    Floor Structure

I am not sure you can "paint" the structure ( thickness onto the Floor) , the flooring would of changed to brick colour yes but that is it ( you do have two different hardwoods in the house though) Eric and I cannot see your Suite DBX's and settings as we automatically see what Pro would allow us to do , so perhaps use the Snipping Tool in Accessories and take a few pics of the screen for us. So you don't have a Default or Edit button? in the Room's Structure Tab ? Was the Front Porch (Slab Room) brick at one point by chance ? or the Porch part of inside originally? The shutters you have over the garage door etc can be done in the Window DBX itself in Pro , are you using those ones in Suite as you don't have that option? those ones aren't touching the wall and are partly "open" is why I noticed them but looks like you are doing great so far except for this slight floor hiccup . M.
  2. Lot of these kind of questions are answered in the KnowledgeBase (KB) , lots of good Tutorials and FAQ's there including painting one wall Your issue with the Wall DBX maybe related to how or if you Painted the Room before trying to change one Wall but not sure without a plan. if you think you found a bug make sure you report it to TS , as they don't check the Forum for Bug reports, so it wont get fixed otherwise. https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00071/changing-the-color-or-material-of-a-single-wall.html

    Floor Structure

Might make a nice Patio but not sure about the Master bedroom floor ... ***Also SS....It helps if we know what title (Suite, Pro etc) and version you are using. You can add this info to your signature by clicking on your user name at the top right of the page, click My Settings, then Signature on the left.
  4. 2014 what? please add that information in your Profile Signature > UserName- above right side >my settings>signature there are something like 30 versions of the SW supported here and is needed for many answers. I think Room Divider came in 2015 to replace the Invisible Wall and is really an Invisible wall that is 0" wide , but I am not sure if 2014 will accept 0" but you can try these settings from 2016 and make a new walltype the same perhaps? (don't know what SW you have) If it continues try new videocard drivers from the maker of the videocard , not the computer maker or Microsoft.
  5. I think it is the edge of your invisible walls showing sometimes , trying changing the 4 1/2" invisible walls to a Room Divider instead. I don't see it either (videocard issue?) but your image seems in the same place as the edge of the invisible wall. M.

    Floor Structure

Porches, garages and some other room types have standard 4" slabs , and in Suite I don't think you can alter floor structures so you may need to use a different room type and add your own label
  7. Sounds like you were altering the default wall-TYPE , DONT , you are altering ALL walls of that type in the plan if you alter it, in this situation just alter the MATERIAL for that one wall , specifically the Interior Wall material, on the Materials Tab. ( or make a new wall type as Eric said ) The Peak can be selected and change as I mentioned in any 3D or Elevation views Best to Post the Plan as specific situations need specific answers and there is too much guessing , even if there are pics once you start getting out of the Ordinary. M.
  8. I think you took Elovia 's "Slab with a whole in the middle" a little too literally , Pro doesn't have the Tool to make Holes but what you do is use the break line tool ,to break the edge of the slab and drag it back to the desired width on 3 sides and then break it again on one of the "legs" and drag it over to meet the other "Leg". don't for get to set the height (default is only 12") and the depth , and set the material to Drywall , or your ceiling color as needed. The Slab can easily be converted to a "plain polyline" (edit toolbar) and then converted to a Countertop if you want to have Crown Moulding inside the tray ceiling too, I don't show that in the video below though. not a great video but I think it will give you the idea....where you don't see me click the break icon , I have used the no#3 shortcut key instead. http://screencast.com/t/x4CIHXgX
  9. Not all lights cast shadows by default or are "on" , open the Light's DBX and see if it is on and if cast shadows is on, on the light Data tab (if you have it) In Edit >Defaults> Camera>3D Views you can also adjust the night time/day time Ambient Light settings as well.
  10. Don't do what I mentioned on your "good Plan" make a couple of extra copies of you plan to play with , with the Save AS command.
  11. I don't think it will be easy with Suite as you have no Manual Roof Tools, but if you have a PDF of the real plans and you post the Plan file too (.make sure plan is closed in HD 1st) there are a few people here that can probably help you. You can also add your specs to your forum signature too please (see mine below) via your Username at top right >My Settings> Signature M.
  12. " It helps if we know what title (Suite, Pro etc) and version you are using. You can add this info to your signature by clicking on your user name at the top right of the page, click My Settings, then Signature on the left." in this case also far better to attach the Plan than a pic so we can check out the issue.... are your videocard drivers upto date?

