Because you are using a Mac, your commands may be different. Ctrl-X is Cut (copy and delete) -- you are deleting and placing what is deleted on the clipboard. As a test, select any object, Ctrl-X (cut) then Ctrl-V (paste) to put it back. Go to second floor. Edit>Edit Area>Edit Area Marquee around the entire structure. Ctrl-X (This will delete the second floor, but you will see a few walls remaining. You must delete the 2nd floor so you may change the first floor settings.) Go to 1st floor. Open Default Settings>Floor and change the ceiling height and any other defaults as needed. Go to 2nd floor. Open Default Settings>Floor and change the ceiling height and any other defaults as needed. Paste>Paste Hold Position (This puts the second floor back, using the defaults just set) This fixes the first and second floor ceiling heights.

Should be: Edit>Edit Area>Edit Area (or Ctrl-H) Then select the entire structure. Should have a highlighted box. Ctrl-X to cut.

Could you post the previous version. To get your electrical changes into the older version. Open both plans to the same floor. In the newer one, click the plug icon on the toolbar. Marquee around the entire plan while holding the shift key down. This selects all electrical items. Copy (control-C). Go to the older plan. Paste>Paste Hold Position

To add images, More Reply Options (right by Post), then Choose the image, and Attach This File. I see the gallery, but somehow it's on the Chief Architect site and not the Home Designer site. I was thinking images of the actual house. Often it's the small details that make a difference in what is recommended. For example, is there a parapet around each room/section, or only around the perimeter, or some combination? The image I posted is a room with a 10' ceiling, No Roof and No Ceiling. I manually drew a roof plane within the walls, and lowered it to 8' with a 1/4" pitch. The rafter/joist direction runs the direction of the pitch, and I'm not sure how to change it.

You would typically use a Soffit for this, but a Soffit can only have 90 degree corners, A Custom Countertop can take many shapes. You could use Frame Lowered Ceiling, but you would still need to close in the front with a Soffit or Custom Countertop etc.

No need for a room divider, but you do need to apply your molding to the countertop.

Search for gates, right click on one, Open in Browser. There they are.

I played around with this last night, doing it several different ways. The easiest way I found is to use a Custom Countertop. It can be shaped to follow the bay, and will accept a molding (crown) if you are using one. Just change the finish to drywall and it blends seamlessly with the wall.

Big differences in versions. What about checking Automatic Floor/Ceiling Framing? That should cause it to build and keep it up to date.

Just follow the article. Draw a fence. Open it and change the panel type to the one from the library. Change the height. Change to Post to Rail, or one of the other settings to make it look correct. Gates are in the library, but none match the fence.

Without a better understanding of what you are trying to model, making specific suggestions is difficult. Do you have pictures you could post. An aerial view showing the roof would help.

I don't think there is using settings within the program. You can do it using soffits. Remove moldings from the room. Create a 1/16" thick soffit the same height as the molding and position it where you want the molding to be. Add molding to the soffit.

Draw a railing around the space. Railings are walls that look like railings. Use the Room Divider to outline the space. Railings can be continuous through columns, so you may place railings, then position columns on top. You can use a room divider where there is no railing, or make the railing invisible. Once you have created a room, change the type to Porch. I also noticed the porch slab is a step down from the interior floor level. Some places this will not meet code. Post your current plan if you would like me to look at the wall issue.

How did you add the material?

Do you want the roof lowered too, or just the ceiling?

Pro will do much of that, but you may need to create some of the decoration in a program like SketchUp and import into Pro. Suggest you download the trial and see for yourself. There are several people answering questions here that are good at modeling this type of structure. I opened your plan. I'm on floor 1. Checked Build Floor Framing in the Build Framing dialog. Opened a Perspective Framing Overview and the floor framing was there. If you don't see the floor framing, check display options to make sure its layer is displayed. What happens when you do the above?

Some of the first floor rooms have a 111" ceiling, others have a 109". Is this by design? When I deleted the 2nd floor, reset the first floor rooms to the default height, then built a 2nd floor, everything looked good.

I noticed those walls too, Alan. I deleted them and they went away. There are inconsistencies in the way the structure has been modeled. View the family room with a full camera, paying attention to the crown. Notice that it does not go completely around the space. The image shows an area in the dining room as an example. You have built the porch from parts, but it's not a room. If you gave it a room type of porch, you would get the option of a ceiling -- which it lacks, and the option of a slab, etc. I'd suggest that cleaning up the structure will give you a better model, and go a long ways in preventing things like the duplicated walls.
