thanks for the heads up.... M.

Looking good you put some time into that , Dave should be happy....

yes it will if you are willing to put the time in , and have some experience making ConDocs. There is only one layout sheet so you will need to make a copy of the plan for each view type needed for your plans at a minimum. You will likely need to hire an engineer too since you have cantilevered decks and a hot-tub sitting on it etc. M.

I had a quick play and changed roof lines and types, Stud height, added some Columns etc , changed window and door Trims etc , but it is going to be about details , ie add some knee Brackets and other elements like exposed Rafter Tails. I also lowered the garage to give it it's own distinct Roof, so it's not quite so boring to look at..... with 21' to the Ridge you could likely squeeze the Quilting Rm/Office Upstairs if you wanted more room on the Main Floor , this is fairly common in California Bungalows with steeper Pitch Roofs. Please add you details to your Forum Signature so we know who you are and What Software you are Using, see my Sig below in Blue for more info, Thanks. one thought ....have you Built the Framing ?

try the inbuilt save to pdf instead if you checked Primo's settings and all is well I use Bullzip PDF myself a lot too but am in windows

AFAIK HD doesn't do angled cabinets , only fronts but there maybe a solution depending on your situation, posting your Plan File is the best way to get help. M.

hi lib. if you look in my sig (blue) it tells you how to add your details to your profile, there is also a tutorial in the KB on how to make custom materials. Mick

sounds like you have backgrounds on? in whatever view you are using, you can turn it off in Preferences for each view type or per Plan via the3D Menu. The default one is a sky scene , look in 3D>3D View Defaults , on the Backdrop Tab you can change it or turn it off and specify a colour , I usually use an off white or pale grey as the default is too bright for me. Dulux doesn't have a Library for HD AFAIK but if you know the RGB numbers for the Colour you can make the Colour by making a Custom Material and saving it to you Library. There is a Resene's Catalogue , not sure if they are in Oz as well as NZ though? Please add you details to your Forum Signature , see mine below . M.

check out some of the online plan services for ideas but a front porch with large columns, stonework , wide trim details, wide roof overhangs exposed rafter tails, knee braces etc. most California Bungalows are in the Craftsman's Style too https://www.google.ca/#q=craftsman+homes Cali. Bungalows https://www.google.ca/#q=california%20bungalow%20style PS add you Details to your Forum Signature , so we know who you are and what you are using....

with the plan and everything at its correct sizes etc it's worth looking at but it is too hard to guess and the details will make a big difference , yes ..... , it looks like a tricky one to me even with Manual Roofs which HDA doesn't have.
-
not sure I understand , as the front wall is (should be) marked "full Gable" , and so you can't change it's pitch. It appears to be using the default roof pitch of 11/12 at the moment. Post the plan , as we are only guessing otherwise........ M.
-
post your plan and let us try it............ In HDA can you select Roof Planes and change their pitch? ie select LH side gable roof plane and change it to 6/12 ( I'm thinking HDA has limited Roof plane manipulation but maybe not?) is the gable forward of the main house wall? , looks like it in your photo but not on your plan.... in which case you need to use invisible walls (room divider) to force the roof to build out there M.

The 3rd floor is User Created , there is an attic level as well , I deleted the 3rd Floor and then the Attic level as well , which forces an auto rebuild of the attic level above Floor 2 and all seems Well. There shouldn't be an issue setting up your "Mini Vaulted" Roof,......once the Roof is built , at normal Stud height , turn of Auto Roof rebuilds and simply raise the Rooms Ceiling Height to the desired height , you need to do this AFTER you have all other Roofs you want done Auto though other Pro will rebuild the Roof and thus the ceilings in those Rooms, so all further Roof planes would need to be Manual. I think part of what you call "crazy attic walls" is due to the fact Pro doesn't understand your Self-made Walls as true walls as they don't have in some cases masonry or Framing , two things HD uses to determine how things join etc , you should perhaps make your walls , as they will be , or are, in the Real World. I didn't figure out why HD thinks 1/2 your walls are reversed , not sure if that is a bug between old and new versions or not? Is the 2nd Floor 4.7 m on it own ? or is that the Total height including the 1st (ground floor) ? your 1st floor is about 2500mm and your 2nd 4300mm approx. , currently , so about 6.8m total at the top of the walls. David's Video is fine , so it must be on your end Keith , you go full screen use the icon on the bottom right of the youtube window , on the right hand side is the speaker icon , click on it an make sure the sound is not only muted but turned up. M.

