplied Profile.Plan for Pro 2016. You should report your "Bug" to Support so they fix it in the next Version/Update.... M.

haven't tried it but if you print to PDF the link should be "HOT" , though they may have to allow the PDF Doc , to access the internet (Firewall rule???)
