  1. If you don't have sloped soffits or Custom Ceiling planes , I am thinking it is not possible in Interiors , but I have Pro so someone else will need to confirm as Eric mentioned. I think the only other thing you might have is the Shapes in the library ... so maybe an (inverted?) wedge ?

Your Welcome.....If you can't find a Designer with Chief who can use your Plans, let me know if I can help.
  5. if you use rails they will follow the Stairs if you check the box "follow stairs", it how I did it above but once again not sure if that is in Suite though. M.
  6. There is a KB Article on doing multiple Shed Roofs , if that doesn't help ? Look at the one about clerestory windows / roofs http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-01020/52/Home-Designer/Roofs/Creating-Multiple-Shed-Roofs.html http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00492/

    Foundation spec

rfc ......would you mind adding your name to your Profile please ,it's easier to "talk" to someone if there is a name behind the face..... your Pic didnt attach again ..... so you need a ledge for the Slab to sit on? .....this could be done with a pony wall as a foundation , top part 8 " and bottom Part 10" to get the 2 inch ledge. "And why does the program insist on having a foundation room underneath a slab on top of stem wall?" ***Don't use "Floor Under this Room" in foundation defaults use the next setting ,"Floor supplied by Foundation Room Below" The Terrain Building Pad height setting only raises or lowers the Terrain in regard to the Main floor height , it doesn't effect the foundation in anyway.... here is a quick plan showing the settings I think you want , the cross section shows the use of the Basement Wall as a Pony Wall idea on the RH side. 61-inch Basement.plan *** you just posted above me as I am typing this post up , you didn't say it was a garage in your 1st post so my plan doesn't show that but should help

    Deck skirting

I think the news ones Kat referred to are Materials you apply to say a fence Panel of other object whereas the ones I mentioned in the Landscape Accents Library are Symbols (objects) so they work differently and can be resized more easily from the premade panels provided.
  9. if you read the help on the Gullwing it will let you know how to set it up and then just do it on all four walls , it works fine Auto.
  10. Other than HD Videos Robyn , there are a few other sites that have some Free Chief Videos too , which since you have Pro can be useful too such as Chief Tutor http://www.chieftutor.com/chiefx1.html DXF vids at above site http://www.chieftutor.com/scotthall2/dxf1.html Scott Hall also has a Youtube Channel here https://www.youtube.com/user/dshall44/videos

What you have done so far is probably great for your Daughter , for ideas and Options etc , which can save money as you will basically know what you want and the Architect wont have to do 3- 4 "concepts" for you, so you can basically just have a Draftsman/Designer do the Permit set. I am not sure about Colwood/Van.Isl. but in The GRVD you have to supply Schedule A (Architect.) and Schedule B (Engineer) Papers with a Full set of Plans to get a Permit , at least for new homes , for Renos only Schedule B (Engineer) but still a full set of Plans, they still allow some Drawings by Owners ( must be in CAD software) but only if they are undertaking the Work themselves, eg a Basement Reno, though I know a lot of stuff changed Jan. 1st 2015 too in Van. itself as it has it's own Building Code on top of the BC one. Engineer's don't do the Full "Blueprints" , they take the Full Set of Drawings and analysis it for Loads and give the Designer/Architect a stamped Drawing based on the Full Drawing, showing the Beams and Posts needed and any special needs for the Foundation , eg Earthquake hold downs etc. The Designer then add these notes to His/Her plans , usually on the Foundation and Framing Plans as needed. These days a Mechanical Air calculation has to be done too by the Engineer to make sure the bathroom fans and Kitchen hood etc are supplied with enough "makeup Air". The Survey may or may not be required depending on the Job , and can cost $2000+/- so an expense most people aren't aware of , so hopefully you have a current one or they don't require it. M.

Not Sure In Suite Kim but in Pro , we have the View Toggles Toolbar with the 3 Icons I was talking about , the Pic I took in Plan view so the toggle button is greyed out currently. you can use the Windows Snipping Tool in Accessories , to take quick pics like the Above for posting here. And what I see in Pro ...may not be possible in suite of Course? All On Colour Off Colour and Patterns off

    Permit requirements

try turning off Colour and Patterns ....two toggle buttons usually on the RH Toolbar....at least in Pro they are , or try the 3D menu for both , you may also want to turn off Line Weights on the same Toolbar....
  14. what's not in HD libraries can often be had on 3D Warehouse in many cases and then imported into Pro , there are several UK and Euro users we see here fairly often. They are actually trying to increase the Libraries and have asked Users to contact Companies they like and request HD Libraries be made , so Companies will know the Public wants this and will Work with them to make the Library. Roof top garden?

these two articles should help with the flat roof , but I haven't tried putting a garden bed on a Roof as yet , though it should work I'd think. http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00120/ http://www.homedesignersoftware.com/support/article/KB-00877/

    Grass floor

yes fill in your profile and attach you plan so we can have a look
  17. Do you have straight railings in Suite? it is possible, just not sure if Suite can do it ? I used straight Railings in the Pic but if you don't have them try Solid Railings and change the material for the interior and exterior wall to brick and the rail if possible .

    Plan colours

Eric has the Pic for you above, but you need to change the default HD Pro Wall Fill to Black if you want the walls to be black not the default Blue or Yellow.
  19. Kbird1

    Plan colours

Don't have Pro to look at but think this should help..... 1. Walls ...use display options and turn on "main layer only" 2. Select the Room and use the Fill option ,set to solid choose colour and transparency wanted 3 the grid is just the reference display by the looks just toggle it on and off with the icon which is usually on the right hand sidebar. For quick realty stuff you might want to look at the Space Planning Option too, once rooms are placed ,your then convert it to walls as normal. M.

    caseless windows

FYI: Don't turn the casing off and set the size to the smallest measurements your version will allow ,eg 1/16th or 1/8 , in the newer versions I am finding making them 0" or Off causes the Frame (Jamb) to "flicker" in 3D views which I don't remember in V.10. you could also try the recess to sheathing or main layer options too.
  21. Yes post the plan .... However , you won't get notice of misaligned walls if they are off by more that about 1/2 the wall's width as HD "thinks" it is deliberate in that case so you need to move them manually . If the house is already drawn , wall will not always move using the dimension string of the wall itself as it is attached to other walls and would/could break the wall connection , and hence lose Room Definition. Usually in that case you can use the Temporary Dims to move another wall in the correct direction to shorten or elongate the "bad wall" , but especially with exterior walls it can be a "bear" , but you can use/try Exterior dims for that too. Sometime you have to break the walls connect deliberately and resize as needed eg working methodically in a Clockwise direction. M.
  22. I guess you didn't hit the attach button for your plan file ?

    caseless windows

post your plan so we can play with a few ideas and see if they work.... M.

    Permit requirements

it really depends on the City , some even allow there Section examples like above to be used in the Permit submission....assuming they match the Construction. Kim .... BC doesn't post their Code but Ontario does as it is considered a Public Document there so you can use there stuff too , do a search on TACBOC CAD DETAILS and you will get a link to some PDF's , there are 2007 and 2012 PDf but I think 2014 version should be findable now too. this is the 2012 version, page 59 perhaps? : ONT_tacboc_details_2012_Rev.1.3.pdf
  25. You can access your Account by any online means ,tablet, phone ,another computer, and deactivate it there now, I think this started with 2015 versions. Older versions, if locked may need to use the Emergency Transfer Password.