Kat and David , have you pointed in the right direction, the Roofs build Auto no problem once you set your wall directives correctly and set Room heights as Kat mentioned but a few things : Your upper building (in plan view) has no ceilings which is why David was getting all those weird walls stopping his attic wall repair working correctly , that area is the only one actually that HD Pro doesn't handle nicely on Auto. If you drag that wall over like David in the video, it wont be correct as that wall has a notch/step in it the thickness of the wall so they must be dragged individually if needed. Your wall roof directives are wrong on both big buildings you have them at full gable on the length of the building not the ends. You have a bunch of different ceiling heights , even on the single storey Toilet Block ...best to set Floors to the tallest height if you want the roof to build of the same plate height ( as you have checked) then lower the ceiling in rooms that aren't at default with Auto Roofs off. Before you try Kat's "reset to defaults trick" reset your Defaults eg the 2nd floor height default is 4330mm while the 1st floor is 2520 , that correct? Curious why you have an unused 3rd Floor ? A number of your walls are reversed ,according to the visual indicator ,when you select them ( not sure if that is a 2014 thing though) , some are solid colour which doesn't effect the roof but makes for a bad join in the back corner of the Upper building. On the small single storey extension , that is why you aren't getting an overhang , reversing the walls and then reversing them again to get the siding to ext. seems to fix it although Pro still "Thinks" your walls are reversed, or drag the roof out manually. Overhangs need to be about double the thickness of the Fascia at a minimum or roof planes will cut into walls etc causing issues as the measurement is from the sheathing to the front of the fascia ie normally measured off the face of the ply to the face of the fascia. Double the fascia thickness will allow space for stucco or siding to go up behind usually, eg 50mm (though I don't recommend wall tight overhangs ITRW, seen too much water damage to ever do it myself.) but know you are modelling an Existing Building. Unfortunately Keith I can't share plans with you so not much point posting it unless David or Eric or ??? want to look , unless you have downloaded the 2016 Trial ? so you can open others plans and at least check them out. and copy settings. M.

In my Signature below click on the link to a post about what I call the 12" roof Bug , which explains what is going on I think. if you lower the Porch room ceiling height to 48" and it works like it should you are running into the issue above.... posting the plan and a full size pic to the thread ( not as your avatar) will help too M.

instead of soffits for the Room Edge Drops use a Slab or Custom Countertop and add the Crown Moulding to it , it wont be effected by the Half wall below this method here https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/137-tray-and-vaulted-ceilings-and-wall-affects/#entry7765
-
same issue here , edit the post and delete those two pics and reattach them both ( if not they aren't same) you could also add the plan file to the post so we can see what you have so far. M.
-
PS . delete the glass shower walls you have where the wall is broken and instead use soffits made into glass panels sitting on top of your half wall, I don't use the glass showerwall often as it seems to do weird things , but you have several stacked up in that shower behind the 1/2 wall. Also that 1/2 rail should be one wall with a door in it raised to threshold height for your Shower Tray. M.

When I looked at your plan the 1st time I did it on my S3 actually (non pro) on Win 10 too and don't see them but aren't using Pro 2014 , not sure if I installed the latest Intel Driver or not after I let Win10 load ,might be worth checking.... just downloaded plan on my desktop with NV card and no lines there at 9' or 10' I know they (CA) made some fixes in 2015/2016 for Intel Cards after lots of complaints on CT of issues in x6 and x7, so perhaps it is a bug? DJP is one person who has multiple versions on his Computer you could try PMing him and see if he'll look at it for you.
-
If you know your computer specs put them in your Sig. happy to help if I can.... Not sure about the 9' vs 10' thing , it shouldn't "need" to b 10' . they don't show on my comp. which made me think it was vid. card related , eg older Intel HD Graphics or something. M.

it is in the floor , the structural layer , not the finish , if you look at the material in the Room's Material DBX for the 4 " slab it is red brick , but on the other side in the laundry and closet etc it is the conc. slab as expected (for a 4" slab). Even the Family room is showing a Brick layer but you can't find it in the DBX's only the cross sections M.

try changing the Default camera clipping distance to 300" from 24" , this is pretty standard z-fighting as mentioned and this is the fix especially for large terrains which forces the Cameras far away from the house in Overviews ....just using a Full Camera instead of overview (if possible) can help too. as can changing the OSB Roof Sheathing to the same material as the Roof if needed. I played around abit but had the same results as both of you , it is not the 1st time I have seen this frustrating behaviour of a Room "remembering" it's settings ,even after it has been deleted, if you draw something in the same space again. I didn't find a way in Pro to fix it permanently , default button works temp. but then it changes back it seems but in x6 it seems the "apply same settings Tool" was able to do it , I have marked the plan so you can open it in Home Designer however I don't know how editable it will be you may still need to Report this to TS and get them to fix it AND allow Suite to continue working on it if what I have done doesn't work. Ahhh Jo_Ann posted as I was typing , I tried multiple other room types and switching back to original but didn't try deck or the other "outdoor rooms" seems to fix it strange thing is the brick is still there "in" the floor , in my x6 plan the brick was turned to a conc. slab but is still hidden in the floor too.....strange still it only shows when you look along the length in cross section , do a cross section the other way and it is gone???? front porch cape reduced_MH1_x6.plan before Jo's fix , After ,Slab in laundry ( same as x6 plan) and closet not brick? and looking the other direction ..all VERY Weird M.