    library ladder

there is some in the bonus Tools catalog and also in the bonus garage accessories Catalogs , not sure it's exactly what you want however or if you have access to those libraries? I think the Tools one yes....... under garage and shop http://3dlibrary.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?YII_CSRF_TOKEN=7f6c5f8e4717d0d97c415d3eb8dd17c2635945a2&r=site%2Flibrary&search=&x=true&hid_cpca=0&hid_cpu=0&hid_ctm=0&hid_ctnm=0&hid_ctu=0&hid_order=&hid_norotator=false&hid_soft_family_1=0&hid_soft_family_2=1&hid_soft_1=0&hid_soft_2=0&hid_soft_3=0&hid_soft_4=1&hid_soft_5=0&hid_soft_6=0&hid_soft_7=0&hid_soft_8=0&hid_soft_9=0&hid_version_4=1&hid_version_3=0&hid_version_2=0&hid_version_1=0&soft_family_2=2&soft_4=4&version_4=on&x=0&y=0
  14. "I am currently running six partitions on two hard drives with Win XP and am no stranger to odd setups but I just cannot afford to "play" with my "production" system at this time." That was why I suggested a new HD especially since $60-70 gets you a 1TB Drive these Days , re-partitioning has come a long way but still not worth the risk on a Production machine for that money. Not sure if someone has a 2015 Trial Key they no longer use , though I can't remember if the Trial Key becomes your Real Key if you Activate it or not ? Seems strange to me that CA won't give you a 2015 Version if you are willing to Pay for it......
  15. you could also just buy another hard-drive and plug it in to get D: drive if you don't want to play with partitioning though there are many good Tutorials online showing how to do this and a number of good free partitioning programs like Aomei Partition Manager, scroll down for the free standard version http://www.disk-partition.com/ their guides are here http://www.disk-partition.com/manual.html
  16. Would that not slow the GFX Card down? ie disabling PCIE
  17. I dual boot one of my systems for the same reasons , XP and Win7 , fairly easy to setup too. Jo_Ann is running the 2015 Trial on XP no problem , but said 2016 wont even open..... Technically CA does not allow the transfer of HD Titles to new Owners (as they do with Chief ) as most people have already Used them to "upgrade" and get the Rebate. Did you ask Sales if they would still sell you 2015 as you only have XP ? Sorry I only had the x64bit version so couldn't share that for you to try. ***Edit , the file on the HD website for 2015 I linked you too , is the Full version not an update and just installed fine for me , you will still need to request a CD KEY to activate it once installed though
  18. make sure you haven't toggled textures off by accident too , though that doesn't /shouldn't cause the "black" ,so see Kat's advice. Post the plan with saved cameras and we can try it for you to make sure it isn't Plan specific. M.
  19. Did you check Device Manager to see if the Proper monitor is installed? and that the monitor's menu says the same as window's does about the Resolution. I'm not too sure what you mean by "elongation" but it should effect everything , not just pics etc 1920 x1080 is consider 16:9 ratio I think which is a widescreen ration while 1600x1200 is 4:3 ratio or Letter box (same as older TV's) have you always been on 1600x1200 and windows 10 is now using the Native resolution and you just aren't used to it perhaps? bunch of win 10 tutorials here if you need to check something out http://www.windows10update.com/2015/04/windows-10-tutorials-34-changing-the-display-resolution/
  20. I haven't tried this but I'd import to plan view , add your text notes and then send to layout .
  21. it can be done auto if needed using the same trick as in the Clerestorey tutorial... ( not that I recommend it due to snow load and leaking issues) draw the 3 buildings the roof overhang apart ..eg 18" set the wall Roof directives and build the Roof , then Turn off Auto Build roofs delete the interior walls and rejoin the front wall into one wall. however if you turn roofs on again the roof will turn into one large Gable roof again.
  22. Check that you are using the exact monitor you have in Device Manager , not PNP Monitor which is M$ DEFAULT DRIVER and in NV CP make sure you are using you monitor's default resolution ( sometimes called native resolution ). It is NV 1st Win10Driver so things should only get better in the next few months i'd think. M.
