  1. I tried but could not download your shared plan. I do not think this roof design is possible in Architectural, except "Manually" like Eric said. I say this because I believe the dormer must cross two roof planes (the dormer tool is NOT programmed to do this by itself), so I believe that you need to upgrade to Home designer Pro to accomplish this roof design, because some manual roof editing will be needed to get this done. DJP
  2. If you set roof defaults to 4:12, that is what you will get when you uncheck "Flat ceiling under this roof" on its "Structure Tab" which then makes the underside of the roof planes the "vaulted ceiling". If you wish an 8:12 common rafter vaulted ceiling, the roof planes above that room must also be set to 8:12 by setting the walls that hold up those roof planes to 8:12 on their "Roof Tab" in their "Wall Specification Dailots - Roof Tab - pitch input box" per wall. You set global roof defaults in the "Build Roof Dialog - Pitch" input box and where you wish exceptions in roof pitch, in the wall specification dialog - Roof Tab - Pitch dialog. All of this is explained in your Reference Manual and Help files and also the "Roof Styles Tab" of the "Build Roof Dialog" DJP
  3. Also other than running "Plan Check" the "Living Area" display can be turned off and on via "Edit - Default Settings - General Defaults - Living Area" or by double-clicking on the "Select Objects" icon. DJP
  4. Pro version 9 would be VERY old, what year does your Pro display? Check to see in "Display Options - Ceilings" is turned off or if your ceiling is set to "Zero thickness". DJP

  7. I redid it and this time hopefully, I got it in the right place, you be the judge. DJP 105 South Drive v1 pre dormer-b.zip
  8. Your edited file is attached and you should be able to open and edit it in Interiors 2018, hope this helps you. DJP PS: in retrospect, I think I placed the dormers in the wrong place, sorry. 105 South Drive v1 pre dormer.zip
  9. Carefully and methodically make sure your "Floor Defaults: are properly set per floor then rebuild the foundation as Eric suggested. The carefully and methodically study your Reference Manual to make sure you fully understand the relationship between your "Edit - Default Settings" and the results you then get. DJP

    TOOLBAR

Please read this Help article on the Home Designer Website and see if it leads you to a solution. DJP
  11. Other than you have some second story walls facing in or the wrong wall types, I see nothing wrong, what have I missed please? DJP
  12. In terms of shingle roofs, you cannot have a functioning roof system with shingles under a pitch of 3/12. Roofs that have a pitch less than 3/12 must be done with impervious roofing (sheets in rolls that you seal the seams). If you desire you can then shingle over the impervious, sheet roofing for appearances sake, it is a more expensive choice but one you can make. In terms of your detail, I think you need to consult with a State Licensed Structural Engineer who can specify and Stamp your plans as well as provide details, that is my advice. Worth the money and this IS their business. DJP
  13. The check box to remove to obtain a common rafter ceiling (where the underside of the roof planes then form the "Ceiling" is worded in the dialog box as "Ceiling over this Room", take a look again please. This may or may not achieve the look you wish depending upon the geometry of your roof planes over this room with its flat ceiling removed, so you may also need to create "Ceiling Planes (found under "Build - Roofs - Ceiling Planes" in your software. Without seeing a copy of your plan, I am just guessing but it is possible. DJP

    HD2021

I helped beta Test Chief Premier 2021 (aka X12) and find it improved over 2020 or X11, I am sure the Home Designer titles that will be based upon it will be improved as well. You can always download a "Trial Version" and see for yourself. DJP
  15. Whether you have a Mac or PC, make sure all software drivers (mouse, hardware etc) are updated. Make sure your have not contracted some sort of malware or computer virus. When was the last time you cleaned the dirt and dust from the components in your case or laptop? I have been using this software for 24 years and the only times I have had problems like you describe was always caused by one or more of the above. That is where you should start. You might also post a copy of your problem plan for others to download and inspect to see it if is the plan file and not your computer. DJP
  16. Not true! In Suite you set up the "Automatic Foundation" by what you do on the main floor, so what you do on the main floor is followed by the auto foundation routine, take a look please. So you "Draw foundation walls" by way of properly setting up the main floor, each room dialog box then directly affects the generated foundation below. The ability to manually draw foundation walls, roof planes etc you only get in Home Designer Pro or Chief Premier. DJP
  17. Let us know how that goes please. DJP
  18. Richy B, it never occurred to me that you were speaking of Metric Paper sizes (we Yankees are hopelessly set in our "Imperial" (inches, feet, yards, miles) ways", that is why I did not understand what you were talking about (see above). In your metric Print Drivers You should be able to figure out what can and cannot be done. Pasting several sheets together to arrive at a product seems pretty "iffy" to me, I would recommend that you set up for a sheet that is close to half as large, print that page to PDF or paper and then have a print shop scan and up size that by 200% (twice as large), you also annotate your scale text twice as large for the final print out. That has worked well here in the US for years to get around small paper size limitations, try that. DJP
