  1. not sure this is possible unless new in 2015 , the railings height is set in the Railing Defaults , (42 " here for code , 36" on stairs) and the bottom rail is controlled by the "Shoe" options though I have never personally heard it called that,(bottom rail here) but the raise shoe option seems to be a set distance above the deck , I think because the gap is covered by code reqs. sam as the baluster (spindle) spacing. if you use No shoe option, balusters will go to floor surface , if you uncheck no shoe too, you will get the bottom rail on the floor with the spindles on top of it. Railings and Fences have other options available too ,such as follow terrain or step terrain you could try too. M.
  2. While in the Materials list you can choose the COLUMNS (up&down rows) such as cost ,subcategory etc AND reorder them by moving them up and down the list , that way you don't have so much to edit out later. You can also deselect whole categories here or in the Prefs. Menu. at anything before making the Mat. List. You can't however remove ROWS of cellist seems, those need editing out once pasted unless you do as I suggested above and uncheck Components of a particular Item before making the Mat. List. M.
  3. Of course to post a new thread I had to use the full editor above so it doesn't look as bad as it did from the quick reply window........ M.
  4. is anyone else having issues with the quick post/reply window adding all sorts of what I think is html tagging to messages? it doesn't happen if I use the full editor window eg is below.... the reply window also seems to time out and it wont post a reply and if you hit full reply you lose all your reply and are dumped back at the forums start page. just curious if others are seeing here I am and Chieftalk has similar issues ,except here I don't see an autosave recovery option. eg my 1st attempt at this post https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/87-interior-walls-partially-changing-to-siding-designer-suite-2014/#entry388 got me this.... don't have 2014 to look for you but try using an angled soffit for the angled area not a normal soffit , splitting your screen with a 3d view so you can see what happens to the soffit as you set the front and back measurement, makes it easier to do. but no reason you cant use two like JoAnn said too.<br /><br />If you are lucky Rich will see this thread and have a look for you <img title=";)" class="bbc_emoticon" src="https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.png" data-cke-saved-src="https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/public/style_emoticons/default/wink.png" /> M.

  6. lines will snap together automatically if they are close enough , same for walls etc.... post some pics then well be able to give you specific help , as I am not sure what you are trying to do..... M.
  7. it is usually on the toolbar at the bottom of the window BUT only appears when there is a line to break ,it looks like a small backwards Z or lighting bolt perhaps? looks similar to wall break tool icon but only has lines either side of the -Z- draw a cad line anywhere ,select it and it should be one of the options on the edit toolbar,( or RC menu) then you'll know what to look for.... M. Back ..made a small pic to help..... under the arrow near the toolbar, should of done that 1st and saved myself all the typing
  8. Ok , I thought there was a way to edit the Materials list itself after you set the display options ,so I didn't need to edit the output "in plan" once pasted... You can export to Excel and do this and paste back too .....note that the export to excel seems to be the only option that exports ONLY what you have displayed ,ie Door and Window categories. All the other options export the whole materials list and all columns except html which does the displayed items but all columns. One other option ,to eliminated that editing is to deselect those "components" eg for Doors the hinges, hardware etc but I haven't found a way to make that the default setting easily but you can edit that info in all Library items , so if you don't need them permanently you can deselect those items for your default window or Door as wished. Otherwise you have to do it per window/per door on the plan, haven't tried it but if you did it to the 1st of each on the plan and copy and pasted the rest of the windows and doors ,that deselected condition may stay?... M.
  9. I was aware ,like other windows you could display only what categories you wanted, but how did you delete the un-needed info from the category eg the hinges ,hardware etc? I can select those rows but I can't delete anything, or did you export to Excel and then paste back? thanks M.
  10. to get a line to become a polyline you need to convert it to polyline but it would only be a sprinkler line......a cad box could become a slab or ??? there are about 8-10 choices when you "convert to polyline" with the right click menu option or icon once an item is selected. M.
  11. looks good glad you got it..... and thx for posting back....... M.
  12. is the foundation auto built? if you haven't done too much work on it , why not try deleting it and see if all your other defaults are correct. are all the different "wings" of your office block connected to each other? or are they separate buildings ? as noted above this has caused issues in the past. try connecting them with invisible walls , ans see what happens if separate.... I think Pro may 'see" porches and decks similarly do you have a porch? M.
  13. the pdf make it look like the sloped ceiling is shingle not the wall or did I see it wrong? perhaps post the plan so some can look at it for you as I don't have 2014
  14. the roof on the front of the house has the same pitch all the way along but is 3 different widths ,eave to ridge , thus the room heights on the front wall cannot all be the same, ie 107 5/8 as stated , at the RH end yes , porch will be lower and garage lower again.... , this is why you get the stepup in your original pic at the garage.... , you would get two steps IF your house is actually as per JoAnn's pic. as the walls are all set at 107 5/8 . take a piece of paper and draw 3 vertical lines and inch apart ,now draw three lines at any angle parallel to each other ,from the top of each vertical and you will see what I mean, the angle lines will never met each other......hence the step in the roof. shorten the LH an d middle vertical line enough and the angled line will intersect the RH line perfectly , you can actually use this method to work out the other two heights if needed.
  15. defaults>dimensions>format RTM and watch the training videos too....
  16. post no# 12 doesn't work for you or not enough "depth" ? don't use 3D views for this USE BACKCLIPPED CROSS SECTION elevation view Mick.
  17. Use the File>Export>Picture to "snap" some pics of the problems , eg a plan view and some 3D views, then use the full editor under the "more reply options" button ( next to post button) to add the pics to your next post , or worse comes to worse a photo from your phone with a hand sketch of your house plan.... M.

