  1. Suggest you reference the manufacturer information for your window choice and ask your supplier about sizing -- what if any advantage is there for choosing "standard" sizing. Windows are generally made to order, and not stocked somewhere in specific sizes, unless you are buying off the shelf from a retailer. Probably a better way to do what I show, but this should give you what you need.
  2. I don't think you can turn them off. Looks like a bug. Suggest you sent the plan to support. https://support.chiefarchitect.com/
  3. Suggest you contact support at Chief. https://support.chiefarchitect.com/ Or by phone or email.
  4. Suggest you watch one of the getting started webinars on YouTube -- see link above. There is also a tutorial linked under the Help menu that shows the basics. As for your question, you normally use the Build Foundation function instead of manually drawing a slab.
  5. Please keep in mind that the people helping here are all volunteers. It's not our job to solve your problems. David said: "for pier and beam type foundations, they are laid out manually using the provided tools". To be clear, the program will not automatically build a complete pier and beam foundation. It will build some of it, but you will need to place piers and beams and proper footings manually. Here is another link to some info that may get you started. https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/search/?default_tab=all&q=pier
  6. You are asking about framing not changing? Is auto build framing on, or are you building framing after the change?
  7. Home Designer has little control over moldings. You can turn them off on a wall. If you need finer control, people will use a Custom Countertop or Soffit with an applied molding.
  8. Video is in Pro 2021 -- don't have 2020 installed, but I think this should work in 2020 too. If not, use Landings to manually make the steps.

Have you searched the Bonus Catalogs available on the website? Or Google 3D Warehouse.
  10. @MamaQuartz I see you are using an older version, but the program has worked like I've shown in the video for some time.
  11. There are multiple ways, but this is probably the easiest.
  12. And that's probably your problem. This is from Chief Premier, so it might look a bit different, but try setting your display options like this.
  13. No. The program normally does it automatically. For many questions, it's helpful to attach the plan file, or one that demonstrates the problem. Close the program before attaching, 14MB file size limit, so zip and/or remove unneeded things (cars, furniture, plants etc) that do not relate to the problem. Usually all that's needed is the plan file, not a Full Backup, unless the question is about materials.
  14. See if this older template plan gets you started. Search my YouTube channel for info on Home Designer Templates. Profile.zip
  15. You can copy auto built framing and reuse it.
  16. You are trying to rotate 90 degrees like this, plus a bit more so it's laying flat on the roof? I don't think you can. What are you trying to accomplish? Give us the problem instead of your proposed solution.
  17. Automatically Place Roof Intersection Points or Temporary Points See Help for more info.
  18. Think about what the program needs to know to create a ceiling joist when you use the Joist tool. What happens if you build a room using default settings, then draw a ceiling joist over this room, or auto build ceiling framing. Does this work? What's different about this room when compared to your deck room?
  19. Why not just draw a ceiling joist?
  20. That looks like an elevation rather than plan view, and I'm guessing it shows the stairs unwound around the corner. You won't get that from this software or Chief. The stair tools, and in general, much of the program, are not designed to generate construction drawings (although they may be done manually). As an example, the riser on a stair is only as face -- it has no thickness. As for your question about stringers, what you show is fairly simple to do, at least in Chief.
  21. That's stringers, not stingers There are 3 titles in the Home Designer line, Suite, Architectural and Pro. It's important to say which one you are using as the more expensive ones do more.
  22. I'd draw the railing without newels, then place newels manually. Change the railing wall to be as thin as possible so the railing is closer to the edge.
  23. Try this in a new plan. Build your first floor, then add a 1 1/2" tall 2nd floor. You will need to adjust the 2nd floor, floor structure. Build a roof.
