Rookie65
Hi all, I am looking for help in getting the overhang of the roof to go over the door as shown below. I need to keep the ridge centered as is & wasn't sure of the best way to achieve this? Thank you for any help.
solver
Except for this one thing, is your roof correct? The easiest way is to do it manually.
Rookie65
Ok. Yet how do I get the room to break that way. The roof is good, other than once I can get the bump out over it, I can draw it to match. I had thought of a separate room for that area, with a raised floor or something to form the "cube?" solver
You might post images of what you have now, or your plan file for the best suggestions.
Rookie65
Hi, Attached is the plan. The overhang needs to extend 74" to the left over the door. It is 20" above the door at the bottom. Thank you for the help. PC-JDunn-roof over entry.plan
solver
Do you understand manual roofs? You may be able to do this with auto roofs. Remember, roofs build over rooms, so to start, create a Porch room on the 2nd floor, adjusting the floor and ceiling heights so they are correct. If your roof is correct, you can just drag the roof plane down to cover the porch as needed. You will need to change some materials, add steps etc.

Rookie65
Nice, thank you. The trick to this whole thing is that they want to put a porch/patio in the front of the house. There just isn't much room to get a roof to fit under the upper level windows & have any headroom inside. Been a bugger trying to get something to work. Plus they wanted a vestibule area to enclose the front door area.
Jo_Ann
Maybe something like this?
Rookie65
Jo_Ann, That's very nice, thank you. They also want a screened porch to the left side of the house to fit under the windows. How did you do what you did?
Jo_Ann
Like solver said, start with a porch 'room'. Set the roof directives on the porch walls and auto build roof. Then tweak the roof with the manual roof tools. Too vague about the screened porch. Ground level or main floor level?

Rookie65
The porch is on the ground level with the roof starting from under the windows. They want an enclosed vestibule where the front door is. If that was done w/a porch too, then I can go from there. Thank you for the help!
Jo_Ann
Ok. Here's another try.