    Plumbing

Hi D. yep I had found the Bibs but am not aware of how to do Plumbing lines or HVAC in Pro other than a standard 2d cad plumbing diagram , so if you can point me to a KB Article or Tutorial, ref. Manual pages that would be great. Thanks, Mick.
  20. @ JoAnn ,I don't see the avatar being animated ,though it does appear you are blowing Rich a Kiss or was it a raspberry ? Time to break out the Credit card Jo , you need the new version, not sure how you'll spend all your extra time though as there'll only be 1/2 the number of "workarounds" for you to deal with.... Okay I can see why you with HDA10 use the "extra basement" method , though aren't sure why Chiefer's are ? esp. since it appeared over there that he had problems printing/sending to Layout with two basement levels.... should recheck that thread myself I guess.... found other Chief Link , not that it helps unless you plan to upgrade.....<br /><br />http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-02840/0/Drawing-HVAC-Ductwork.html
  22. online help go to Edit\Defaults\select Dimension and click on help button on bottom right of DBX. note you can do this on almost every DBX in the HD titles Reference Manual is under Help\View Reference Manual\ it will download the Reference Manual in PDF if you don't already have it, it is more extensive on a number of topics than the online help and is always my 2nd stop.
  23. Read up on and check your Dimension Defaults , you can set the "accuracy" or rounding , I'd say it is set at 1/16ths but can be 1/4 or 1/2" too . No it would not be common to see a 5/8 dimension usually , but easily fixed with your ext. dimensions , select the wall you want to move slightly , click on exterior dim. number and it should open a DBX and you can change it to 12' 10"..... you may need to shift things (wall?) above by using the align with wall below tool on the floor above too. M.
  24. what program are you using? if you have the floorplan done don't you already have most of what the bank needs? M.
  25. Yes the wall is independent of the Floor Slab (the slab is 4ft above it), after I set the Room height to 90-96-100" what ever I need, before I go to the cross section view to do the steps in the foundation. I have never used the basement as floor 1 , what are the benefits ? reason for doing this?............. maybe a situation I haven't come across? yes I had HDA9 and seem to remember that issue...I just used a CAD BOX with the fill set to concrete to make it look right. 2015 finally has multi Monitor so I may finally upgrade , was hoping there'd be a "sale" on with the new release but still the same $200 rebate for us Ver.10 users. If you haven't noticed yet as I thought ALL version 10 content on the website disappeared yesterday with the upgraded website.... yep need to find an Avatar ,where'd you get yours? M.
