  1. a thread on Chieftalk has popped up about this too, have a look there too ....https://forums.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/1066-walkout-basement-stuff/
  2. there are a number of guys on Cheiftalk talking about the Pro (1+2, 3 is now out as well) , might be worth messaging them or starting a thread over there.... https://forums.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/702-x6-imports-room-planner-files/?hl=laptop#entry5328 Of course the screen small but an ext. monitor in the office would help with that issue M.
  3. call the sales number and you will get it now.... M.

    Convert DWG to DXF?

DraftSight is a free Cad prog, , I have used it for this purpose... but I would think you could find a direct converter app. with some googling online somewhere if you don't want to download the whole program.
  5. go to "more reply options" keith , button is next to the post button...and you'll see the attach files /choose files button at the bottom of the reply window M..
  6. from a 3d view go to file>export>jpg or png and save where you can find it (desktop?) you can double click the jpg to see if it opens and shows what you want, you can even add text in "Paint" or arrows etc if needed before you post. then goto to "more reply options " ( next to post button) to do your reply and attach the files. M.
  7. perhaps post some pics of what is going on as I can't quite figure out from your description what the problem is .... The front wall is likely only a ground beam or perhaps a 6-12" stemwall with framed wall above or similar , you should be able to change its height in elevation view >select wall, use top edit handle and pull it down. M.
  8. There is one or two guys on Chieftalk using X6 on the Pro so i'd think it was ok , but you could try a search over there as I haven't seen it mentioned here before.
  9. Thanks Rich , saved your angles pic for future reference , I can now swing the sun to the other side (270 deg) if needed , had tried multiple "suns" but it didn't seem to effect the lighting... Was beginning to think you and JoAnn had disappeared

    Plate Height

you'll need to explain better what you are trying to do , and which plate , and please update your Signature so we know what Software you are using...
  11. I think it is working right for us both David , the issue is that the Sun can't be turned off or augmented so you can see the Shadowed side of the building better. If you rotate the model, the Sun rotates with it so , you cant turn your model to light it better. Adding a Parallel light on the other side of the building seems to do little/nothing as far as I can see for exterior views anyway. This is a small cabin I'm working on now sunny side Dark side This is why I use Vector View a lot instead....
  12. Same as you Keith I haven't figured this one out , and I read on Chieftalk recently that unfortunately you can't turn the "sun" off and just have everything well lit, but looking at your pics,I see a lighting data tab in the DBX. ( a DBX I didn't know was there , Sun is usually set in Preferences) so I did some digging here and on this Tab it does allow you do have lighting on /off and whether to cast shadows ,and what light intensity should be used, never used it before but am gonna try it myself. In the past ,I did adjust the ambient light setting in the 3D> settings> options Tab though so at least it is better lit even in the shadows . You can set this really high but it will wash out the colours. Did you sort out your VideoCard? install your old Nvidia? M.
  13. Rainbird is a major Manufacturer of Irrigations systems in Nth Amer. David... though I'd be surprised if Chief let alone the HD Titles would be that specific as to have a brand on there irrigation library... you would just have to use text labels at heads/controllers etc after designing the system with the Pro supplied Tools. Rainbird does have a good CAD LIBRARY , not sure whether any off it can be imported into Pro 2015 as a 3D model though....look here. http://www.rainbird.com/landscape/resources/CAD/CAD-SprayHeads.htm

    32 bit vs 64 bit

As David said , assuming you had 64bit Windows AND a 64 bit CPU/computer use the 64 bit , not sure you can install the 64bit version on 32bit windows anyway if that is what you have ? M.
  15. Have a look in the Help Menu at Marquee Select or Shift Select ..... select the 3 walls only , and the Roof Plane....>then see if the materials list will work/is an option , other wise the materials list from area Tool may work , drag the Marquee over the room carefully not touching the original house wall. Note that the materials list isn't all that accurate , make sure you have built all your framing etc 1st. and in the Edit>defaults>structural member reporting..... set how you want the Materials list output . ( yeah not where I would of looked for it either ) M.
  16. check that you have the Pony wall Defaults setup right in Edit>Defaults>Walls>Pony wall, if you bought 2014 in the last 30 days , check out the 30 day guarantee , cos 2015 is out...... M.
  17. Well you have purchased the cheapest Option of all the HD titles and most of what you want is in the Suite Title already (or Architectural), You don't get Manufacuter's Libraries with Essentials as far as I know ,eg there are shingles in the Certainteed library which Suite can use , are you sure there isn't siding options in the Library under content>materials>siding ? you can always use the items available and play around with them, to make the 3d images look like what you want if you can't upgrade now to Suite. That being said the 2015 titles come out on the 30th ,so if you just got 2014 you are eligible for a free upgrade (30 day limit) see this post here and the guarantee. Personally I started with suite and have worked upto Pro over the last 6-7 years... if you upgrade the following yr you get a rebate equal to what you paid against the new title, eg you will get your $59 back if you upgrade to Suite 2015 which I think is $99? here is the link, its says MAC but applies to both. https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/11-mac-coming-soon-home-designer-2015/ M.

    Hp and Imac

Unless the changed it all versions except Pro can be installed and working on 3 computers/devices With Pro you can install it on multiple computers but it will only work on ONE at a time , you need an internet connection ,so you can deactivate it on say your desktop 1st then open Pro on your laptop and activate it there to use it. I think ,new in 2015, is the ability now to do this via your digital locker from your Phone as well. One other note with Pro , which isn't a concern for all ,but has caught me out, is that it's NEEDS TO CALL HOME , ie connect to the internet every 14 days or the Program won't open. M.

    Hp and Imac

my guess would be you are clicking on the Wndows link for the download and not the Mac link for the download ,but I don't use a Mac so not 100% sure , call the 1-800 before they close if you are in Nth.Amer. perhaps. Also if you bought it in the last 2-3 weeks you may qualify for the new version 2015 that is being release on May 30th ,though I know Eric (user "egander") is already using the Mac 2015 version, so perhaps you can get it too.... ( there is a 30 day Latest version quarantee when you buy but website doesn't have 2015 yet)
  20. you should add this to the suggestions forum Eric and then people can give it a +1 me too
  21. thx for the feedback Eric at least we know a little more now..
  22. if you know AutoCAD Draftsight is Free for personal use too http://www.3ds.com/products-services/draftsight/download-draftsight/
  23. thanks for reporting back for future Users appreciated M.

    Range top view

Sorry didn't "click" it was the 2D image you were having trouble with, if they all have the same issue either it is a poor model or HD just isn't importing it correctly. Personally I'd just use something that was close enough or see if GE has a symbol(s) or if someone else on 3d Warehouse has done them. Sorry I can't be more help. M.
  25. There isn't a lot of info around on this ,personally I don't do landscape stuff so never looked into it but there was a thread on the old forum about similar issues , the last poster was using 2014 and had the same questions as you . but didn't get any help, I would suggestion copy and pasting the above to tech Support , they will be able to tell you and then you can hopefully post back here so we can all learn... found it on the old forum http://hometalk.homedesignersoftware.com/showthread.php?1111-Growing-Trees&highlight=plant+growth
