  1. Upload worked. I don't think the program will do what you want. Specifically, show a truss that has a bottom cord configured like yours below the top of the basement wall. You could simulate what you have to get the heights correct. Set the first floor floor structure to 19" to make the stemwall height correct, then use a lowered ceiling in the basement to make up the difference. Basement First floor
  2. Yes -- that's what the invisible walls do. The program will only place a roof over a room.
  3. Invisible walls will do it. Just square up the plan, make sure the rooms you create -- the space in front of the garage and the patio have roof over this room checked.
  4. The more common way of doing this is to build a short second floor. When you build the second floor, set the ceiling height to be 1.5" or whatever they need to be. Build the roof, and once the roof looks correct, turn off auto build roofs, and raise the ceiling. This lets the Doll House view work as expected.
  5. You have Ignore Top (2nd) Floor checked. Is this on purpose?

I suggest you redraw -- I could have in the time spent trying to fix. Just too many small problems. I think the program gets confused at times after many changes have been made. Set your defaults correctly to start. It will go much quicker than the first time, and you can get all the dimensions corrected as you go.

A picture of the real house will help. Change the pitch on the walls to change the location of the ridge.

Send the file. It takes far longer to download to my system than it does to make the fix. Change the filename so it's different.
  10. I believe only floor or ceiling joist may be set to lap over a wall, not rafters. You can draw in a ceiling plane just like drawing in a roof plane.

This is an idea I had when I first looked at your plan. Not knowing anything about the project makes making relevant comments difficult. 7660 new stair.plan

I changed your plan to show 4 decimal places. You had it set to 0, so you were not seeing these numbers. You can show decimals or fractions, but these are just display settings. Internally the program is using the exact dimension. Walls and other objects need to be placed with exact dimensions. Draw a wall, then adjust its position relative to a fixed spot. Same with windows etc. You can easily place a wall that looks to be in the correct spot, but is not, because of how display settings are set.

All these odd dimensions should be cleaned up. I prefer 1/2" as the smallest increment, and try to keep to whole numbers. Also attached is a porch plan showing one way to do them. 7660 Porch.plan
  17. Good looking house you are designing. The image shows several modified roof planes. This area is the only one where things don't come together cleanly. Lowered the one over the first floor so the roof plane is continuous with the one to the right. Moved a second floor wall back a bit to give better clearance by the window. The door to the closet behind that wall could be moved to the tower entry freeing up wall space. Added a cricket against the tower wall.

What's going on with the roof? I keep expecting to see the dormers complete and the garage roof connected to the house.

    Dimension Question

Images show an example of changing one of the odd dimensions. Once changed, it stays changed. The only dimension related setting I change is Snap Unit. This keeps your objects aligned with the snap grid, so if it is set to 1", then walls will have a length in multiples of 1". The program is only rounding for display, the internal dimensions are accurate.

Fixed plan. 1st floor ceiling 109.5, 2nd floor ceiling 97. No unwanted walls by the stairwell. I manually changed the first floor rooms that were 111 to the default -- just checked the default box. Not sure if this was needed, but the plan seems clean now. You must do the first floor too. Follow my instructions and it will work -- at least it did for me on your plan. When you put the second floor back, it resets the first floor to the defaults, which is why they need to be set.
