Backup Entire Plan will capture all the materials along with the plan file. These materials will (should) be available as normal -- just not in your library. One of the articles in the KB link is moving the software to a new computer which will tell you about moving library files.

Select a framing member -- you can delete it, resize it, copy it ...

You can manually edit the wall framing for the single wall.

Auto roofs build over your exterior walls, and wall height is controlled by the ceiling height of the adjacent room. Manual roofs may be placed anywhere and will cut off the wall under them. Search the Home Designer site for cape cod -- there should be an article explaining how to build a story and a half house.

Chief usually has upgrade promotions between now and the first of the new year. You can download the Pro trial and experiment. It has a Transform/Replicate tool that makes it easy to make multiple copies at a specific interval as well as other.

Problems like this are sometimes related to the video card. Make sure your driver is up to date. No clue what you are doing ... To paint the railing, open the library and select the color/material. Click the object to apply.

Lights will snap to the intersection of CAD lines.

This works the same as most everything else -- open the object and change its materials, or use the Material Eyedropper to paint the object. Many items have defaults that you can set prior to drawing.

I just opened Pro and tried -- you don't have the same tools as Chief does. I sometimes forget the differences. You will need to model this from parts. Use partitions and shelves, slabs etc. You can make an L shaped slab, but not an L shaped shelf. Once all together, make an Architectural Block.

Where does clearcoat walnut come from? I don't see it in the standard catalogs.

Always look at things in the plan -- that's the only place they need to look correct.

I've never used Essentials, but in all other titles, terrain is checked by default (out of box configuration) for camera views.

When you add shutters to an arch top window the shutters will take on the correct profile. Are you wanting something different? Have you checked the available Bonus Catalogs -- I believe there is one or two containing shutters.

You probably need a room defined where you want to make the change. Add a foundation wall and then select the room you created and change its floor elevation.
